    • Axis and Allies Global 1940 A+2 complete game

      Attached is the links to my photojournal of axis and allies global 1940 A+2

      Had loads of fun playing!

      Learned quite a bit about playing Global.

      1.  Japan must attack russia
      2. Japan should build an IC in hong kong
      3. Kill Japan First strategy should work well, unless London falls or italy is going nuts awesome.

      Feel free to friend me on Facebook !  I love talking some A and A!

      ……what round is it.

      Verified in my photo pics that we are on Japan’s turn J8  in the Eighth turn.

      It is Japans turn to buy we stopped right after russia.  After reviewing my pics I forgot to add that the Caroline Islands are captured by USA, but no units are present .  I am working on the photo journal.  visit Axis an Allies.org on Facebook!

      We played till 6 am  and I haven’t gone back to check which round I am on.  I believe it is Round 8 that we are playing in since I just got my Far East forces back to Russia. I started about 5 pm  and my friend JJ Gauthier took over Anzac, UK India, Anzac, China and France (2 infantry left)  in Round 4.  I continue to run the United States and the Soviet Union.  Der Fuhrer Kelly Schernik is running the Nazi’s Italy and Japan.

      We’re learning that Japan almost HAS to hit Russia.  That 9 extra IPC’s makes Russia just too powerful for the Nazi’s to take on alone.  A2+ is awesome.

      @coolrunner:

      it does not depend on the value of the units but how many units and the type of units you have, and in which territories they are placed, if you look on whom is going to win the game. So don’t use that form of calculation, it gives you a wrong picture.

      I agree with the calculation of the total income. that is a much better indicator for who is up and who is down…

      I do find TVU to be a useful judge of force strength in my own thought and arguments with myself about investing the United States IPCs in one particular theatre or another.  Looks like I’ve let Japan get too big!  Hopefully I’ll get to continue this saturday

      This was played with the A2+ rules.

      I have pictures ,  but it will take some time to make my photo journal.  Additonally I’m not sure if Facebook will allow an NON facebook member to see my photos even if they are made “public”  so friending me is an awesome idea once I have the photos up! Gonna take a while though…  probably going to be 500 photos by the time its done to show the total game.

      where we stand on our game. hoping it posts this time!  Feel free to set it up and play it if you wish…  hope to give the final results!

      Axis – 128 IPCs TVU 814
      Allies – 189 IPCs TVU 1019
      The Allies have the income and total value of units, upper-hand against the Axis.  The Axis could still pull off the pacific map campaign as the TVU’s for the Allies (280) = Anzac (14), UK India (12), China (8) United states West (246) is dwarfed by Japan’s (429) TVU total!  So the game isn’t actually over by any means.

      The Axis TVU (385) Germans (271) Italians (114) is dwarfed however by the Allies TVU (739) UK London (259) United States East (165) French (6) and Soviet forces (237) so Nazi Germany has turned with Stalingrad!  Wow I even built T34’s and recaptured the city!

      Should The United States risk losing the Pacific theatre and invest all out in Germany?  Or should it let the British and Soviets bear the economic brunt while investing heavily in United States West to turn the tide against Japan?

      Will the Soviets fall?  Or will the red army continue to build on their recent victory?

      Exciting questions to be determined!

      @kilroynothere:

      OK, sounds like we have 3 so far. That’s fantastic. I also know one or two in San Marcos that might be interested.  Saturday’s are the best day for me and am willing to start rather early and finish late (and need coffee just like Heimsath!).

      My availabilities right now are:
      Jan 22 - this Saturday strangely enough
      Feb 5
      Feb 19
      Feb 26

      I’m interested in playing the new Alpha+.2 Global setup as from my limited experience OOB is a bit skewed, but willing to play whatever the group is interested in.

      you can reach me as well at cl78704@gmail.com

      my email is james.wynn@qwest.com  sorry I have been busy for the past few months….  I should be getting Axis and Allies Pacific soon.

      @Funcioneta:

      Unless that the other side has dds, submarines always can submerge (and avoid death) before rolling any dices. The german sub coul make a try against the sovie sub, but not against the bb

      Also, it’s obvious that they ignored the capital sack rules … indeed this made a better gameplay for them …

      A interesting approach for the Axis. I usually prefer boost Kriegsmarine defenses and attack USSR round 3, but I see how this can have its merit. It probably needs a bit of polishment, but it’s good see the good old land push some times

      Also, no need of alpha stuff … that’s the way to go!  :-)

      It was our third game.  So we kind of screwed up some of the rules after further review.

      Battleships I believed could engage a sub without a destroyer. I thought it was only planes that needed a sub?

      The Fuhrer Kelly Schernick forgot as I did that Rome was his capitol.  this has to do with the fact that a Minor Industrial is in Rome and his Major is elsewhere.    He should have not given up his capitol so easily

      I thought that America could attack on the third turn.  The collect income phase is after combat is done and non combat…  I take responsibility for that.

      I hope at the very least folks will enjoy seeing us play .  We are very dedicated fans.  All the rule changes get a bit muddled after 2 turns and 2.5 hours of planning and dedicated execution.  Sometimes I think we need a referee  to keep it all straight.  But its AWESOME.

      We will continue to make gameplay photo galleries.  Or at least. I will…  but EXPECT Fuhrer Kelly Schernick to win much more in the future than I… James Wynn.  He’s better at this game than I am.  I got luck on my Defense of France rollls…  and I doubt he will fall for my Belarus (suck in German invading Infantry) counter attack from Bryansk stategy.  He fell for it because Belarus does not have AA guns and he thought his planes would do better and leave enough tanks and men to counter the counter attack.  If you kill the infantry…  you can halt the German invasion for sure…  at least long enough for America and Britian to put pressure on Germany from the West as it should be for WWII.

      Hey AllyAxis,

      I live in South Austin and definitely would like to play. I’ve been playing a PBEM global40 that has been fun, but much too slow. I can also devote a day to play here and there.

      let me know if you are still looking for players.

      love to play with you sometime.  especially if we can get Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 and go Global.  We don’t own the game.  I live in Wells Branch…  will play some future saturday…  but not sure if it will be this weekend.  Got plans for the 29th of January.  Can’t play on Sundays.  I work.

      interesting way to document a game. i liked it a lot.

      but i did not understand, why the british home-fleet not got sunk in G1, or why rome got captured twice. no wonder italy had been in decline!

      Glad you loved my pictures.  I’m a freak for the game as well as my best friend in Austin Tx Kelly Schernik.

      The Fuhrer Kelly Schernik  I think decided that he could suck off some americans from reinforcing Normandy…  I was surprised he kept leaving it open,  but I kept wasting 3 IPC’s for infantry and 6 ipcs for the Sherman Tank Divison  and of course 7 IPC’s for the transport twice… simply to keep 3 IPC’s from Italy.  but I figured America could waste the money if I could keep Italy from reinforcing the western front.

      @lamdan:

      That is awesome!!!
      But I have a question? Please tell me if I am wrong, been wrong before.
      I thought US can declare war at the beginning of INCOME phase of round 3 preventing them from any combat until combat phase of turn 4 unless axis attacks them earlier.
      In this game US invades normandy on combat phase of turn 3. I know that just delays the US invasion for a turn but who knows?

      Yes, that is correct. The US enters the war in the collect income phase of turn 3. It gets its bonus 30 IPC for being in war this turn, but cannot attack untill turn 4.

      Its our third game  so I guess we mis read the rules.  I still think I would have held out with russia,  but we will do it correctly next time.  the fuhrer Kelly Schernick will be happy to hear of this!

    • RE: Operation Barbarossa, What turn?

      @Pop:

      G3 so far seems the best. I build up trans on turn 2 to make the brits defend against sealion so they can’t put more units in africa. After all if you can’t take and hold alexandria with the italians you can’t win as the axis. When I have waited to turn 4 the US always starts putting too much pressure on europe and the extra turn of Russian build up makes it very difficult to take out all the russian citys before the us is invading.

      couldn’t have said it better myself.  You must attack turn one …  the extra Soviet forces by waiting really do count.  you must decide sea lion or Barbarossa  and go for it before the United States gets in the war.
