China looks like it something Japan will be forced to deal with. If they don’t China could become very painful. This will require resources that Japan may not be able to afford (opportunity cost). For example, if Japanese units are tied up early removing the Chinese, the US pacific fleet might be more free from pressure and can have some easy early war gains.

RE: Pictures Thread
Macro level people… remember that. Axis & Allies utilizes a world map and there are references to some division level forces that were used in a small percentage of the battles during WWII. That is a micro level. You can not really mix the two very well, it just doesn’t work out, IMHO.
There are plenty of games that deal with the micro-level of battle if you want that sort of unit.

RE: Income Collecting Rule
IPCs can be also thought as collecting the spoils of war, something that happened quite often on WW2. Defeat the enemies forces and afterwards you’d capture/recover intact and damaged enemy equipment, not to mention food, ammo, oil, etc.
I like that one.

Long and arduous. All we did was go fishing really, and well, “camping” if you can call a mobile home that isn’t so mobile camping really.
what kind of fish did you catch?

RE: Most Important Piece
@Cmdr:
Actually, I am quite proud that I, and game play, have convinced about 25% of the voters
….
40 votes Russian Fighter
10 votes British BomberI really, really look for things to agree with you about jen. I like your enthusiasm in your analysis. But im confused. How can you incorrectly quote vote results that are posted at the top of this thread. How can anyone agree with you when your misrepresent obviously verifiable facts. Note the time and date of my post here. I am going to reproduce the numbers I see at the top:
ONE Russian Fighter 34 (79.1%)
ONE British Bomber 7 (16.3%)
ONE Japanese Fighter 1 (2.3%)
ONE American Bomber 0 (0%)
ONE German Fighter 1 (2.3%)
Remove VoteTotal Voters: 43
Look, they even include a handy % next to the number for us!! sweet. So 43 total votes. 7 for UK bomber. And logically, if 79.1% of the votes are for the russian fighter, it does not mean Jen can claim the other 20.8%. There are other options, created be Jen herself. Think of those as the Nadar vote, it doesnt count for your side Jen.
Again, why should we debate easily verifiable facts, especially ones posted at the top of the page!!!
Hence my observation of the Florida vote count (no political agenda was implied!)

RE: Most Important Piece
@Cmdr:
Actually, I am quite proud that I, and game play, have convinced about 25% of the voters that the British Bomber is more important to the grand scheme of things than a single Russian fighter.
I wonder how many of the Russian Fighter votes are influenced by experiences in Classic Axis and Allies where the Russian fighter was incredibly more important than it is in Revised.
Still rounding the numbers we have:
40 votes Russian Fighter
10 votes British BomberWhich proves one thing: My assertation that the British bomber is the most important piece on the map is not a solitary position and not a loony position to take.
In either case, no one wants to leave the Russian fighters as the sole defender of Karelia at the end of Russia 1 nor leave the British bomber the sole defender of Italian East Africa at the end of England 1. On that, I am sure we all can agree!
Sounds like you were working for the Gore camp in Florida based on your vote observations.

RE: Most Important Piece
Finally I do not remember who said this thing: the exact attribute for the UK bomber is no valuable is EXPENDABLE, and I agree. The UK bomber is expendable in the sense that it is useful to sent it in combat, because if it is lost, UK player may be sad but have no problem to continue without the bomber.
That was me :)

RE: British counterattack in EGY on UK1
UK bomber is more important because if you lose it, it’s lost for all the game. How many bombers purchase the people for UK? I have seen some for germans, japaneses, USA and one time even one for soviets :-o , but I have to see one bomber purchased for UK.
Then, buying a fig for soviets is not so rare.
To me, your post PROVES how important that piece is. In what way?
The russian fighters are so important, they get REPLACED if lost. The UK bomber, however, is not replaced… it’s EXPENDABLE.

RE: Who makes out better with the bid?
@LT04:
My group doesn’t normally use the bid system. After giving it some thought and doing some reading here it sounds like most give the big to Germany. Why?
LT
EDIT: I am assuming that the bid is going to Germany and Japan.
I’ve wondered the same thing. We don’t use the bid either LT
How experienced are your play groups? With more game play, the allies can better take advantage of the 3 on 2 advantage as well as rely on defense more.

RE: Special Sub Scenario
Thanks so much, that makes everything alot more clearer. One more thing though, I still don’t fully understand the sub sneak attack. Like whats the point of the subs firing first (assume no destroyer present) on defense if the attacker still gets to fire back? Also if the subs say attack a lone battleship, they can fire and then submerge without the battleship firing back?
The subs get opening fire shots. When an enemy destroyer is not present, these opening fire casualties are removed before the defender gets a defensive roll in the round of combat.
In your example, both subs would’ve need to hit to remove a transport.
The rule also for submering is that AFTER each round of battle, if there are no enemy destroyers, your subs may submerge.

RE: Japanesse attack on US mainland
As the allies, I like it when they (Japan) take the fight to the US. Pressure on Russia is greatly reduced and ground units are the most cost effective piece (US buys)
As Pertucci08 points out, it’s hard to catch the US off guard to gain an upperhand. A compentant US player will buckle down with bunches of inf/art to keep Japan at bay.

RE: Suicidal question
@Amon:
i know its odd
but
is it allowed to remove( some )of your units from the board
i mean to simply destroy them
or is it against the rules
thanks
Kill or be killed
no surrendering in this game (that’s what removal of units would be akin to)

RE: Was he killed or it was just an accident
I don’t think they are mysterious, just that people wanted to paint him bad anyway they could, even by conjecture.
A plane going down isn’t necessarily mysterious.
Well a plane that crashes always involves an investigation into its cause, so your example actually is the worst example of what is not mysterious
Strictly by definition :
mysterious is a form of mysterymys·ter·y1
–noun, plural -ter·ies. 1. anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown: the mysteries of nature.(although I can postulate what you are trying to say with your example)

RE: Soccer in USA
At least you didn’t mislabel Soccer as ‘football’
I like American football just fine, but it stole the name and barely even connects the ball and feet.
The term Armored Wankball (not mine) seems to fit it more and more. Especially when there are 15 seconds of play and a minute of commercials. Geez.
hmm.
yes, all that action in soccer is way better than the beer commercials
wankerball.

RE: Was he killed or it was just an accident
I am sure you cxan find a web site or two that list these people.
Google returns 453,000 sites:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mysterious+deaths+associated+with+Bill+Clinton
Have fun reading
I’ve read that drek before…it’s all nonsense. People die all the time, it doesn’t mean Clinton called for their deaths though.
If you could, Kevin Bacon would have a lot of explaining to do.
ok then.
I think that’s why they’re called mysterious.
