      Agreed. Or at least just Sicily (to show that Sardinia wasn’t necessary). I would like a more general bonus that increases the value of the other Mediterean islands, kind of like what the Balanced Mod 3 version does.

      I agree with Witt. Hem the Soviet Navy in. It’s what the Germans did in real life.Even if you didn’t destroy it it can’t do anything (unless they bought some transports to attack Berlin, but then they wouldn’t want to get out)

      If the game had no political restrictions you might need to judge whether the Soviet player will attack you if you didn’t let them through.

      Had the Western Front been a conflict along the borders focusing on the fortresses and strongholds I can see the French and possibly English sending a large Expeditionary Force into the East.

      Russia had one in France.

      No, just see:

      it is bc it opens the door for a german blitz.

      key trick isnt the infantry thing thats too slow.  daves move is to grab the tank off africa to add another one, and use the yugoslavia retreat trick with both germany and italy in sucession

      I’m biased since I live in wcanada.Since about 1875 there has been a naval base in wcanada.Its not huge but I’d bet in ww2,it was equivalent to bases in NewZealand,Africa,Australia.I’m wondering what effect it would have on game if uk started with a base in wcanada?
        Esquimalt naval base its called.

      So this is what I tried in place of bids.
      Each power,in the same order as play so Germany 1st France last,gets to relocate 1 starting unit (with the exception of ICs and capital ships)to a place only where they already have another starting unit.
        For example:Russia can start a tank in amur instead of moscow.
                          Germany starts  cruiser in sz113.
                        Italy moves dd from sz96 to 97
                          Us puts a 2nd fig in Phillipines
      I think its gives allies a better chance b/c they start with more units out of position and they would ,for the most part, make their choices after axis.

      Yeah, I was thinking roughly the same.
      Except for the port taking damage but that is just another way to install repaircost ;-).

      Only +1 move when moving strategically from a port (no combat during movement), not necessarily to another port, sounds interesting!

      And yes guys, destroyers can cause damage to Battleships if operating together with heavier class ships. I still feel it’s more of an exception (and a rather heroic one) than common engagement as DDs without heavier support usually flee to a safe distance if they spot an enemy BB, or sacrifice themselves to protect a bigger prize, for example a crippled and fleeing friendly Battleship.
      For the record: I was not talking about CAs or even BCs, however dreadful they might be. Not to mention the exemplary heroics of a DD crew engaging such heavy ships!
