      Assuming you correct the AA casualties issue the real difference is just Round 1 if the Germans hit/miss or the Russians hit/miss. I ran Round 1 using the 3 fighters as casualties and taking hits on both sides as below. Starting a new battle from there and correcting the AA hits gives you an average of 13 and a half units left.

      Technically there are four possible outcomes due to the dice remainders (Germans = 5 Russians = 3). After taking 3 fighters as AA casualties if the Germans hit with the 5 (83%) the Russians lose 34 units and have 68 left versus 69 if the Germans miss. The Russians have a 50-50 shot at getting 38 or 39 German units killed including the AA casualties. So looking at those four possible outcomes:
      a) Germans hit and Russians miss 41.5% = Russians lose 35 while Germans lose 38 = 14.86 units left = 6.167
      b) Germans hit and Russians hit = 41.5% = Russians lose 35 while Germans lose 39 = 12.92 units left = 5.362
      c) Germans miss and Russians hit = 8.5% = Russians lose 34 while Germans lose 39 = 10.95 units left = 0.931
      d) Germans miss and Russians miss = 8.5% = Russians lose 34 while Germans lose 39 = 12.83 units left = 1.091

      So I did 1.5 better than average due to your poor dice rolling. However the calculator was off by 4.5 units. Pretty significant especially when they are all planes.

      If you actually ran through the battle you would have seen that tripleA is taking one fighter and two tactical bombers as AA casualties. This is because there are more tactical bombers than fighters and it wants to even them out. However since there are tanks involved the correct casualty list is taking 3 fighters. Amazingly enough those two extra pips is the difference between 9 units left and 12 units left.

      Seriously you should have killed 3 more planes. The average was winning by 12 units and I ended up with 15.
