    • RE: Attacking Ukraine

      The reason I don’t like attacking Belo is because you have to empty Karelia which allows Germany to blitz into Archangel so if I am feeling lucky I go West Russia and Ukraine because you can also do some damage when Germany counterattacks. And it’s worth more.

      So you think that if Japan only gets 2 hits on the first round you would submerge the sub instead of leaving the FIG alive?

    • RE: Russia to Norway R1 ?

      @ncscswitch:

      No, SUBs can NEVER attack aircraft

      (OK, one exception… an attacking aircraft carrier has an allied FIG on it… the defending SUB score a hit on the AC, the Allied FIG dies with it since it is cargo).

      Can’t the Allied Fig hit back? and why would it die because it is cargo

      @ncscswitch:

      A sneak shot and fodder for one hell of a US counter in the Pacific… 2 FIGs, 1 BOM, 1 BB, 1 TRN, 1 SUB, 1 DST.

      I’m pretty sure the DST can’t reach Pearl on a US1 Counterattack which would probably be your only chance.

    • RE: The Fleet Chewer

      If you don’t attack Pearl on J1 America can build up a fleet pretty fast that can kill your fleet and most often the most I lose at Pearl is the Sub and Dst so it’s not such a big deal but I generally consolidate my fleet in 1-2 turns after that in SZ 60

    • RE: Algeria USA1 / UK1

      @Novosibirsk:

      What are the alternatives if say Algeria is too well fortified for the allies to land in it on turn 1. If protected to the fullest extent, germany could have 6 land units, and 4-6 planes and a bomber there, if they stack it up.

      But where do the allies go. Do they just hang out in UK?

      I am not familiar with Allies because I rarely play them. But I am sick of getting backdoored by an allied stack in Algeria. If you try to clear the stack out, it undermines your African campaign. Plus I am sick of the same ol’ same ol’ moves by the allies. It typically evolves into a cookie-cutter game.

      If Germany has 6 Fighters in Algeria then they are not doing everything right … and if they are stacked in Algeria then that means that Egypt is intact which is great for Allies in which case I would bring the UK Indian Fleet into the Med. Sea and just wait til US2 to attack Algeria with a large force that I built on US1. You are simply putting WAY too much into Africa and you are gonna get hurt somewhere in Europe because of it.

    • RE: Germany First turn buys

      1 AC and 8 Inf as well and I don’t realy research much either … as Germany I think you need to get a strong advantage in the beginning and if you waste 15 IPCs trying to get rockets and fail then thats 5 Inf you don’t have on the front.

    • RE: UK Double IC

      @ncscswitch:

      It should ne noted that Nix has had great success with his non-traditional UK open, despite all of the arguments about African income if India forces are not used to counter a G1 Egypt attack.

      I think that retaking Egypt on UK1 seems kinda stupid because Germany still probably has an inf, art and a fig in Libya and can just retake it back and then India is weak as well and everything falls faster … why not just wait for USA to retake it?

      Hey just a question but if you lose Egypt which does happen occasionally do you as Germany abandon Africa? and what do you do with your Med fleet assuming UK pulled its Indian Fleet into Med?

    • RE: UK Double IC

      @Jennifer:

      Actually, with a focused attack on Japan, it’s nigh impossible for Japan to capture it.

      On Round 1:

      Russia masses 6 Infantry in Bury, 4 Infantry in Yak, 2 Infantry in Sink; Build and Attack as Normal
      Japan looses, Borneo and New Guinea to England
      England Builds IC in India
      America builds 2 Carriers, 1 Fighter to add to existing fleet - maybe counter attacks Pearl if it’s winable.
      Russia moves into Manchuria if weakly defended and backs up with 4 inf from Yak

      You might not be able to take the Jap islands, but you can do enough damage to them for long enough time to seriously cripple any ability of them to make a serious threat to Russia for the first 6 rounds of the game, thus leaving Germany exposed to the full authority of the Russian armies.

      Well the post was only about another UK IC not a focused attack and India by itself is not a good investment

    • RE: UK Double IC

      Yes I’m sure everyone has tried an India IC at one point or another but in revised it is basically just a drain from the German front and is too easy for Japan to capture

      I agree with newpaintbrush that Japan needs tanks they are very powerful and the allies can’t get enough to the Japanese front that can beat the Japanese tanks without sacrificing the German/Russian Front
