    • RE: Favorite Attack Spots for Allies?

@mozkaynak I tried this on a Pacific-only game a few weeks ago. Basically, Japan took out most of China (Me and UK/Anzac were working together but he isnt the best of players…) Yunnan was taken round 3 and soon, South East Asia was under threat. As the US, I joined the war round 3 and immediately moved into the Caroline Islands. The Japanese already evacuated the islands in response to a possible threat of their mainland islands. Fighting continued and I island-hopped a bit, helping ANZAC along the way. I think it was around round 6 or 7 when I setup an epic trap for the Japanese player.

We are playing with DK’s research board so the US had Super Subs (lucky me!) and so I spammed transports, lots of subs, and the occasional tac and fighter (it depended.) I strategically placed my units in a way where the Japanese player did not understand where I would go. The destination: take out the Japanese home fleet and capture Korea. I used a bunch of planes scattered around and some ships, taking the home island zone fairly easily. The reason why was because he didnt think I would attack there.

There were some problems before that however. The caroline island fleet got destroyed by a Philippines build-up of the Japanese player. This limited both of our naval capabilities for another 2 -3 turns. India fell probably around 7-8 rounds in and the Japanese player looked for Sydney to collect that final VC to win the game.

The north of the Pacific looked pretty good for me. The money islands were mostly secure until the ending of the game where Japan with what navy they had left sailed towards Sydney. I had taken Korea and then I think I took Manchuria and that stuff. Japan tried building a fleet in Shanghai but I blocked all of his coast line and cut him off. In our games, we dont do convoy raiding sometimes just because it makes the games more complex (but I think after our Europe game we will do it) If you block a sea zone with a factory, if the seazone is blocked by an enemy you cannot build. Anyways, the game was a stalemate and we ended it idk I think round 11.

    • RE: What if the Soviet Union joined the Axis and Japan joined the Allies (well really Japan erupting into an Imperial Civil War)?

@superbattleshipyamato 🤤 sounded like lots of fun! We need more diplomacy/roleplay type scenarios because the peace treaties and stuff are really cool. Just a thought: I wonder if there are any R&D rules that go up to late-cold war tech. As like some sort of Axis and allies variant, there can be a “1932 Global” where the adjective is to rewrite history.

Want to make the French join the Soviets? Sure! (Have a diplomacy table like GW14 or roleplay negotiations) and have a German-UK alliance with alien soldiers from Switzerland-- and the United States being like: We are the League of Nations, I will declare war on the Soviets/French"

      Japan: Empire!!!
      China: Communist uprising ooPs

    • RE: North Quabbin Axis & Allies: Global 1940

@sweetchops27 Sorry mods for necroposting again but this is gorgeous 🤤 In my Atlantic Battlefront 1940 Map, I have very similar convoy boxes to yours (which is cool!) Your large text is neat but the font is a little too wacky. The darker sea color is a nice addition like A&A Zombies, I thought about adding it to mine but I don’t think it’s exactly practical. Anyways, I give it a 4.8/5.

My map (which I haven’t worked on in a few weeks) only takes place in the European side of the map (with no South America) for practical reasons. I hope that whenever it is printed, it isn’t too big and the nation economies are balanced and the setup is okay :>

@hengst just re-read this reply, and I should have known better.
It looks like you have a good start, and I’m sure you will get better with time. It’s a tough game to learn, but a rewarding one.
Thanks for taking it on. As a long time player, I love watching people learn the game.

    • RE: What if japan invaded the Soviet Union (alternative history scenario)?

@superbattleshipyamato Yes, the IJA would have been under-confident if they had attacked the Soviet Union. But logic isn’t a factor in war, and the Soviet Union wasn’t a perfect military force. Most of their equipment wasn’t the best, but they made it work. They were well-trained and dedicated to victory. Their infantry were great at breaking through enemy lines. Their tanks were deadly, but they were vulnerable. The Red Army was known for using its armor to spearhead attacks, but it had a major weak point: it wasn’t trained to be a tank army. The Soviets didn’t use tanks as a dedicated force, but as a supporting one. They mainly used infantry to take over territory. The tanks would support the infantry to break through the enemy line and to neutralize the enemy’s tanks and artillery. But this wasn’t a hard and fast rule. The Red Army was capable of doing both. If the IJA had invaded the Soviets, the Soviets could have taken advantage of their massive tank armies and used tanks as a spearhead regardless. The tanks could have been used as a decoy to lure the Japanese tanks away from the infantry, and the infantry would have used the tanks as cover. The IJA’s tanks would have been decimated. The Soviets would have then used their other advantages: their planes and their tank troops. The Japanese tanks and troops would have been left defenseless and the Japanese troops would have been crushed. The Japanese troops would have been doomed regardless.

    • RE: Could Japan have blockaded Australia?

@abworsham4 the UK would be able to focus on the Pacific, the UK already had a presence in India, Australia, Burma, Singapore, Malaya, the UK would also be able to maintain a presence in the Pacific.

The UK would also be able to maintain a presence in the Pacific, while Germany is fighting the Soviet Union, the UK could attack Japan from India, while the UK assisted the US in the Pacific, while Japan is fighting China, while Japan is fighting China, the UK can hold back Japan in Southeast Asia, then when the Soviet Union is done with the Germans, the British can then focus on Japan, if the UK can hold back Japan for longer than 6 months, then Japan would lose the war.

Goose’s Axis and Allies Global 41 Variant House Rules

Info: Everything italicized is input from a human to help the ai generate. This is using GPT-3.

This document is for the game Axis and Allies: Global 1940. There are many house rules and a unique 1941 setup that has been playtested 14 times in the span of October and November. Here is the complete house rules and 1941 setup for every country in WW2

      House Rules:

1.) No air units may travel to a territory that has a ground unit defending it

2.) Fleets can attack land units as if they were ground units (one hit, one die roll). (but they cannot occupy)

3.) All combat is now 3 dice rolls (1 for attacker, 2 for defender), where 3’s and 5’s are hits, and the defender only gets a hit on a 6

4.) Fighters must attack a number of targets equal to their number (ex. 5 fighter = 5 ground/air/naval units, 8 fighter= 8 targets) (This is to discourage players from hoarding fighters)

5.) The USSR starts with 6 armies (3 infantry, 2 armor, 1 mechanized)

6.) If there is a tie, the attacker loses. (this is to discourage players from taking over an opponent’s territory with 1 tank and committing suicide to win)

7.) The US player gets 1 battalion for every 2 units destroyed, 1 airbase for every 5 units destroyed, and 1 fleet for every 2 units destroyed

8.) The UK gets 1 fleet for every 2 units destroyed

9.) The Germany player gets 1 battalion for every 2 units destroyed, 1 airbase for every 5 units destroyed, and 1 fleet for every 2 units destroyed

10.) The Japan player gets 1 battalion for every 2 units destroyed, 1 airbase for every 5 units destroyed, and 1 fleet for every 2 units destroyed

11.) Every phase (except for phase 1) lasts for 7 days

12.) The US player can give up his defense to regain 1 defense regiment

13.) The UK player can give up his defense to regain 1 defense battalion

14.) The Germany player can give up his defense to regain 1 defense regiment

15.) The Japan player can give up his defense to regain 1 defense battalion

    • RE: Biggest gun battle ever

@superbattleshipyamato In a war situation, the Ratte’s long-barreled weapons would have an advantage over the monster tank. The monster, on the other hand, is not so good at straight firing, but if it can find its target, it will be able to kill it. The Ratte’s biggest advantage is its low profile. Because of that, it can get close to the monster tank without being noticed. However, the monster has a very short barrel on its main weapon.

The Ratte, on the other hand, is not too good in long-range fights because of its slow speed and lack of a rotating turret. In a real battle in a more complicated environment, the two tanks would be much closer together than in a mock battle. In an equal situation (flat land with no buildings nearby), the monster tank would likely win because of its superior power and speed. If both tanks needed to make movements on their own (in an environment with buildings), the monster tank would win.

@superbattleshipyamato They had to invade the Philippines, they striked at Pearl Harbor in the belief the US would be limited in their response to invading French Indochina, Parts of Siam, Some of Burma, all of Malaysia, Most of the Dutch East Indies, and a bunch of other strategically important islands.

Japan would loose either way even if the US BatTleShIp fleet wasn’t bombed to death at Pearl Harbor. They would have more capital ships and still their aircraft carrier fleet. Watch some videos on it is very interesting

    • Japan + UK vs the World?!!(G40)

Japan and UK gets all their bonuses immediately. United States does not join the war until round 3 and the Soviet Union cannot until round 4 (unless it is declared by the Japanese or UK player)

      Canada rules:

Canada is automatically annexed into US, the USA collects all of Canada’s income and territories HOWEVER the minor IC in Quebec + Port in Nova Scotia is deleted from the board.

The UK gains immediate control over France including all of their income and territories. This is a lost-cause for the UK in France but, the French Navy can still play a role (converted to the UK player)

The Soviet Union and Germany can still be at a state of war. The maximum limit is 4 rounds. It depends on if the Germans are greedy enough to go for the USSR and let the US do most of the armwrestling or team up with the Soviets. If Japan invades any Soviet territory in under 4 turns, Germany and the USSR become allies. If the 4 turn threshold is there, Germany and the USSR will be allies.

That gives Japan and the UK some time. Remember, the USSR cannot join the war against the 2 allies unless Japan (or UK) attacks first.

Germany can still do a G1, G2 against Russia BUT unites Russia with the UK-Japanese Alliance. This is a risky move unless Germany knows that they can win Moscow before Japan can send sufficient forces + the additional Moscow Infantry.

Quickly the Pacific Board will be locked down and possibly the Mediterranean so think decisively as the US when you join.

Pacific UK can still invade the money islands in addition to invading ANZAC (if they hold any) That makes Persia and ANZAC a big target for UK Pacific at the start of the game.

    • Using the Global War 1914 Diplomacy Model In G40?

Each major power has their own quadrant in the “Diplomacy Pie”

In the middle being strict neutrals

and you have every country’s markers (using other house rules) that were neutral in the war in there.

And you can influence them by spending influence points or whatever (also think there are event cards that can do that) The more closer you go to a major power’s quadrant, the more influenced that country is to that power. So, in GW14, you can influence Italy into joining the war for the Central Powers! You can challenge countries, rebellions in provinces, etc.

I watched a video by Panzer King and thought the diplomacy model with the extreme amount of event cards looked so cool.

There are many interesting variants for G40 on the forum and online (like the wiki) I want to develop a diplomacy model just like in GW14’ but in G40 because it sounds like fun!
