    • RE: New techs?????????

      I think all LH said was that the tech would improve them. I could be wrong but I haven’t seen more detail.

      My point was that mech inf itself would remain something you buy not something that sits in your game box waiting for a magic dice roll.  :-)

      Nah I think what he has in mind is actual a wedge-like cap but Il Duce seems to wear it square on his brow and so far down on his immense noggin that it looks round.

      I get the impression that if he lifted it off, it could fold flat to lay one side.

    • RE: Axis & Allies Europe 1940 Limited Edition?

      @Axisgirl:

      But will they be the Italy brown that I am used to seeing? Thiers are greyish. AND sold out….:(

      They’re not sold out. That’s just a “place holder” for the status since it means the same as “you can’t order this now”.

      And the grey colour is only for the test sculpts. The actual colours should be the same as their combat dice (see the website) which is fairly close to the OOB colours.

      Allboxcars is a sock?

      Nope.
      That would imply I care sufficiently to generate ersatz support for my postings.

      More important: do you understand that there are things you have yet to learn.

      It looks like you still can fly planes from America to the UK.

      honestly, I’m not seeing that. Looks like one sea zone too many for fighters, at least.

      #711

      Dont forget about airbases.  Certainly looks like 4 sz’s on the way from EUS to North UK which would be short enough for ftrs.

      OK I forgot the airbases.
      But I’m counting 5 unless you’re landing on that neutral-coloured blob I presume is Ireland.

      whoa thats pretty harsh. No need to get uptight. Jesus its not a big deal

      my bad. Consider it removed.

      In it’s place I’ll say….
      “No, I stand by my earlier post.
      To repeat: mech inf is something you build. The tech is an improved mech inf.”

    • RE: German WWII Technology

      @ABWorsham:

      I wonder if Germany had used the assault rifle earlier in the war, how soon would the allies have countered with their own weapon?

      Good question.

      Hmmm, higher ammo consumption would’ve been a pain considering the Allies weren’t firing the same round…

      Wonder if the US would’ve just “boosted” production the BAR?
      Or rushed production of the M1 carbine?

      Uh dude…. this game hasn’t been released yet. That is the whole point of the thread.

      If you want to talk about AAP40, I’m with ya - but lay off AAE40 until we see it.

      OK. Uhh dude, read a few more lines:

      @allboxcars:

      Or at least the expression of an anxiety that our beloved game will not hit the stores in the condition it deserves based on what we’ve seen.

      yeah.
      THAT is the whole point of the thread. Dude.

    • RE: AA diceless varient, well playtested

      @Keredrex:

      more importantly… your taking out the wonderful possibility of rolling 5 1’s on defense and killing tanks and a bomber.
      when we play we keep a log of the game, especially when we have Miraculous rolls… like destroying a fleet cause all the subs hit with 1’s and your enemy had bad roll’s.

      Personally those are my favourites even when I’m the one in the hurt locker over it. Always good for a laugh…

      … but of course I cannot disagree:
      @Keredrex:

      @reloader-1:

      We are trying to expand the A&A community - and yet how will we ever get there when we are so critical of the game we love?

      Well I think this is being critical of the game’s components and the disappointing workmanship.
      Not the game itself although there are some flaws and issues there with rules too… but I think it’s more like exploring the potential of what could’ve been.

      Or at least the expression of an anxiety that our beloved game will not hit the stores in the condition it deserves based on what we’ve seen.

      I should not have to apologize to FNGs for the quality of this awesome game I’m introducing them to… and ask them to pass Monopoly over, explaining it contains superior industrial complex pieces that we need to borrow.

      @reloader-1:

      Also, the fools here don’t realize that incessantly going on and on about mistakes/misprints/typos in games leads to bad publicity, and dissuades many people from buying A&A games. (Which in turn leads to LESS games being produced in the future).
      … Your point is?

      My point is that since you’re calling people names: you’re clearly the fool.

      A fool if you think you have some monopoly on enjoying these games or that anything short of blind devotion to their maker denies others some moral highground.

      And as for any complaints about typos leading to bad publicity… well that’s highly unlikely.
      I think it’s safe to say that a significantly higher number of people will view the actual game firsthand than will even know this forum exists.
      How that game appears to the consumer and his or her friends - warts and all - therefore will have a far greater impact on good or bad publicity that what we voice here.

      And before you touch those replacement tac bombers, better thank those people at the grass roots level who brought the issue to WOTC’s attention… clearly you weren’t one of them.

      @GrizzlyMan:

      Given the choice, I’d avoid helmets altogether and go with beret for the Brits and that garrison cap (wedge) for the Yanks.

      I agree. I’d use something like Monty’s signiture red beret for the British, and either a garrison cap of a naval cover like MacArthur’s for the Americans. I assume the Russians would have a fur cap and the French would have a Kepi, but what about the Italians?

      Actually Monty’s beret was black.  8-)

      Didn’t Il Duce wear something like a fez?

      @Emperor_Taiki:

      Paratroopers launch from airbases, and i am guessing there are notable changes too mech inf and jet fighters.

      Actually I don’t think mech inf will be a tech at all.
