Combat Hit Differential Summary :

I try to maximize defense of Russia. An extra two infantry can dramatically change the odds. Or a few art instead of inf can make it hard for Germany to stand toe-to-toe with the Moscow stack.

I don’t take Greece unless Germany lost many planes on G1

It takes so many turns for most units to get from Europe to Asia, or the other way of travel.

By mid-game you can have a couple Japanese tanks/mechs in central Russia, but they are of minor benefit in most matches as they are less effective than Italian can-openers due to turn order.

In regards to naval units, it is such a long path from one theater to the other that I have never found it worth the effort to do the long journey for the Axis. It is different for the Allies where the Indian Ocean fleet could go through the Suez and meet up with the Med forces, or the other way around.

Air power is where you can have a more practical impact. Having a couple Japanese bombers targeting factories in Russia or Egypt is helpful, although you won’t have enough fighter escorts to raid Moscow in many matches. Getting 1 or 2 German bombers to Asia is crazy good as the Allies won’t be able to ship block the Japanese fleet and hence are forced to be much more cautious in their positioning. This was a key component in my recent OOB championship match.

Always impressive to watch top-level matches such as Adam and Ghost. Best way to improve strategy and tactics.

@gamerman01 thanks. I will wait to declare victory until Elche’s match has officially ended. Give him the chance of a miracle comeback if he can figure out a surprise way to win. Happens sometimes.

@gamerman01. I was absent for May and thought it would extend all the way through August. That’s why I started a match with Pacifiers early.

The match between elche and pacifier has essentially reached a conclusion a long time ago although they haven’t officially called the game.

@gamerman01 that was the game from February. Pacifierboard wanted a match against me and we decided to make it our tentative semifinal game.

@gamerman01 I beat Pacifierboard in the tentative semi-final assuming that he goes on to complete the win against Elche.

If elche somehow pulls out the W against Pacifier, I will face him in a match. If elche beats me, he goes on to face Farmboy.

In all other scenarios, the tournament is complete.

@farmboy that’s the beauty of bombers. I had the quadruple threat of Sea Lion, attacking the Atlantic fleet, and attacking down to Iraq. It is so hard to keep up the arms race against Germany.

I think your bid was a bit low. Probably a different outcome with Allies+50-ish which has become the new norm.

@farmboy thank you so much for the enjoyable match. It was so close and could have gone either way. You lost your American bomber on its first mission. If it had survived and went on to an illustrious service history, that likely would have changed the course of the game.

@farmboy Thank you so much for the match. Such a pleasure with the fast game pace and difficult positional calculations. You pushed me to the limits with so strong of a defense for Russia. I could not break through into the Middle East for so many turns.

You also had great gameplay in China. That small miscalculation in India was costly and difficult to recover from. Japan was struggling for a long time with Anzac’s hold on one of the islands. It was a relief when the spending finally shifted to the Atlantic.
