This game is a continuation of the following game see:
copy/paste axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=25076.630 pg.43
It started as a Alpha2 game in October and then was converted to an Alpha3 in early November during the Alpha 3 adoption process. During the conversion they basically rolled with the rules of Alpha3 as they came out aka convoy, NO changes etc.
It is one of the best Axis games I have viewed, no clear victory at turn18 until the botched assault by ANZAC that was critical. Its a damn shame as I really really really wanted to see this game actually continue and not be modified so strongly by poor dice. Unfortunately, even though James Aleman created nice opportunities to exploit, he failed on his dice rolling to capitalize.
We shall be continuing the game by re-rolling the Shn assault with ANZAC. I feel Japan will soon be on its knees. Italy is far far out of position by reinforcing CPR. JJ thinks he would have won, I tend to agree, but then, I will play differently from this point. So for those that were watching that game as I was…time to continue play :)
I enjoyed the hell outta this game. Thanks. Power to the
8hits out of 40 2’s. You fail at life JJ.
As far as the strat for CPR goes, looks good on paper, it will keep Russia alive a bit longer. If anything, just goes to reinforce how fun this game is and how fun dice make the game. Even if its not so much fun for you, I am having a great time watching your rolls! muwhahahaha
The best part is when we play f2f, you roll like this in real life too!
He was ready to post yesterday late afternoon, not sure why he didn’t. Sorry man.
With all the sickness going around, he may have been nuked come to think of it. And this is a pretty critical move…well hell, they are all critical at this point. Best game I have ever seen at round 17. What am I saying? I have never seen a game at Round 17 without a concise/clear advantage, although he has been outproducing the allies for so long…even if you get an advantage on him briefly in the med…I don’t think you can capitalize on it for long. He just has so much. Regardless, you are doing a great job JJ. I can’t believe you are still hanging on, even challenging him at this point.

Ok I do admit that I do have better luck with the Convoydamage, but I don’t think that it deviates more than perhaps 10-15IPC from average rolls over the whole game. I don’t think I got this far just because of a few lucky Convoyrolls.
No offense NTSH, but the game is far more skewed than you realize. Imagine 26 rolls with dice and only rolling 1 [6]. The damage caused by these bombing raids was 63 IPC’s. Convoy damage surpasses this Now, I don’t like convoy damage, but I can live with it…a little. But bombers are extremely overpowered.
To put this in better perspective…have Germany lose their entire income for 1 Turn and 1/2 their income for the next turn and let me know how that works for ya. Luck played a major role in this game.
Frankly that was probably his best shot at taking you out. I didn’t even see the Berlin attempt till he showed me, so I was impressed, 50/50 or not. If your capital is up for grabs, and its there isn’t much that can be done to shut you out of Russia, well, guess I am goin for it also:)
Regardless, A3 is done with me also. Convoy and bombers are a hair OP. I would like to see more strat and less luck be an overriding factor.
I had my share of bad outcomes in this game especially when I rolled your defenders. That they didn’t all occur when expensive units where affected like your Berlin assault isn’t my fault now is it. Also my SBR’s did really below average damage for all that they didn’t get shot down much. I also didn’t count on luck too much to safe me. I also would like for strategy to be the deciding factor in winning the game with luck being only a little modification of the expected outcome in either direction.
I get what you are saying regarding battles, and yes, JJ tends to roll like crap, but my point is not this game’s strat so much as the mechanics of bombers and subs for any A3 game. With your original bombers and you yourself admitting you rolled below average damage, combined with the convoy damage is just a hair over-powered. That is all I am saying.

I swear JJ…you simply cannot roll well…evar.
Put the stuff in the air and see where he may/may not choose to scramble. The favor weighs heavily to you this time JJ. I think he sees the danger now, especially since you told him.
Whew, took me a while to get through. I know my experience with this map is limited, but it looks like you are getting a run for the money this time JJ.
and I did post it in sahara. Finished the rugby game, got our butts kicked. ah well. I am debating what to do with Japan, I have 3 different themes I can chase…difference is, I am not counting transports as casualties and I am paying attention to the damn airports.
/dirtbag
I produced 1 destroyer, 8 men and 4 artillery…although, i think i should said 6 destroyers now…/shakesfist.
Airbases and seaports are the suck. 3 more 3’s from Gibraltar. Enjoy whippin my fleet this time with Britain, won’t happen again dirtbag. I will also utilize my transports by not including them as casualties…/sigh. TripleA battlecalculator for the loss.
z125 sub was moved out by accident. did not mean that one. I just realized my production was on the combat move…sorry. Didn’t attack with it though!
Germany collect 51 +10NO = 61? I think I collect that, but not sure about the sub off finland and if its accounted for.
Germany end turn 3. Only one combat Z115
