      3. agreed, he can start convoy raiding right away
      4. definitely agree
      5. not really necessary since he can’t step forward with 7 inf, but I would prefer a tank over a mech. Essentially same defense and much greater attack. You are always short on attack as Russia
        6)agreed
      6. The cruiser ship block in 114 is very essential.

      Additional: you can leave the planes in Moscow and still reach everywhere on the Western front. It allows you to land in Yunnan if there is some miracle and you can support Yunnan on turn 2. Sometimes I rush a mech and tank to Sikang on R1 and then return them back to Moscow if the dice are not looking good for China.

      @simon33:

      The problem of an economic victory condition is how do you have a meaningful one that isn’t present on the initial setup?

      Simple solution: Don’t play with people who won’t give up when the ultimate outcome of the game has been determined.  If you are going to need another 3-6 hours of your life to convince them that the position is hopeless, I recommend giving them the victory and finding a better opponent to play with next time.

      @trulpen guess you aren’t a fan of the FIC strafe.

      You might need the SZ98 transport to ferry soldiers to Egypt. Check the battle calc.

      There is no way to hold India if Japan plays a capture Calcutta at all cost opening strategy. It will fall and Japan will get a bit more income. Meanwhile, they will not be able to control China and will be missing out on big income from Pacific islands. Celebrate if they are putting a huge fleet in SZ39 because ANZAC + China will have huge income for the foreseeable future.

      @surfer building 3 infantry in Ukraine should stop the Germans from attacking. They don’t have any airforce support, so would have to use 3 tanks to capture the town. Two of them would likely die in the attack and the final one could be killed with one Russian infantry next round. That would be an expensive loss for the Germans.

      Add in a plane and Ukraine can’t even be attacked on G4. No Italian can opener to create a safe landing zone for those Gibraltar bombers if I count the squares right. A bit awkward for Germany not to have a bit of support with at least one German bomber and an Italian fast mover.

    • RE: Disastrous turn 1 for Italy. Is there a point in continuing?

      I would wipe out the remaining Allied fleet on G2. Chances are that you lose 2 of of your planes which isn’t great but is very manageable. If you get totally diced and lose 4 or 5 German planes, it might be a sign that the dice gods are against you and you might want to restart.

      You are a tad bit behind a “normal” opening, but if you still have that bomber and some fast movers, Italy can clear the way into Russian territory. Just make sure that Rome is not lost and you have done your job. Germany can eventually capture Greece without much loss. The game will go on. It is easy to make up the lost ground if the Allies make any small mistake like miscalculating a fleet battle in the Pacific.

      The only times that I restart early game is if I get totally diced in France and lose all of my German fast movers that are so necessary to pressure Russia later on. Hard to recover from that swing.

      1. if you win the battle in the Carolines and stack the sea zone with all of the Allied fleet, and land the ANZAC planes on the island, you should be able to withstand a full attack. If you lose the battle (4% chance), and can’t land supporting planes on the island, I think he will destroy your fleet. Worth double checking the numbers since you lose the game if he destroys your Pacific fleet. My question is why park in Caroline this round if you are going to retreat back to Queensland next round?

      2. What are you planning to do with so many American transports? You don’t yet control the Pacific, won’t control the Pacific with just one more carrier + destroyer, and probably won’t control it for a while. You are in big trouble in Europe compared to a standard game, where you normally are in big trouble.

      3. When do you plan to switch spending to the Atlantic? China and India are actually in a great position compared to a standard match. I am really shocked that Yunnan is alive and well. Soon you will have 19 inf + 4 art + a plane in China. I don’t really understand this Japanese plan for Andrew, but this is the biggest force that I have seen in ages.

    • RE: Beating J1

      I have seen some ANZAC players focusing mainly on preventing capture of Sydney, freeing up USA to execute a KGF strategy. In an OOB game, the Allies will usually get completely overwhelmed in on-line games where players have more time to consider each move. However, you might have more of a chance in face-to-face games where simple blunders can mean losing a capitol far earlier than it should normally happen.

    • RE: Tutor game: AndrewAAGamer (X) vs trulpen [and everyone else] (A+50) OOB

      @Saber25

      1. agreed. Skip the BB and get subs + destroyers + carriers for more efficient attack and defense. I never buy a battleship in a on-line game.

      2. agreed. Cairo needs to be reinforced as soon as possible. The question will be how long the factory will be held. If USA supports Europe, it like will hold out enough turns. If not, Egpyt will fall in 3 more turns.

      3. You can’t afford a bomber spam yet. You need to recapture Gibraltar first, and to get Gibraltar you need Allied fleet.

      4. Japan is heading to Russia. No need to keep spending that much more in Asia. Japan is giving up his major attack against China so the income will be a bit less than a normal game.

    • RE: What is the most unusual/annoying/strange allied bid

      With enough spend, it is possible to reinforce Yunnan with enough force to prevent Japan from retaking it on J2: ground units in Szechwan, Kweichow, Burma, India, Caucasus, Volgorad and Mayala can all reach (25-33 bid). Add in an initial Yunnan infantry, along with two more allied planes that can all reach. Altogether, you need 48-53 bid which is often in the range of OOB bids.

      It is easy to add 22-40 extra defensive points in Yunnan, making it virtually impossible for Japan to take and hold until J4 or J5.

      Yeah, you have such valuable planes to fill out the Navy. If you abandon hopes of conquering India, this frees up so much income to delay the inevitable defeat in the Pacific.

      It is all about forcing the Allies to keep spending more turns on your side of the board, giving Germany time to get their income up. I would consider a heavy spend on German bombers since it will project power in three directions: Moscow, Middle East, and the Atlantic. If they can build up 15+ bombers, it will be very difficult for the Allies to have an amphibious invasion of Normandy or Norway once they switch attention to Europe.
