      I think the recommended one was bomber, 5 inf, 2 tanks but all inf plus bomber would work as long as Russia can’t advance. Really, the key is that the med ships go west, the Baltic navy is in z7 with the original Atlantic sub, planes are massed at Western Europe, and Germany buys a bomber.

      It would be extrange for China needing a convoy route for transporting supplies from Shangai or Korea (both in the mainland) to chinese capitol at Chongquing (also in the mainland)  :-D

      I would agree with Frimmel, bombers and subs the first turn, with a Marine or two, preferably built at Hawaii.  Focus on taking out the Japanese transports whenever you can.  From Turn 2 on, gradually start building more Marines and transports, along with fighters and a carrier or two.  Grabbing New Britain is a big help in forcing the Japanese to look in several directions.  Putting AA guns in at every base is also a good idea, as the Japanese have a hard time building enough aircraft to replace losses.  Basically your aim should be that the Japanese are loosing close to if not more IPCs in units than they will receive each turn.

      Besides end game move, when would you ever bring air units to a radar territory?

      When I want too.  AA Guns don’t scare me.

      And if they did, just get Jets and become almost immune. (Not immune to radar, but it negates it bringing it back to normal.)

      But you have a good three rounds before you need to really keep up with America, maybe 4 if you play your cards right.

      And the raiding would help out.  5 Submarines = 10 IPC a round if you can ever knock out the American fleet, which, honestly, is doable, but difficult.

      if you have excess money to buy navy with russia i’d rather spend it on fighters and then use the one sub as sort of a fodder pieace. that way once your navy objective has been covered you can switch to land easily and i think fighters are great.

      Actually, if you needed fodder pieces for Russia, I’d go with Transports.  Then you can shoot down planes. :P

      Enhanced doesn’t alter the ability to move out of a contested sea zone as part of a combat movement.  Bean is correct.

      Look at the Sequence of play as well.

      Buy units
      Combat movement
      Resolve combat  <==  detection occurs here, AFTER combat movement.
      non combat movement
      etc

      Hopefully you get the point.

      Even though I’m an idiot (you can’t get a ship from SZ 13 to SZ 1 in one turn), I went for it. Took England with 1 ARM, losing only 3 fighters.

      UK took it back with 1 INF, 2 FIG…and US reinforced with 3 INF, 1 ART, 3 ARM (on 5 transports…as I said before, he’s not the best with America, he failed to send a Fighter either).

      I had two transports on my next turn, and since US had failed to land a fighter in England, I still had my Luftwaffe bonus, so I went for it and took UK AGAIN with 1 ARM, losing only 3 more fighters.

      I still had my fleet, I still had 2 FIGS, and I’d recieved about 140 IPCs over 2 rounds. With me in control of Africa, Japan making steady progress on all three routes to Moscow, and the US absent from the Pacific, our opponents conceeded.

      What I find most amusing was that our strategy all along was to take Moscow. Poor play on Americas part in supporting Britain enabled me to win the game with Germany almost as an afterthought.  :-D

      I am playing a game of Enhanced, and I am Germany.

      After a disastrous battle in SZ 30, UK is limited to North Atlantic operations. His Atlantic fleet is in SZ 3 with 1 AC, 1 BB, 2 TRN and 2 Jet Fighters.

      I am expecting a Russian sub block in SZ 5, but I can still hit the British fleet with 5 FIGS, 1 BOM and 2 SUBS….

      I am set for at least two rounds against Russia, have taken Egypt, and America is two turns away from reorienting to aid Britain should the UK Navy suddenly cease to exist before UK2.

      So hit the Brits with planes and subs…or not? And what is your reasoning?  :-)

      Does Germany need her fighters else where for offense or defense?
      If not, I’d take a shot at it.

      You could add wolfpack as an NA (if it’s G2) and go in with 7 threes and 1 four.
      You’d be going against 2 ones, 1 two, 1 four and 2 fives.

      Germany should get 4 hits, Allies get 4 (give them the good roll)
      What do the allies lose?  BB damage, 2 tpts… a/c?  Ftr?

      you’d still have 3 ftrs and a bomber on BB (damage) and 2 jet ftr, this is worse case.
      Allies could get only 3 hits… letting you trade 2 subs and 1 ftr for 2 tpts and a/c.

      I’d take that trade as Germany.

      I think you have to go through one round of the battle and see how many hits each side gets, then decide if you want to continue or not.

      I hope you’re not taking me as a Rules ‘Nazi’, but the rules of Enhanced are the way they are to ensure a fair, balanced game.

      You could be right, the lack of playing by the rules, that might explain some of the imbalances you have observed.

      A rules nazi is someone who doesn’t take into account that we’re playing on a forum and not face to face.  Not someone who enforces the rules. :P

      As always, it depends what the board looks like after Moscow falls.  Typical board would probably have Japan holding all of UK’s territories except Canada and Great Britain.  With an income that low how long could UK really hope to last against a combined GER/JAP with income over 100 IPC?

      It depends on how persuasive British ladies are.

      Build up in SZ 2 sending America ships to SZ 1 then over to SZ 2.  Get a few carriers and fighters, lots of transports.  The two battleships you start with should be fine.  As long as you can move the American carriers into the area with British fighters before Germany can go, you should be okay to land troops.  Though, it’s a new tactic by the axis to me.

      I have to assume Russia’s gone, because otherwise, Japan would soon run out of fighters or be pushed off the mainland by Russian hoardes.

      I think Japan must attack the US at Pearl.  It is far more dangerous to leave the US fleet in Pearl than the UK fleet in Sz 30.

      Some players will sink both, but there are pros and cons for that on both sides.

      If I’m Japan, I’ll usually leave that merged fleet and deal with it later if I have to with the full J Navy/airforce.  I could run into trouble if the Allies do go Pac strat, but I prefer to limit my J1 attacks and attack heavy (such as sending everything I can to Pearl and everything else to China).

      I’m in this game agasinst this guy.

      I’m allies hes axis. Germany was holdin out against Sovs and U.K. America and Japan stalemate.
      He builds a v. gd fleet in Japan-transporters x 4 Battleships x 2 Destoyer x 3 Aicraft Carrier x 1.
      america have gd fleet 1 Transporter, 3 Destoyers, 2 Sumbarines.
      Japan attack and destroy all american ships with ease and dump cargo. after a few battles involving around 5-10 tanks and fighters-each, Japan break in and slowly take over all American mainland.
      Meanwhile, Germany have been forced out of Europe and after earlier invading Africa it is now being taken over so what is left of Germany has been forced onto boats in a fleet of 5 ships. russia doing all work. Japan onlky has their bits left apart from small islands near Australia.
      At the point of the game Japan have put to much energy in attacking US. They are being pushed back into Japan but are raking in money from rewards so hard to stop. Could probably raid the capital of America but 6 tanks are waiting in Central America.
      In conclusion, it is indeed rare to get into America as the guy i am playing is a veteran and has never seen it done. If you do, expect awards, but you will be unstable from then on. :|

      We’re using a different Luftwaffe I found on these boards somewhere…bonus to each tank accompanied by a fighter…both attack on a four during the first round of combat.

      So three tanks and three fighters is six fours in the first round…bad part is that it doesn’t work against ships.

      But that game is over…all three Allies got Rockets, and Germany was being hit by six Rockets each turn…effectively no income. Japan’s southern force through Persia was hit 1-2-3 by Britain, America and Russia…India was likely to fall on Britains next turn…and Japan no longer had enough to break through on the other two avenues of attack…we just conceeded rather than wait for America and Britain to get their act together and take Berlin.

      Have to agree with Grime here…

      Germany and Japan have to be able to strike Russia together, preferably at least a 1-2-3 punch, 1-2-3-4 if they can manage it.

      Reson being, once Germany starts to go hard on Russia, and has a large stack 2 territories away (about to take Caucuses, West Russia or Arcahngel in FORCE) then suddenly every Allied FIG in existence will make its way to Moscow before the final attack, adding 5-10 FIGs to Russia’s 20 +/- INF means that neither Germany nor Japan can crack Moscow alone.
