zim zax- I like jannis - but to me her voice sounds a bit like lorrette lynn.
and the jimmy hendrix experience cd is cool. some of his drug induced rifts are pretty wild, but even his music can get a bit too aggressive for me. I also like some lead zepplin and frank zappa, and jethro tull. deep purple I know I’m forgetting someone.
no, no one that I admire lived into the 80’s except david gilmore. (pink floydd). although there was a time in my unfortunate youth that I listened to van halen, def leopard, twisted sister, Quiet riot, black sabbath (with ozzy and rodney james dio), ozzy, dio, motley crue, poison, white snake, guns n roses, slayer, megadeath, white zombie, bio hazard, alice in chains, faith no more, canibal corpse, metallica and others- but then I stopped being a communist , cut my hair and got a job. unfortunately the tattoos are not so easy to take off.

What WW2 commander do you most admire, and why?posted in General Discussion
I wanted to do this as a poll and place several choices, but I knew yanni, f_alk, and cystic (at least) would find some other obscure commander and throw off my whole study. besides I don’t know of any famous canadian commanders to be fair to our northern neighbors. these are my tops
- manstien, 2) guderian, 3) zhukov, 4) rommel, 5) kesselring 6) patton 7) bradley 8) monty 9) mac arthur 10) clarke (he did eventually break the ghustav line) 11)chuikov and auchenlick deserves noteable mention. he could have won africa before the germans arrived, but was robbed of troops for greece.
I’d like to know who your favorite is, and who do you play the game most like ( if that’s possible).
I like manstein the most. he was an expert tactician, he was also commander of the post war german army. he designed the ardennes offensive. he took sevastapol ( at too great a cost), he nearly cut off the oil fields in the caucases, nearly relieved stalingrad (but paulus wouldn’t break out), saved the eastern front by retaking kharkov, and had the deepest penetration during kursk.
unfortunately there’s no real way to simulate his style of offense. but he’s definately my numero uno.
I’d like to think I manage my resources more like guderian though. attacking enemies at weak points to facilitate major offensives. but in game terms what does that really mean???-

RE: Most interesting country?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
I just want everyone to know that the psychopath WAS NOT ME! lord knows I would never accuse anyone of being a poor speller. I like playing russia but- because I think most people don’t. most people assume that russia can’t beat up germany and japan- when in reality they can (with only limited help).
that being said, I have always had a foundness for germany. mostly because I thought they had the coolest army. the waffen ss was cool, the pzk III,IV, and the panther, tiger and the stug’s were some of the coolest looking and most effective tanks.
their only drawback is that they have to stike a critical blow in t1, which can be difficult. especially if your opponents aren’t 10, or smoking crack. -

hey kid, check your A&A mailbox. I left you a message. but the short of it is I’m still trying to get a working copy. you mentioned other ways to play- I’ll be back around 11:00 am to see what they are. I’m not sure how to play a forum game- but if involves you being honest with my dice rolls I’m skeptical.

oh and F_alk- how could you use gen paulus as an example. he was a trophy. for him to live like he did 90,000 of his troops were murdered by russians. they said it was the cold and typhus but - only 5000 ever made it back to germany- and then only long after the war was over.

RE: Iraq, againposted in General Discussion
F_alk- what kind of taxes do you pay there now? I pay somewhere between 36-45% of my income in taxes. it’s hard to say because it is hidden taxes here. no one want’s to raise taxes, but no one seems to want to fend for themselves here either. so to pay for our social programs our government raises taxes in obscure ways on selected groups- small groups so that the majority of people are never affected at any one time- they want to be re elected. I always seem to be in this group. I wouldn’t mind helping others if it was MY choice. but it’s quite another matter when someone takes your money to help some cause they believe in.
when I was about 17 me and my dad were talking about welfare- and I brought up the liberal argument that “if even one person is helped from this program- doesn’t that make it all (the fraud) worth it”? my dad looked at me and said " wait until you start paying taxes- I G** ****** gaurantee that attitude will change" … my daddy was right. when I personally had to pay for all the fraud- I didn’t care anymore about that one struggling family- let them starve- the 1000 other shmoes ruined it for them.
that’s why I believe that if you can’t work- you shouldn’t be allowed to survive. you couldn’t in the jungle, why should you here?? and like I said, I don’t feel this way about children. it’s not there fault their parents are dreggs. I just wish we could take them out of poverty, or abuse and let them enjoy life. and be loved. lord knows it’s not long before the weight of the world takes that away from them.Oh if that "can’t work Shouldn’t survive thing made you mad - try this:
-If you Don’t Pay Taxes - you shouldn’t have a right to vote - especially on tax increases.
-if you don’t work, you should loose your right to breed.
-if you have children, you should be subject to public beatings for cases of abuse - neglect or stupidity towards your child.- people don’t take anything, much less parenting, seriously.
and before you hit me with the killing handicapped people thing again - that’s not what I mean. look at stephen hawking. most handicapped people want to work. now mental retardation is different- they cannot easily work, but it’s not thier fault. many mildly retarded people do hold mineal jobs. I have no problem helping those who cannot help themselves. I too have compassiosn for the unfortunate, but the many years of toilling for those who would abuse my good will has hardened my heart, so I turn my face from the whole system.
I wasn’t born a right wing devil- the world and all it’s scum made me this way. -

I don’t think the Emu God will like this- But I agree totally with him- and I’m not jewish. I think the palestinian question would have been answered long ago if the us would not have set up arafat as a legitamate spokesman for the palestinians. being a terrorist does not make you a statesman. and with better leadership I think the palestinians would have there own state- and a fair chance.
F_ALK- I’m starting to like arguing with you. not even yanni disagrees with me as much as you do. Buddy I’m not a racist. that card gets thrown around whenever someone says anything remotly conservative around here. there is a lot of racial tension going around, which I personally find facinating. but to be racist I’d have to have it out for another group of people based on an attribute that I can easily Identify (race color whatever) and I don’t. however I do hate lazy people. partly because I hate them and partially because I’m jelious. also I do tend to hate people in general- but not for any one attribute.
F_alk- I guess I held the soviets to a different light because that terrorism difectly effected me. notice I could recall it fairly easily. while providing arms to a group that was fighting against a regime we didn’t like seemed more fair. but after discussing it I guess there’s really not much difference.
and back to Iraq-
Yanni - you nearly have my arguments for invasion of Iraq down. but as I am learning - once your mind is made up on a subject- you cannot easily be swayed.
notice you say the “never proven Iraq Al Quaeda” collaberation theory-
the president has said he has info linking saddam to al quaeda, and he plans to release more intell. on this through powell on feb 5th. does he have to compromise his sources and get people killed to show you personally proof? I personally feel that once we go in, we’ll find the weapons we want and the proof you need.I think the whole debate that the country’s going thru over Iraq is a result of how stupid we really are. for example- had bush not procrastinated and just started bombing Iraq- or even invaded, people may have grumbled but accepted it. but now that it’s been on the tele and the radio for months, people are just tired of seeing it. I personally don’t feel the anti war people are really anti war, they just want it off the tv. they are not used to waiting- they want things right now- and since it’s not a “right now” kind of thing they become opinionated and complain.
I think that if taxes went up to 90% tomarrow- the people here would grumble but get over it. as long as they don’t have time to consider the info they are processing you could do whatever you want to most of these people.
I agree that there are many other targets for human rights violations. but we are not fighting a war for human rights, we are fighting a war against people with the means and motive to do us harm. it doesn’t mean they HAVE, just that they have the means and motive. and if all goes well in Iraq- which it hasn’t so far- I think you will see other targets. no-one said Iraq would be the last. -
RE: Iraq, againposted in General Discussion
F_alk I’ll grant you the meddling with the contra’s. I was focusing on europe. And not to be pro american- or pro capitalist, but I think we have a right to directly invovle ourselves in the affairs of other countries. most countries recieve aid from either the USA or Russia in some way, be it money or food or natural resources, why not demand that they at least be agreeable. to me it’s like asking someone to take off their shoes at the door to your house. now I don’t consider russia an enemy, and they have simulair polocies. we are the most needed nations- especially the usa. if our economy was to cataclysmically explode we would have complete anarchy in the word. -I’ll respond for you - unimaginably inflated sense of self importance- yep that’s me. :D
this kind of leads me to an interseting thing I heard on the radio today. mandella said that we were basically terrorists and that we don’t care about humanity- and what was that crack about that if koffie anon was white we’d listen to the un? PLEASE-
the tactics we tried against Iraq (the economic embargo) was the same tactics that helped free mandella’s people. but the white south africans yielded to the economic pressure to change (even though it meant a power shift) while I still argue that sadam used osomma to give us a black eye for trying to force him out of power.
and it doesn’t matter what color the un is, if they were all britts we still wouldn’t listen until they started making sense. which in my terms means agreeing with me.F_ALK - I agree that capitalism does have some drawbacks if left unchecked. obviously monoplies can be bad- and a workplace without labor laws is bad. but I want the bare minimum (in regulation).
social programs in general are bad. and not only are the unnecessary they are inefficient. Both my sets of grandparents are poor (less than $10,000/yr) - one side works for money (part time) the other side is fed by the gov. my fathers family are all working poor- who probably could not survive without government handouts, while my mother’s side are all on welfare (of one form or another). my dad didn’t want to live like that- so he joined the army and took us away to germany. my own family was poor until I was in high school. but the poor performance of the german currency helped to get us by (not a shot at you F_alk),
my dad had no education past high school- but he now makes a hundred grand a year. I myself had only one year of college- I own my own home and do quite well enough for myself- although not nearly like my dad- both of my younger brothers are college boys- although one wasted his degree.
and we rose from poverty without one drop of government assistance. Yeah I’m white- but that’s not the reason. I excell - despite the ODDS being stacked against me because of two things- first- because I will not accept failure, and secondly because here I was given an opportunity and I seized it.
I feel very badly for poor children- children are the only true good in this world- however I have total and utter contempt for poor starving adults. EXCEPTION- poor nations where poverty is the norm. -

actually I kind of like the forums myself. I don’t remember them last year, so when I ran out of people to play A&A with I went away. I happened back the other day and YANNY- (the KOMMUNIST ANTAGONIST) :D got me hooked on the forums. it’s cool to be able to dicuss your opinions and observe others. now the whole site hates me , before it was just ohio…cool.

RE: Different Perspective…posted in General Discussion
Tg actually I did site that at least two of these ss divisions were exclusively latvian- but to answer your question - I did not specify the waffen ss - which is what they were.
Tinker - well I did get a lot of what I wanted. I was slightly dissapointed by some of the responses. and yes it did wander a bit. the reason I originally started it was to see if we could set aside the outcome- place ourselves in the seriousness of the moment- and still formulate the same opinions we currently have over IraQ.
Not to trap anybody- but just to see how deep of a resentment we each carry towards current affiars.
what I mean is -many of us think this war is being carried out poorly. some still side with the president and feel national security is at stake, while others counter various ways, and accuse others of reciting propaganda.
However I think that most of us, with one noteable exception regarded ww2 as a good war. for whatever reason we went to war - the end result was good for everyone- except F_alk who hates me. tyranny was ended and ultimately freedom and liberty have been restored to europe.
so I expected to hear people flip flop on some issues- especially the propaganda- but they didn’t. they stuck with their biased views and condemned or applauded the war, or fronted conspiracy theories- just as they have been doing on Iraq.
conclusion- ??? either it was not a good enough test, or like I have been saying- your reality (truth vs lies) is what you perceive it to be- and cannot be affected easily by facts. Ie unless saddam delivers a nuke to NY, yanni probably won’t budge an inch. :) -
RE: New Strategiesposted in Website/Forum Discussion
I’m a bit cofused because it says “post yours here” and yet there are none posted (although there are many replies)- can I start some new topics concerning each countries stragedy vs. typically anticipated moves, and have everyone who is proficient at running that country shoot back some answers - then you can take your pick?
for instance:Topic One : what does russia do in T1 and T2?
then I’ll write a small paragraph about if russia is restricted, if they aren’t. how you anticipate and defend this attack? or what happens if you suspect J1 is likely to leave an IC inmanchuria- or not?
that way we’ll only get strategy from people who prefer these countries, and we could perhaps get several responses for each.
Topic Two: what does G1 and G2 do if russia does x or Y and Uk does A or B??? -

A technical gaming questionposted in Other Games
I thought about posting this as a guest, because i’m sure everyone pretty much thinks I’m an A-hole- which is true… but you’re all commies so we’re even.
anyways my question is in regards to a game I downloaded from the underdogs website. great sight. well strong bad and I had agreed to play Iron blitz against each other saturday on something called the “zone.com”
so I signed up. but when I went for a test run it said that the “zone” could not find Axis_Allies Iron Blittz on my hard drive. is this a problem with the downloaded sofware? or when the patch makers modified the software did they change it in such a way that it would now be unrecognizeable to a searching computer (IE… the executable program is now called A&A Iron.exe- will changing the name of the exe program make it run).
in school we learned dos on atari 520 st’s. I know about as much about computers as …well I can’t think of anything to compare. obvious wise cracks- communism, environment, foriegn policy hardy har har. -

TINKER/ F_alk-
ok technically I guess you could say hitler didn’t invade he liberated- I’ll grant that.
to the EMU GOd- ok let’s not trap me into another technicallity- many of the inhabbitants of the baltic states did embrace the german’s as liberators and like the nazis were quick to blame their problems on the jews. they not only turned them over to the nazis- they out rightly murdered them. and one of the more dedicated ss units was the ss frei willengen, which I can’t remember but may have even held out til near the end of the war and had to be totally annihalated. also I know at least two of these divisions were exclusively latvian. - I have some ss books I can look up specifics if you want, also see war of the century- they actually had several estonian volunteers on it who bragged about killing jews and children. one of them said he was always trying to be merciful by aiming right for the childrens heart so they wouldn’t suffer-
YEAH I’m barbaric. -
RE: Iraq, againposted in General Discussion
YANNY! you’re back! boy did I miss you- no really!
anyways -YES - I listened to EVERYTHING you guys say- and I value your input- although I don’t agree with much of it. russia was not stalanist, the revolution was under lenin- BUt I think I made my point.
Because you origanally said that these were not true communist countries- now you are saying only their rhetoric was communist (in a nut shell) and all I was saying was exactly that. the core of their politic was communist. I to do not believe communism can work either. nor do I believe that pure capitalism is good (SUPRISE)- case in point - labor laws- without them workers were abused. unfortunately the same dirty dogs who you’d alllow to enter your communes have degenerated a good thing into a serious problem for american industry.
I’ll respond to TG now- when I got confused about you and tm I was responding to you and then your brother started responding to me, very confusing.
also would I not work in a communist society? what motivation would I have? to avoid the roundy round about who is or who isn’t communist. lets just say that in countries where “quasi communism” has been tried the results left much for a man to desire. ask f_alk about the name of the cars they drove- trebbies or troglodytes something like that- they had the same make model and style for 20 years. and then there’s housing- you go on a list to wait for a government apartment. you go to your work like an automoton. it sounds pretty miserable to me. that’s all. I want goals, I want adventure, excitement… you know, all the things boys and girls grow up dreaming about. a chance for an even better life for my kid, where he has every oportunity to be anything from a rock star to a rocket scientist. no limits… that’s all.and YANNY I don’t believe all the propaganda of the government- I just use that to get you stirred up. cause I can tell you are one of those conspiracy theory guys. you know… was it the mob, cuba, the russians, the fbi, cia or lbj???
I just used the roswell thing to show that no matter what “facts” are given to you, you have already determined that GW is lying and the whole thing is just about fattening his wallet. NOT that I’m open minded…and I also wanted one more responce to F_ALK:
the thing about the worker bees was just a frustrated attempt to show that I don’t hold rich people in contempt just because they are rich. judging by most of the grammar and fancy words many of you use, I’d guess that most of you come from at least upper middle class families. don’t resent your parent’s struggles or hold them in contempt because there are impoverished people in the word. communism isn’t the answer- social programs that take away my money aren’t the answer either. if you feel something must be done for the good of all, use your resources to make it happen. this is america- you can be as rich or poor as you want. and F_alk the queen bee is the most important bee, she organizes the hive, grows the hive, delegates roles for the various bee jobs (GUARDS< DRONES< ECT) she works- cleetus however was just a ficticious bee representation of my neighbor who soaks up disability for a supposed back injury. DOES ANYONE ELSE understand what I mean? the bee thing has now officially lost any hope of striking a cord.
