@ncscswitch:
There are so many problems with OOB rules that basically no one uses them anymore.
He’s callin me basically no one.

@Amon:
i ve tried it, dont know how this game will end though, but early German attack on Russian forces at least brings a lot of fun in the game
It was actually rattling me pretty good until you left those 8 ARM out to dry on G4…
And the other disadvantage is that you have allowed the other Allies to have increased income during the entire game to date (Allies ahve held Western, Southern and Eastern at various times), even with the Japan advances in Asia.
yes, those tanks- my panzer divisions
but as i said there you re in advantage but i am still in the game
if i somehow get Moscow :-o
I started to play revised last year (2006) so it is about one year. I play with may playing group, and we are all green players at A&A.
I have joined this forum from two months, transferring the idea I read here to my friends. Our games are becoming more and more interesting.
do you play with weapons devealopment and national advantages
if not you should try it, especially usin the NAs
the true fun starts there
Let’s say that during G1 I attack the UK battleship in SZ 13 with my sub from SZ8 and my battleship and transport from SZ14 with the idea of maybe taking the UK battleship but at least being able to retreat the battleship and transport to SZ 12 and submerging the sub. My question is what happens with my sub and the UK battleship left in SZ 13? The manual says that the sub remains submerged until the end of the noncombat move phase, but this doesn’t trigger combat. But then UK1 rolls around so what happens if UK wants to move their battleship or reinforce SZ 13 with the UK destroyer from SZ 15? thanks for the help.
well my question to you is, if you want to as i see merge you fleets by retreating from West Med why to leave your sub there, bring it with other units
but retreating from that attack is something i wouldnt advise
the thing with the sub is that even if it submerges on UK1 UK can
:attack your sub with the bat and other units brought to that battle
:run away with the bat and destroy your sub with the airforce
in both ways you didn get well there as i see it
DM,
I am wondering if it might be worth it to Germany to kill those Russians on Round 1? You effectively half their standing army and you do have 40 IPC income to their 24 (26 with W. Russia added.)
Just wondering, not advocating at this point.
Frood:
Normally I end up attacking with 2 Inf, 1 Fig vs 1 Inf if I want to possess the territory. Not 1 Inf, 2 Fig. A) Defenders do have a 33% chance to hit. B) Fighters can’t take land. C) How often can Russia devote both fighters to a trade territory instead of one each to two trade territories?
i ve tried it, dont know how this game will end though, but early German attack on Russian forces at least brings a lot of fun in the game
Not sure exactly when the MB version came out….
so I stopped at 1982.I started in 1986 (21 years!!)
in 2004, played only Revised and D-Day so far
Just curious,
When you attack W. Russia and W. Russia ONLY for R1, what do you attack with?
Trying to think if there is a way to take W. Russia and hold Caucasus if you don’t attack Ukraine
9 inf( Russia, Arhangelsk, Karelia )
2 art( Russia, Caucaus )
3 ten( Russia, Arhangelsk)
2 fig( Russia, Karelia )
I think the only way to get chat working is to schedule a weekly “chat time.”
I’m thinking Tuesdays at either 12pm PDT or 8pm PDT.
Thoughts?
what is PDT
i am not near your Time zone but still would like to see chat onroll
How many have seen W. Russia, Ukraine and E. Europe fall to Russia on R1?
maybe Norway instead Eastern?
How many have seen W. Russia, Ukraine and E. Europe fall to Russia on R1?
i played only once this strategy and i failed in Eastern
well it can be done
in a good KGF game maybe it isnt needed all three victories
a draw can be fine in Eastern maybe
what is important is that Germany losses full army in three territories, and afcorse USSR will capture at least one of those 3
More importantly, you can not look at one countries goals in a vacuum, especially with the allies. If you intend to bleed Germany dry (as in a typical KGF strategy), you PROBABLY WANT TO kill as many germans as possible with all three allies at once. Germany can not do everything with her limited resources (opportunity cost). Again, here is a strategic option that chess can not represent (3 on 1)
yes, for going KGF attacking Ukraine is something obligatory, except there was 2 or 3 units bided to help defense
than USSR can attack Norway or Belorussia
but some would still try to go take Ukraine
dont know the odds there in that case but
Usually Russia will own both Ukraine and W. Russia on Russia 1. If a bid forces Russia NOT to own Ukraine, then yes, you have netted 28 IPC from your bid, the total cost of replacing all the units you otherwise would have lost.
And yes, there is more too it then that. Not only did you not take those units, but they are available on Round 1, an increase in value. Not only available, but in position to do something, again an increase in value.
i agree, if you go KGF
otherwise, see it diferently
I’d be most interested to see a correlation between bid amount and axis win rates
eg. with bid of 7, Axis wins 45% of games
What’s really needed is a database…
this is a good idea indeed
@Deaths:
What ever the bid turns out to be, GIVE it all to Japan.
Why?
How?
agree with you on this one, and death your avatar doesnt stand for what you are tryin to say here, or am i wrong
The new theme is really great Djensen
a great job
i personally like those light colors, they are indeed a new refresh to the site
altough has been strange for first day but now i think i am getting used to it
great job
Good point Cyan. I don’t usu. attack Ukraine as I said so I’m not totally familiar with it.
no ones said even if it had 1 inf, 1 aa yet. aleast i know what bid i might try out next time.
i bet if NPB has here he would say something like:
what? a FREE aa gun for russia? thats better than crack for an owl. :lol
yes, thats his stile indeed 8-)
Think of it this way:
Once you are retreating units out of combat, they may not perform any more action(s) that turn. Their only action is to move 1 step to an adjacent space (planes excepted).
thanks
It means the UK hits the German fleet, weakens it, and then the US hits and hopefully finishes the job.
A 1-2 strike is usually necessary to destroy a well-defended territory.
In this case, I haven’t run the numbers - let’s see…
The median outcome for the UK attack on UK2 is that the UK navy is wiped out and the Germans lose 2 TRN and 1 Sub
That leaves 2 Fig, 2 Sub, 1 Des, 1 Car, 1 Bat. for the US to deal with. For that, it has 2 TRN, 2 DD, 3 Ftr 1 Bom that can be in range, and I guess the US could build 1 or 2 Bombers on US1 to prepare. I guess the US can do it with avg. 3 Bom 1 DD surviving. That’s with AVERAGE luck.
So then the Allies have no navy at all, and neither do the Germans. Trouble is that the Allies can’t even get in the game without a navy, while Germany can be quite happy without one esp. if the Allies don’t have one and there’s still a healthy luftwaffe to force the Allies to build expensive escorts for their new transports.
We’ll see how it plays out. Right now I’m more miffed about the loss of a UK fighter and the presence of a German tank in Egypt…
well it doesnt seem like a too good solution if you ask me, i simply dislike it
