      I would agree with sending the figher to Anglo Egypt, and armor to the south.

      @The:

      So you are most likely right about that the BBs will attack France before the German air flotilla can attack that fleet. So what, the very next move the fleet will be wiped out from fighters stacked in Germany or some were else in Europe!

      You said that the fighters would be stacked in France, so as to keep it away from Germany. If they were stacked in Germany, the navy can land there before the fighters ever get a chance to attack.

      And also, If you attack the Allied fleet that landed in France you run the added risk of flying across France’s AA gun.

      Not quite. The UK Navy can land ground units in France and bombard before the German fighters based there ever have a chance to attack it.

      @B.:

      Any time UK fleet will be in reach of Germany fighters in France he will attack if the odds strongly favor his force! If that does not happen in the first turn he will use those fighters against Russia until its time to fight that navy off!

      How are you going to use fighters based in France to fight Russia? They move four spaces. You can reach Karelia with this, but not Belorussia, or Ukraine. Any further, and they will not be able to land in France.

      @B.:

      But that will take a long time to build that fleet, since UK will loose India and Australia and half of Africa in the first three game turns!

      I don’t think so, just one or two Soviet armor can really help alot in India, and the US starting fleet adds 2 TP + 1 DD (edit: 2 DD if the one from the Pacific comes to the east coast on turn 1.) to the fleet landing in Algeria. Plus, you can combine the Australian and Indian fleets to conquer one or more of Japan’s islands.

      Right, Germany cannot destroy that force when it is produced. It will grow. UK won’t put her fleet in range of Germany first turn, unless perhaps Germany’s fighters  have made some odd move.

      And how will Germany attack it first thing with 6 fighters… She can’t… not even if she buys 4 fighters first turn can she attack it second turn.

    • RE: Question about subs in naval combat…

      Subs always can only hit naval units. It doesn’t actually make a difference in which step they fire when an enemy destroyer is present, as long as you can keep track. I prefer to roll black die for subs, white die for fighters, and in this manner get 2 types of units rolled hopefully in one toss of the die.

      @B.:

      Buddy you are lost! Germany will chose that battle, not UK! Germany will attack the navy with air and perhaps a few subs. And when they do, they will be sure about the odds to win!

      No.

      1)Germany must spent the bulk of her IPCs on land units.

      1. For UK, first I would make 1 CV to make use of those 2 fighters that start on the UK, then make transports and DD/BB as far as naval purchases go.

    • RE: Question about subs in naval combat…

      If you don’t have a destroyer present, losses inflicted by submarines can’t fire back for that combat round. (one combat round meaning both sides fire once, not each player having a turn.) Technically, submarines should fire always in opening fire step, but it really doesn’t matter since a destroyer negates the opening fire, making subs hit just like normal. It’s a technicality I guess.

    • RE: Help a rookie out…advice....

      Probably should not leave Africa alone. Make UK and US land troops in Algeria to reclaim it. I also wouldn’t suggest making 8 armor first turn. You should probably make at least one fighter, make sure the allied navy has to worry about your airforce so it can’t just make X inf. + X arm. + X TP each turn and then make one huge landing, and just continue to pump inf. + arm. You might want to use your Baltic fleet early in an aeronaval attack on the Allied fleet, it’s going to be destroyed soon if you don’t develop it.

      The navy is fine the way it is. BBs are very fine, UK can use them to great effect against Europe, as can Germany use it’s BB to support land troops attacking Africa. The repair is very nice as well and BBs can pay for themselves conceivably.

    • RE: 2 Destroyers OR 1 Battleship?

      Not necessarily, since subs don’t attack air.

      @The:

      u don’t get it! I said start with a fully loaded AC for defens. If you consider a naval attack then complement with just subs and one DD if the enemy has got subs! What I said was that a combo of just fully loaded ACs and subs, except for one DD, is the best buy all times!!! The bottom line is that there are no incentives to buy more than one DD or any BB!

    • RE: What is the point of fighters in an IPC raid?

      It depends on what rules you use. Like I said, under normal rules you can’t use fighters in an SBR.

    • RE: What is the point of fighters in an IPC raid?

      To take a hit for the bomber, to fire back at enemy fighters. These rules aren’t used in regular A&A revised though. You can’t use a fighter in strategic bombing using the normal rules.

    • RE: 2 Destroyers OR 1 Battleship?

      A fully loaded CV is not always the best buy.

      To invade a province quickly you it’s better to use 3 DDs with 9, rather than 1 CV 2 ftr at 7. If you’ve got time you can force the enemy to attack you in that SZ, but there are still many reasons why a fully loaded CV is not always the best.

    • RE: !BORNEO!

      Now that I think about it, isn’t 1 inf + 1 arm v 2 inf more than 50% to win?

      2 2
      1 3

      2
      3

      Although only by a slim marigin, so I’d probably still send the ftr.

    • RE: !BORNEO!

      @trihero:

      I usually recommend using attacking the solomon islands sub with the australian sub + indian fighter. If you have the anglo-egypt fighter then go ahead and invade Borneo too. It’s just that I like to help shift the Pearl Harbor odds out a bit so Japan has to be more committed to it.

      It’s probably staring me right in the face, but isn’t it 5 spaces from Anglo-Egypt to Borneo?

      @trihero:

      The problem with attacking Borneo is if Japan builds 3 transports the first turn and if you can’t sink them; he can easily retake it the second turn and invade India the third turn which will be 2 infantry weaker. He may even be tempted to attack it turn one since it will only have 2 infantry maximum and he can bring something like 2 infantry + 4 fighters + 1 bomber against it if he so wishes.

      I agree.

    • RE: The "right way" to play Germany

      Most likely, not all 72 is going to be devoted to fighting Germany. 2CV + 1 ftr. in the Pacific is a great T1 buy for US, and its not too unlikely that UK sends a few infantry to India.

      Just because you ignore the Western Allies and Africa doesn’t mean you are going to capture Russia’s 18 IC. Secondly, you can’t stop an Allied landing by only buying infantry and armor, and also capture Russia. How much IC will be spent on units to guard coastal territories (Norway, Western Europe, Germany, Italy, Balkans, Ukraine, Eastern Europe) and how much IC will be left over to fight Russia?

      As far as your KGF strategy… How long would it take you to get 15 infantry and 5 armor in every coastal province?

      edit- By buying ~1 ftr. each turn, you can help your ground force at the same time you create a real threat to the Allied Navy in your theater.
