      And that would reflect what the Allies actually did in 43 when they invaded Italy via Sicily.

      @AlphaKappa:

      I’ve been looking for a control tower for air bases.  Good luck with your molds!  Hope that comes out well.

      Thanks! Ill be sure to post them, as well as offer them if anyone would be interested. I moved here (CA) from WA awhile back, I knew where to get all that casting stuff, ive looked here, cant seem to find anywhere locally… ordering online is murder, shipping jugs of liquid… in addition, not sure what im getting. I may end up using fiberglass resin, something this small, should be fine… just takes long to cure and I gotta make a grip, unlike the casting resins, takes like 30 seconds.

      I also have a large variety of Facility markers, including air, naval, factory, and anti-aircraft.

      And smaller-size 3/4" chips meant to replace the original 7/8" Axis & Allies game chips to save space (shown in pic).

      They are slightly taller than A&A OOB German Infantry but it’s almost indistinguishable.

      Aren’t the Japanese OOB infantry the shortest of all, anyway?

      I can’t recall offhand, but I once posted some pictures in this thread…

      “Amerika Combat Pieces from HBG – Japanese set Reg & Exp – 90 Pieces.”

      I’m interested in maybe 8 of the infantry pieces, some of the tanks, and some of the planes, but I don’t have room for the rest.  Does anyone want to work out a deal to buy all of the other pieces from me if I win this auction for $45?

      If you are really looking for a good finish on all your HBG pieces, you could buy a couple small cans of differing lacquers and test each one. $20 should get almost 3 cans worth. It may be a waste to some degree, but at least you can know for sure which one works best.

      I have a flat Testors lacquer/sealant spray that I used on Tall Paul’s finished pieces. Granted, these were painted first, so the effect may be thrown off. However, I will say that I did not observe any level of gloss on the HBG or OOB pieces after I applied it. It was quite flat as advertised. FWIW.

      @Buran:

      I have just received my US units I have attached some photos.  I was just wondering if what the fifth air unit is?  It looks like an F6F Hellcat fighter.  But there is nothing on the website about it.

      Nice!  They look pretty good.  How’s the color compared to the OOB stuff?

      HBG Olive Drab color is very close to Global 40 2nd Edition IMHO.

      I don’t know, Coach!  I just bought a few of your new Shermans from a friend and I was pleasantly surprised that they match my 1st Edition US pieces pretty well.   :wink:

      These Sherman sculpts are ace.  You guys did a good job with these and now I’m looking forward to getting some of the other ones too.

      EDIT:  Okay, upon closer inspection in daylight, I changed my mind.  They are definitely closer in tone to 2nd Edition US.

      We just got a couple of these in at the game store that I work for.  Has anyone here played it?
      https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/177725/they-come-unseen

      Apparently it was designed by a sub commander, Andrew Benford.  I think that some of the components look interesting, like the acrylic sonar overlays.  If anyone’s interested, I can try to give it a play and post a review of it here.

      @AlphaKappa:

      How does their height compare to the OOB infantry pieces?  The pictures on HBG’s website make them look pretty tall, but without seeing them side-by-side, it’s hard to tell.

      Can anyone offer any insight, or maybe even post a picture (if you’re feeling generous with your time)?  Any advice would be appreciated!   Thanks.

      Note that the OOB infantry sculpts aren’t all the same height; they vary from nation to nation, as you can see from some of the pictures I posted here:

      Your point is good. The US are not properly represented. But maybe just giving the US the War Bond, Improved Shipyard and Increase Factory Production tech (All 3 when at war) could help to make the US more historical without breaking too much the game. I’ll try it in my next games.

      I will get the exact count later today. I have a lot of extra 1st edition ANZAC pieces that I’d trade.
      I’m looking for:

      Chips from 1942 2nd edition (.75-in diameter)

      ANZAC 2nd edition pieces

      Red Japanese artillery from A&A Pacific (2001)

      HBG battle pieces

      I’m also willing to hear any other offers!

      @CWO:

      Cruiser sculpts are actually fairly easy to distinguish from destroyer sculpts because the destoyer sculpts nearly all have transom sterns, which means that the back part of the ship is square or, in a couple of cases, rounded.  The cruisers have cruiser sterns, which are pointed.  (The first version of the German Hipper-class cruiser had a transom stern, but it was changed to a cruiser stern later.)

      This is a good point.  The ‘flat’ stern of the Destroyers is a distinguishing feature except in the case of Russia, whose Cruiser also has a transom stern.  You’re right, I mean – to the discerning eye, the pieces are certainly distinguishable.  Our play style, however, is usually more on the ‘pushing plastic’ side.  We want to keep it fast and fun and the Crusiers have been by far the biggest source of confusion all the times that we’ve played.

      The best approach I’ve seen was a friend who cut his factories in half with a hacksaw. Large factories are majors, while the smaller, halved factories are minors.

      I’ve got mine painted three different colors. Bought a lot of 50 for a few dollars from a vendor at Nashcon in May 2016.

      Before Nashcon, I used red Monopoly hotels for the major factories and the green hotels for minor factories. I still like to use the green ones every now and again because I think they’re nifty.
