      my last FTF game, italy pimped up ts navy to no effect. it was a long strategic game, neither side taking big risks. in games like this i feel its just a waste of IPCs. because USA/UK can always and will allways outprouduce any western axis naval attempts. this might change if USA is pacific only. then an Italian fleet which UK has to sink alone could turn out to be a combined threat with a strong german luftwaffe in france.

      the best use for italian navy  ive found is either a well-timed  attack on some allied sz12 fleet , so that luftwaffe can take out leftovers, or on a rare occasion it prooved quite useful in Yellow Sea, after an US  hulk smash :D

      What exactly do you mean? Like those things used in AAR FTF?

      sorry i only know AA50. i agree that having the units in place looks cool, but its really annoying moving big naval groups bit by bit ( i know CRTL / Shift function ;) )
      i though of something like this.  now u could place jap F1 marker in sz and the actual fleet plus F1 marker in … um… mongolia :D, UK fleets go to sahara  :mrgreen:

      ( i also changed bombers ( with bombs  :evil:) and AC ( make thicker)  thx to P@nther for input! )

      Date: 13.02.09

      Rules: NOs yes. no tech or optional faqs.
      Victor: Axis. Japan takes Russia
      Lenght: 18:00 PM till 6:00 AM  :|
      Bias: our standard 3 player round( all around tenish games ). last time i got to play germany. what a relief :D
      Description: G set up Karelia for round 2. Uk landings in Norway. USA split in the ozeans. tried to sub -sink italian fleet. Japan thought cool idea. J3 lots of subs scattered around hawaii, pushing USA out of pacific> so we go KGF. Germany was prepared for this. in the end Jap 38 arm, 3 bmb, 8 ftr( 3 lost to AA)  14 inf and one art!!! in caucasus attacking russia and taking it. unexpexted, but even if russia would have held, germany would have been in range. even though germany was hard pressed in defense ( down to 30 IPC somewhere around 3 am) and russia did grab its 10 IPC bonus twice, axis recovered ( jap planes, thank you lord :D)
      Observations :

      imho:

      • USA cant split. if he goes pacific, every single IPC is needed there… 
        -sub “wolfsrudel” work great in pacific, but not in atlantic, too narrow.
        -micromanagment of allied( USA) naval operations  once again not optimal. axis can afford such “slow down” mistakes, allies cant in the first few rounds.
        -yes 12 hours is more than 12 rounds  :roll:

      j1 will almost always be in range for india j2. in fact setting it up j1  is a must imho to counter a KGF. this includes a factory in FIC. there is no way now for any UK navy pacific strat….

      depends who is attacking/defending.

      10 subs attack 1 AC + 2 ftr  > AC sunk > fighters 1 move to land

      AC + 2 ftr attack  DD  >  AC/ DD sunk  > fighters  get normal non combat move

      no… since the baltic fleet is dead anyhow, one might decide to attack sz6 with the SS + CA instead a fighter.

      nope… surface warships to kill NO. and by round 3 that NO “should” be gone anyway due to allied troops in ALG at least…

      but yeah  sending it to the med is only use ( except G1 CA attacked sz6)
      … or if germany has dropped a few subs somewhere somehow for brit-fleet-soaks

      15 VC means for axis they need to take out…… ottawa  :roll: :mrgreen:

      but you are right. unless u have some bogus fool refusing to accept loss, it shouldnt be a problem. also 15 VC is OOB rules, so why not just stick with that.

      @Gargantua:

      Remember that taking 1 chinese territory only gives you a +1, vs, if you took russian or african territory, you get +1 and the allies get -1.  So it’s twice the money to go anywhere else.

      not quite true since chineese inf cost 2ipc ;)
