RE: Italian Expansionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
@tamer-of-beasts Often when that happened 2 things would go down:
-
British navy pulls back and I can immediately crush France and Britain’s navy atleast by round 2
-
French-North Africa is secured easily
Then there is the British stack in Egypt, usually they pile up there and leave 1 infantry in Alexandria. I often sacrifice my 3 units in Ethiopia to take Sudan and Kenya, letting UK bottle me up through there (which I am fine with)
If I have the transports and the US hasn’t secured Gibraltar yet, most of the times Egypt falls I dont know maybe round 3-4 and then the Middle East (unless they built a factory in Persia, my chances of winning Egypt are hindered)
But it just depends on the Allies if they are good or not :slightly_smiling_face: Italy often doesnt win Taranto but it has happened once or twice before.
Then the US comes in and it is either I have enough income to sustain a fleet capable of securing the Med and subsequently not having North Africa liberated – or I loose like 2 of my transports and cant reinforce Africa any longer so there is lots of choices there.
Usually round 1 I take Yugoslavia and South France, I haven’t done a “Mainland France Kill G1” before but I might next time I play as Germany. Greece goes next maybe round 2 (there is an inside-joke that Yugoslavia and Greece are warriors because they always roll at 2’s or lower. Usually it takes much more than needed to take out Yugo and Greece so who knows the outcome)
Sometimes UK takes Greece (idk why most players dont do this but I guess they dont want to sacrifice their Egypt dudes and a transport) but it is a sting in the butt for Germany and Italy.
Hmmmm what else IDK

RE: What if the Soviet Union joined the Axis and Japan joined the Allies (well really Japan erupting into an Imperial Civil War)?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
@superbattleshipyamato should of sent more planes and used a battle calculator (unless that is prohibited in your group) because if I was US I would force Germany to sue for peace and end the game because in the end, Axis stand no chance anymore from the looks of it.

RE: [Global 1940] Funny How...posted in House Rules
@nolimit I thought of doing that but with Italy after Japan so you wouldn’t need a balance mod to make Italy playable… buttt… if you make Italy powerful they go like: destroy US fleet instantly
So just add an extra… cruiser in the Med and a few “reinforcements” in Africa… ah.
Otherhow, your China idea is promising
I wouldn’t use it though because I have that “Hump” idea :grinning: 🇹🇼✈✈✈✈✈✈ -

@tincanofthesea Exactly! It was around a year ago, I saw one of his videos about his war room and immediately I was like: “Time to do some research on this game it looks so fun!” (and later got E40, P40)
Very fun world-- :( I didnt know he deleted his youtube channel…

RE: Updated South Texas Global '40 House rulesposted in House Rules
@seancb Read all of it, very nice :) I always wanted to make “events” for A&A games but it makes the games much more complicated. I will have to reformat everything and print it neatly so everyone can understand the rules and what they roll
Very old thread but hopefully more people can read it once I comment :)

[Global 1940] Funny How...posted in House Rules
The Burma Road only carried in 5-10% of supplies into Yunnan historically. I searched this up and here is a Quora article about it:
https://www.quora.com/How-important-was-the-Burma-Road-in-World-War-2
So how would “The Hump” be applied in G40?
The road is essential for balancing out China in the game :) so that the Chinese have an excuse to be a sting in the ribs to Japan for a few turns.
So I would say  keep the road and pretend it was more important in the war than it was because in reality, it is a game and games have to be balanced…!!!But no…
It is up to you to decide how to FIX this “mistake” by LARRY HARRIS himself /hj /hj /hj

RE: Hex based A&A based maps.posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
@stevan_avalon Asking the same question. Reminds me of World Conqueror and the hundreds of games just like it. A&A rules would be very cool and yes i have seen people make hex-based maps for A&A before :flushed:  it was on Reddit one time and it was beautiful

RE: Anywhere I can download the game for free?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
@huzzah This is a very old thread but I remember seeing an old A&A game that used the same 1984 map that you can play without TripleA. Just remember it is terrible but there is a surprising amount of youtube videos of people playing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_%26_Allies_(1998_video_game)

New Neutrals Rules (G40)posted in House Rules
Re: Should we make better rules for invadable neutrals? (1940)
Found this idea while looking at posts in the forum. Posting this comment on a new thread, definitely going to use this with just infantry and artillery, tbh I am just going to add the Iberian Union with Portugal + Spain (giving Spain a minor factory and a turn order)
My plan is that at the beginning of every turn, every power in the Europe Board chips in “influence IPC’s” (besides of France) Iberia starts off as strict-neutral
At the start of the game, they begin with:
6 IPC’s and
Spain - 5 inf, 2 art
Portugal - 2 inf, 1 artIberia cannot produce any other unit besides of art and inf
Both the Allies and the Axis: if they chip in 55 IPC’s by Round 6 (can be earlier) Iberia will go on their side. If this is not met, Portugal will become allied with the Allies and Spain will become allied with the Axis.
If you can test this out that would be appreciated. I will too soon and we can cooperate about these rules ok?

RE: Global 1940 Balance Ideaposted in House Rules
@barnee I also got rid of convoy raiding as I felt making subs less powerful and making cruisers a little better to buy:sweat_smile:
definitely not because we can’t keep track of themcough
But now I am going to add the Iberian Union as a playable nation soon (yes) But ATM I can’t work on the rules for it I will need to playtest it on TripleA but I donty know how to program that so  more “fun” for me

RE: Global 1940 Balance Ideaposted in House Rules
@barnee on triplea, are you able to edit the existing map with these “balance” house rules? To make the game more random instead of penalizing, I am using the DK research chart (with my own adjustments including there is a fixed research dice income for majors and minors Majors include: Germany, Italy, Soviet, US, Europe UK, and Japan France and China do not get a research die and the rest (minors) only get 1 research die while the majors get 2 (but they can only research one per turn during the research stage)
There are also “Copy Cards” that cost 5 IPC’s each and if you want to, you can save them up and when you use them, (Research phase starts at the beginning of each round) if you roll a 6 you can copy any player’s research for a round. In the rules with the “Super Subs Technology” I felt like it was too OP so I decreased the attack to just @2 and defense @2 so it’s not crazy.
