RE: Best tank for Set Iposted in Miniatures (Original)
I got the new set yesterday, and if it’s possible, I’d like to change my vote to the King Tiger; this thing is bad-a$$! For the Allies, my favorite would probably have to be the Russian IS-2.

RE: Different Set-upposted in Miniatures (Original)
Two things, Celery. One: How did you settle the new rules for three players? Especially with regards to initiative rolls? And Two: I’ve decided that the Jagermeister – I mean JagdPanther  – should be able to fire anywhere within the sixty degree angle that its gun covers. I’m not sure if that’s what you meant, but it’s an issue that I’ve come across…

RE: D-Day Scenario Issueposted in Miniatures (Original)
All good input! With regards to the Major’s post about making campaigns in Italy and Africa, I was thinking of including some new terrains (like tundras and deserts) How do you think these could affect troop movement/cover, etc.? DJenson mentioned some points about a beachhead type of terrain - good stuff!

I went for the Tiger. It’s just that in my experience (however limited) it’s pretty durn hard to roll enough successes to damage this thing. (especially with the Superior Armor 2 ability)

Yeah I came across that “loophole” once, but it didn’t seem to make sense to me, so I didn’t do it.

I appreciate that DJ, but even so; I don’t think it would be complete until there are some paratroopers getting involved. But that sounds like a very good idea!

D-Day Scenario Issueposted in Miniatures (Original)
I’m thinking of setting up a D-day scenario. However, I’m not gonna make it official until the new set comes out. (mostly for the new snipers and paratroopers) The only parameter I really have so far on the map set-up is putting two of the map tiles with big cities next to each other. Germany would start on this town. In one of the opposite corners would be an entirely US force, and in the other corner an entirely UK force. The questions I have are:
Should the units be hand-picked by the players or pre-set by the scenario?
What should the team build values be?
Do you think it would be possible to make it a three player game?Any input would be welcome…

RE: Map Questionposted in Miniatures (Original)
I have a total of sixteen map tiles, so today I bought photo mounting glue (spray form) and eight pieces of poster board.
(This was sorta messy by the way)I sprayed one side of the Able tile.
I stuck it to the poster board and flattened it out.
After waiting a minute for it to dry, I cut it out along the lines.
I turned it over and sprayed the empty side of poster board.
I then placed the other side of the Able tile on it and smoothed it out.The only warning I have is - Make sure you have both sides of a tile showing!

My friend introduced me to the game when I was a freshman in high school. Now I’m 22. I don’t play as often as I’d like, but love the game nonetheless.

RE: New unitsposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
The only way I can think of making cavalry, while NOT making them useless, would be so that they are essentially just infantry, but with 2 movement points. Maybe cost 6 or 7 IPCs? I dunno…

RE: Help me pleaseposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Yeah, right on! I formerly didn’t think that A&A had many female fans! (if any at all!) But yes, keep it up, and I think you’ll find this an improvement over the original version.

BUT, if you had to pick another naval unit (a combat naval unit) which one would you go for?

My storage is along the same lines as Linkon. I bought mine at Wal-mart…

RE: Distance on the board.posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
I agree with GG about the out-of-box inconsistencies. One example would be that on Japan’s first turn, they can send everything within range to attack the US fleet moored outside of Hawaii, and the fighter that actually sits on the island can’t help with the defense. (How realistic is that?) :x

RE: How much do you play and think about A&ARposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
My old A&A crew, from when I lived in Albuquerque, (of which justus and DonkeyPunchNightmare are members) would be glad to play all the time. Sometimes I feel as if I’m getting rusty, because they play fairly often, while I play once ina blue moon, at best. For this reason, much of mine and justus’ phone conversations are about - you guessed it - A&A!

RE: Favorite Unit?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
You make good points td, but I can’t imagine why your players don’t care for arties. Not to sound like a hypocrite, because I voted for fighters, but artillery are a very good piece. You’re right; Germany could use more of them, especially if they have the Fortress Europe NA  but as an average, I think it prudent to buy artillery and infantry on a one-to-one basis. (at least when building an attack force)

RE: How much do you play and think about A&ARposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
…and anyway, the games I have played, we played very long. First off, we usually (95% of the time) play with different team set-up. And secondly, we play until there is an ultimate victor (or until a game goes for like, two months or so) If you haven’t already, try these:
Ger+Rus vs. Everyone else
Ger+US vs. Everyone else
Jap+US vs. Everyone elseAlso, in our games, when one power falls for good, we rearrange the teams, in order to keep things fair. (And to contribute to the ultimate victory factor, mentioned above.)
