    • RE: Back to Basics

      I’m definitely doing that the next time I play - maybe set up a crude barrier between the setup areas, and remove it when deployment is final.  Good call!

      @Vinius:

      Any time after the army is built but before deployment is fine, I think.  I usually play that we reveal as soon as we’re both done building our armies.

      Same here.  As long as neither side has the option to change their build after analyzing their enemy’s army, then it should be OK.

    • RE: Samurai Swords AKA Shogun

      Yet another catch 22… If the ninja’s attempt fails, doesn’t the target player get some kind of counter-attack for it?  Or am I just hallucinating?

    • RE: 10 video games to avoid

      @Jermofoot:

      Anyone down for 10 video games you should play?  We could do recent and all-time…

      OK, here goes, in no particular order:

      Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
      Starcraft (and Broodwar)
      Goldeneye (N64)
      Gears of War
      Super Metroid
      FF6 (3 for SNES)
      Chrono Trigger (Still haven’t beaten this one!)
      Dune (Genesis)
      Halo (1 and 2)
      Toejam n’ Earl

      That is true; people don’t easily forgive an assassination attempt on their daimyo’s life.  However, I’ve seen that people will bid on the ninja, succeed, and just hold on to it “until the moment is right”.  Is that correct?  Can someone really keep the ninja for the whole game if they want?

    • RE: Does Risk suck?

      Well, I just want to say that Risk sucks when compared to A&A games and the like.  It’s like comparing Wolfenstein 3D to more modern games like Halo.  Same genre, but just not the same.  Now, I would have no problem getting down with the old school and playing Wolfenstein, so on the same note, maybe one of these days I’ll have to play Risk again…  :-)

    • RE: Joke

      Q: What do you call a fly with no wings?
      A: A walk

      Q: Why does a chicken coop have only two doors?
      A: Because if it had four doors it would be a chicken sedan.

      I know, I know…  :roll:

      I was born in 1983 - and so was Crack cocaine!  Yesss!

      It explains so much. :P (ducks the book thrown at her head.)

      No, that’s actually pretty close…  :-P

      So… whaddya say?  You can mention more than one, but I for one am going to keep mine categorized, for instance:

      Intellectual Role Model: Stephen Hawking
      Most Influential Leader: Erwin Rommel
      Favorite Looney Toon: Marvin the Martian
      Favorite Other Cartoon Character: Dr. Zoidberg
      Favorite Movie Character: Kaiser Soze (spelling?)

      Can’t think of any more right now, but hopefully the rest of you guys can help me out with that…  :wink:

    • RE: Axis & Allies Guadalcanal September 2007

      @Imperious:

      a real American fighter plane rather than a UFO

      :lol: :lol: LMFAO  :lol: :lol:

      …but seriously, it did kinda bother me that the US fighter model was the P-38.  I guess that the folks at WotC were kinda lazy about it, in that they didn’t want to worry about having multiple types of fighters, when the rules are not specific enough to warrant it.

      Same thing goes for the German “fighter” being a Stuka.  Yeah right.  :roll:

      This game is great.  I believe I saw it at my local geek shop, so I might have to ask the owner if it is actually for sale.

    • RE: Does Risk suck?

      Oh, and sorry to ignore the original question (I may have posted in this regard already - not sure) I think Risk does suck.  To use Jermo’s metaphor that Risk is like a gateway drug, I guess smoking pot just doesn’t do it for me anymore…  :lol:

      @Gen:

      The only time I use my copy of Monopoly is when I need fortification pieces for A&A (I use the house and hotel pieces) :-)

      That’s actually a great forgin’ idea!  Do you have any house rules pertaining to these “fortifications”?

    • RE: War at Sea finally here!

      I just hope that the Germans get some carriers (and carrier-based planes) at some point.  It seems that the lack of any CAP ability can be a bit detrimental to their cause.

    • RE: Fav. A&A game

      I might say Revised, just because it spans the whole globe, and my friends and I play pretty differently. (i.e. switching up the teams, and changing them again when one capital falls for good)

      However, I think Miniatures may be gaining on Revised with a quickness.  The close-in tactics are very cool, if you ask me.  I also like the fact that each unit represents a much smaller force, and thus you’re “closer to the action” so to speak.  :wink:

    • RE: Education Reform

      Why would an online debate EVER revert into a mudslinging match?  My roommate, friends, girlfriend, etc., and I do not always agree.  But when we DISagree, we don’t resort to insulting the other party.  We manage to talk through the problem, but IF one does insult the other with some kind of personal attack, then the insult is made known, and the discussion proceeds in a more diplomatic fashion…

      Not quite what I’m seeing here.  Both of you have moved completely away from the topic because you’re obviously getting pissed off at each other.  And I don’t care to hear any bullsht about “he/she started it first” because that doesn’t help any - in fact, it fckin makes me sick.  SO I ask:  What the Hell is wrong here?
