    • RE: Accurate Miniature Equivalents for Custom Painting your 1940 E&P

      Sorry guys - I’ve got two A&A projects going simultaneously and I’m trying to put equal effort into both… That and I’m at least trying to pretend I have a life outside all this.

      Flat Brown Camo (Early War, Army)

      Flat Green Camo (Late War, Navy)

      Flat Blue Camo (Ocean Camo)

      Blotched Camo (Tropical, Palm Tree)

      Striped Camo (Mainland China)

      Reticulated Camo (Late War, Tropical)

      Extra Fighters
      Flat Grey (Early War, Navy)
      Flat White (Japan Mainland)
      Bare Metal (Late War, due to lack of materials)

      Japanese Fighters

      Japanese Tactical Bombers

      Japanese Strategic Bombers

      Imperial Japanese Air Force

      Japanese Progress

      @allboxcars:

      @Variable:

      (along with it being a touchy subject of course).

      I am tired of all this touchy stuff. No swastikas, no A-bombs, no ……Perhaps if we just stick our head in the sand it will all go away and will never have happened. The world is full of wimps these days. Face the facts it did happen. Now deal with it.

      Now on this very sensitive subject……
      About this whole… ahem… “war” thang.
      Couldn’t we instead just call it the World Lengthy Difference of Opinion 2?

      This of course would not change the actual facts:
      The Lucky Departure from Dunkirk.
      The Aerial Happening over Britain.
      Churchill’s: “We shall probably disagree on the beaches, in the hills… we shall never unwisely compromise.”
      The Messy Conundrum of Stalingrad.
      Senior Supervisor Eisenhower ordering The Big Beach Party in Normandy… the list goes on…
      … and now if only we could find a way to tidy away all these Small Parcels of Land Allocated to the Formerly Living… hmmm

      The Discordance of the Bulge
      The Debate of Midway
      The Batton Expiration Hike

      I’m out of town for a wedding until Sunday… I’ll finish them on the trip (fortunately they’re pretty mobile) and post pics then. I think you’ll see why it’s taking a bit - I’ve changed the projected air force camo schemes as following:

      12 Strategic Bombers, 12 Tactical Bombers, 24 Fighters

      Six camo schemes for 2 of each air unit, then three additional schemes for the remaining 12 fighters (4 each)

      @allworkandnoclay:

      It’s #8 on the list heh. ‘War of the Rings’ is next.

      Have you seen the collector’s edition of War of the Ring?

      Yea - my paint job will be better than those. I also plan on sculpting my own figures for the game (Gollem, Gandolf the White, etc) and a few of the cities/strongholds from the game.

      …But back on topic - Warlords of Europe: awesome game.

      I’m fooling around with adding my “Age of Mythology” miniatures to the base set of this game. Not sure what angle to take yet but it should be interesting.

      Are you going to paint those too.

      Flashman:

      make the proper roundels for these nations based on 100 years war.

      I am making them and they will look like shields ( coat of arms)

      Make one for each section ( total 6)

      I know you have some knowledge of this period. re-naming the territories offers nothing because the map is already done.

      I am gonna make some nifty house rules:

      1. black death
      2. adding kings
      3. fleets
      4. alternative mercenary rules
      5. crusades
      6. neutral armies
      7. ?

      Have you painted any yet?

      Nope - sculpting some stuff and sticking with the A&A fest.

      @Variable:

      @i:

      what do you mean by main land??

      He painted two different schemes for the Anzacs. I imagine he’s doing the same for the Japanese. One set, the mainland set, will be used to attack China and India. The other set, will be the ones attacking the US and Anzacs. This is my guess.

      Exactly - Here’s my projected list for my Japanese set:

      40 Infantry - 2 uniforms

      6 Mech Inf - 2 Camos (wish I had 6 more mechs, debating buying a second set…)
      12 Artillery - 2 Camos
      16 Tanks - 2 Camos

      24 Fighters - 4 Camos (can’t wait for the Zeros)
      12 Tact Bombers - 2 Camos
      8 Strat Bombers - 2 Camos

      12 Subs - 1 Camo
      12 Transports - 2 Camos
      12 Destroyers - 2 Camos
      8 Cruisers - 2 Camos
      8 Carriers - 2 Camos
      8 Battleships - 2 Camos

      Some of my other sets will include more/less camos and uniforms sets. Here’s the rest of the infantry uniform list:

      3 USA - European, African, Pacific
      2 Russia - Standard, Winter
      3 UK - European, African, Pacific
      4 Germany - German Grey, European (camo), Afrikan, Winter (I love the Germans heh)

      @Brain:

      @Dr.:

      @Brain:

      FMG is already making replacements for the WOTC cardboard debacle.

      Who/what is “FMG?”  A google search only turned up a graphic design company.

      Here is their website:

      http://www.fieldmarshalgames.com/

      However their pieces that they are developing can only be found here:

      http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=13894.0

      I didn’t see anywhere in that forum where it mentioned new ICs or bases… Also no tactical bombers - Mostly stuff for AAA and AA50.

      I’m still going to get it of course.

      Variable: That’s what I was thinking about doing, but I’d rather have completely different pieces (just doesn’t look right for me).

      @Flashman:

      Haven’t you considered using other figs for the infantry?

      Latest Germans from Caesar:

      http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/FirstLook.aspx?id=1827

      He wouldn’t be able to mass produce them, if there were more than a few poses.

      It’s not a problem with mass production, it’s just that a) they don’t have the right stands for the roundel (which is my favorite part of the set), b) I’m trying to remain true to the A&A series, and c) I’ve already spent $750 on paint/brushes/etc - not trying to spend any more.

      Japan infantry will be finished tonight. Check in later for pics.

      I want to keep all the nation units true to the A&A set even though I’ve thought about outside units.

      I just host my pics on my website. If you want to email me yours I could put them up there and give you the link.

      chad@allworkandnoclay.com

      Can I get a link to the website?

      Well it’s my professional artist page - I just host the pics on the site much as the same as a source like photobucket or the like… They won’t be displayed on an actual page there, just hosted there.

      I haven’t started the miniatures section for the site yet, but it is coming soon. But if you want to see some of my sculptural and ink work, my website is:
