    • RE: Hit working

Yes.  The rules state that “if a unit receives two disrupted counters in one turn, then it is now damaged.  Three or more, and it is destroyed.”

    • New Variation of Heavy Bombers…

      I was just thinking today…

Should the heavy Bombers tech make bombers roll two attack dice at three or less, or do you think they are just fine as they are?

My rationale is that with the tech as is, Heavy Bombers roll with power equal to that of two regular bombers, ($30) but if they roll two dice at three, then they are about equal in power to two tanks. ($10)  This is not, in my opinion, a terrible sacrifice, as tanks already have a decent combat value.

      Any input?

    • RE: French Army (formerly: Hi everyone)

I think you’re gonna have some trouble going 100% French. (no prejudice in that by the way)  Just collect everything.  I know I have about five Tiger I’s, about as many Guards T-34/85’s, so, if you want to go both ways (in the game that is) then I could arrange somethin’…

    • RE: What do your names mean?

Agent Orange was a defoliating agent used in Vietnam to clear out jungles.  It was also the last of a series of monikers that I used in Halo; the only name that really stuck.  Other unsuccessful names were Whargoul, Dr. Octagon, and Mr. Pink (bonus points to anyone who knows what those are references to.)

Anyway, AgentOrange has since become my tag of choice for just about everything.

    • RE: Japan's Inf.

You may forget about them at first, especially if you’re employing a trannie strat instead of building an IC on the mainland, but eventually, I’d make it a point to sweep 'em all up and at least take them to your economically/strategically valuable spots (i.e.  Japan, East Indies, Phillipines, and the mainland definitely)  I don’t have the game right in front of me, but I’m guessing that’s about 6-8 infantry that would otherwise be sitting there to rot.  I think the islanders should be moving toward the mainland by J3 at the latest.

If Japan has the Tokyo Express NA, then there should be no question - start loading up the trannies on J1!

    • RE: June 2006 D-Day Booster Pack

I think what I should do is sell some of my existing units to stores in my area.  I have like 5 Tiger I’s, 4 IS-2’s, and those are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head, not to mention other uncommons.  I’m pretty sure I’ve got like 20-ish Panzer IV’s, same with the Shermans.  Since Set 3 came out, I’ve accumulated 3 Stukas, 3 Me-109’s, 3 Mustangs, 2 IL-10’s, and only 1 Zero.

    • RE: No variety in A&A

I’ve said my piece; just know that in my opinion, it was one of the most interesting games I ever played.

But know also that we switched sides again when someone got knocked out, so as to keep the game more even.  We played that way until UK took Berlin.  Russia and UK then allied against US and Japan, and the Russo/British alliance divided Europe amongst themselves.  Then later, the UK took Washington.  UK was a friggin’ powerhouse by that point, not to be trifled with, so I (Japan) and Russia joined forces against them.
My leave ended at this time, so I personally couldn’t finish the game, but I was told that the Russkies took and kept London, and then (I’ll admit) they were in a position to crush the Japs.

Even though I had to accept defeat there, it was a fascinating game as far as alternate strategy, hell even alternate history, so I’d gladly play those teams again anytime.

    • RE: Object of Axis and Allies: Battle of the Bulge

As far as I can guess, I’m thinking it will be kinda like A&A D-day, y’know, where the aggressor has to control X amount of objectives by the end of round Y.  So maybe it will be kinda the same thing, only with Germany as the aggressor, obviously…

    • RE: Rule question

Just think of it this way:  Since trannies are NOT involved in the attack (they are not even on the battle board) then they don’t have to “waste any part of their move” getting to the objective.  However, any BBs or DDs that contributed to a battle offshore canNOT bombard during the amphibious assault.

You can always get creative, but I’m telling you:  You don’t need to rack your brain coming up with different rules/conditions; just re-arrange the teams as they are.  I already mentioned Germany and Russia together, but you can also try US and Japan together as well.

    • RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set 3: Contested Skies

OK - I got the Mustang and the Sturmovik now.  I have a complete set, only three days after it came out.  I’m definitely not bragging though.  Set 3 has already cost me 450 friggin’ bucks!

Definitely - That’s why my crew in ABQ usually plays with alternate teams.  Try Germany and Russia vs. Everyone else - that’s one of my favorites!

    • RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set 3: Contested Skies

I might say that it depends on what kinda terrain is on the map.  For example, if there are a lot of plains around the map, maybe it would be good to let your opponent go first and go out into the open, and then pick them off when they leave cover.  However, if both players spend the first turn positioning units to get better line-of-sight angles, then initiative doesn’t matter there.

And so you guys know, Set 3 is pretty fargin’ sweet!  I picked up (gulp) 20 boosters today, and I think the new units are nice.  The US got a new sniper, everybody gets an AA capable unit, and the US also gets some nice new tanks.  I hope the rest of you are pleased too.  The only thing I’m sorry about is that I didn’t get the Mustang or the Sturmovik.  The ONLY air units I got were Axis.  Oh, well - two Stukas sits well with me!  :-)

    • RE: First Time Troubles

I just gotta say something here:

      1)  Yes, it takes patience to get into the game; give it a few tries.

      2)  Marshalling cards help ALOT.  I find that you shouldn’t need any at the start of the game but you will as the game goes on.  I’ve had games where EACH power was designated two marshalling cards/tokens.  In Japan’s case, (I was Japan) I used both of mine for big, bad-a$$ fleets.  In one game, we were playing Germany and Russia vs. everyone else, so they ended up having a HUGE amount of combined land forces in Persia.

      3)  The game, as GG put it, does require a large commitment mentally.  I find that I like it that way.  Not to cut your friends down, but I’ve found that the people I like to play with are also people that I can relate to on a mental/intellectual level.

      4)  I really can’t tell you anything to help you with your gaming table and/or pets.  Maybe isolate the animals from the game entirely.  :|

      5)  As far as clutter goes, I’ve found that putting new units down (especially in Europe) sometimes people just can’t hold on to the pieces, they fall, and wipe out a decent cluster of units.  My solution:  Tweezers!  Makes it kinda like playing Operation!  Also, you can basically use the battle board as a reference most of the time…

I hope I and the rest of these guys helped out, because I would be very disappointed to learn that someone did not like and enjoy this game as much as I do.

    • RE: Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures

As far as combining the two games, why not just have it so the naval vessels aren’t actually present in the conflict, kinda like in regular D-day?  Y’know, have each ship fire once per turn, at targets a certain distance inland?  Just assign each type of ship a certain point value, based on its strengths/weaknesses…  :|
