Of course I tried it a couple of times, very intriguing especially because of Pacific islands, carrier scrambles, and airbase land scrambles, but also for those reasons I don’t play it because I’m not smart enough to switch back and forth to the regular map, islands, and scrambles. I would have to move completely to it, and I’m not doing that

I agree w. you and it takes a while to get used to it.
Also the tactic differs from BM global but adds some very interesting battles and positioning into the game.

I went back and forth for wether i like it or not.

You are right when you say that you should be comitted to one single full game, but you will get the hang of it.

JWW guided me pretty much through and we exchanged insights of our games we played.
Trulpen left some pretty good starting analysis in the PtV Strategic thread as well.

You should try it if you are getting the itch for a very solid complex game, but recommend for you to take your time on the turns and Set it as a term w. your opponent.

@666 was very kind and a very good sportsman, too.

I lost my two games but earned a lot of experiance!

Personally i would love to see people getting the best and the intrest of all of these provided league games including OoB, BM and PtV and Playoffs.

My bait to lure you in gamerman01.

      Best regards

@aequitas-et-veritas winners constantly win for a reason. Therefore we study! Pick one that has a top league player in it, and I’ll post on it.

Be determine!! A Top Player once to me said.

I for example tend to sway away from my original plan…

I thought a bit about an according Allies strategy guideline and came to the conclusion, it would be best to find an approbiate answer to a J1DoW and a G2 DOW since these would be the most represented Axis strategies.

All the Input made so far is good but in order to make an Allied playbook that everybody “could” use, a J1DoW and a G2/3 Opening should be the starting set up.

Well sometimes this is your last chance. After that, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and DizzKneeLand33 shows you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.😉

At this point i have to say that the “Allied playbook” is getting out of everybodys hands.

Please take a look again at cow’s Germany and Japan playbook and realize that he didn’t lay out a whole game, rather the start in detail and the main goals.

As for a Allied playbook i will repeat my self because you have to lay out a start and marching route for the Allies but NOT the whole game.
Things may change during the game and chances and opportunities arising for a swift blow.
And this is where you have to be ready as the Allied Player!

      We need to line out:
      G1 J1 G2 J1 G3 J1
      G1 J2 G2 J2 G3 J2
      G1 J3 G2 J3 G3 J3…and SL scenarios…

For the Allies in general i would allways recommend a purchase strat. wich gives you flexabilty.
A sturdy tank, Inf or Bmbr buy is not allways the best solution if you miss out good opportunities to change the gameplan for the Axis.
Delay the gameplan of the enemy, stall him, get more income then the Axis, deal huge damage so that he suffocate to get enough supplies to places he needs them.

      Tipp 1:
If you get a chance to kill ita canopeners do IT!

If you get a chance to kill IJN TT’s kill them!!

      Move on!

@simon33 , not only this but UK should be able to destroy all German Navy with the remaings of sz111 and London Ftrs.
Because of the same pattern people use in Live games, they should allready adjust to a solid counter strike.
      Available options also are:
      • early Finnland Landing by UK.
      • Neutral Crush
      • Green Skys (US Bmbr swarm)

But enough since this derrails only the topic of this thread.

Maybe we should start groupe to like out each nation?
      Thoughts??

@trulpen I agree 100% with you on that.

It is almost never a good idea to be too offensive against a strong playing Axis Germany Player.
If you can’t achieve a 1 - 1 kill Ratio in battles, don’t even think about it.

What could possibly be the gain of attacking Germany as Russia other then the defeat.
It simply does not pay off very well!

It is a little bit diffrent, when you are able to snipe out Italian can-openers…

I think that we are turning the wrong screws to make Vanilla work optimal for everybody.

The idea of an Allied Playbook is to give access to every Player to play as accordingly as possible to stand a chance against the Axis player.

This can only be achieved when we make sure that the “Allied player” understands the mechanics of the board and knows the crucial Spots on it and also gets a true feeling of what to purchase when.

We can take Axis pieces from the board as much as we want to and still loose!

A List of Spots were we have, no must! lay an eye on should make a good start together with a correctly adressed explanation of why this Spot is so important.

      Best regards

@AndrewAAGamer he brings the house, without the tactical bomber, and has lost an unusual number of times… its often the first roll of fire is very poor for germany and the French shoot back with average or better, and it snowballs from there…

Well then he should let the France Player roll for Germany and vise versa for this very first attack on G1.

      Problem solved.

No you can’t @Karl7. You activate it on your turn and the following turn you may move through it as a normal Territory.
Or you activate it with US on this Turn for example and blitz through it with UK on the same Turn.

    • RE: Axis are underpowered.

Well basically we would need more Informations and details, but will try my best and give you some hard worked out advise.
If you are a playgroup, try to change tactics a bit. Usually playgroups tend to stay and stick with a certain approach and or play style.
The strategy is clear. Get Moscow asap get India asap and go from there.

      Your basics should be this.
      As for Europe:
Everything goes east! G40 out of Box play (oob), with the very first income of 30 buy ground units only, kill sz 110 only by adding the planes you usually use for sz 111 so that you keep your Luftwaffe alive followed by the usual kill Paris and Yugo.
Buy Tanks and Mech and send them all east. Turn three Mix a few Inf units for Paris and Normandy.
Stick with one route towards Moscow.
Either south or north with your Main Force.
A lot of players go south bc the North will get abandond by russia the closer you get to Moscow.
Use your Italian Can openers (kill russian blitz blockets), so your Luftwaffe can also land there when you progressing into Russia.
Try to kill only with overwhelming odds and do not perform battles where one one one Infantry is fighting.
Buy an additional Bmbr when you reach moscow savely and are able to land savely by your main force to bmb moscows income.

Italy should threatening Egypt as much as possible to bind forces as long as possible there and prevent reenforce russia with Air.

With Japan you want to grab India as soon as possible.
For Oob it is still a viable strategy to perform a J1.
But since it seems that you are struggeling with early landings in Europe, try to alter with an J3 to keep US as long as possible out of europe and pacific.
Vital for you seems to old on linger on Caro. Is . To do that land additional planes there and or Menpower.
Important for Japan is: keep the money Islands, bring lots of ground units onto the mainland of china and keep Caro. Is. as long as possible.

These are a few advises from me.
Other players arround here will gladly contribute additional advise as well.
      Hth
      Good luck

    • RE: taking out the Brit destroyers?

@crockett36 said in taking out the Brit destroyers?:

@superbattleshipyamato try it out. If you get lucky and burn planes as casualties you are immediately convoying England. Usually in both 109 and 106.

Has no upside only downsides to it.
The more Planes Germany looses, the less power of threat it has against Russia and later UK and US Naval assets.
So this is simply a bad idea.

You may try to kill sz 106,109 and 110 and buy an Bmbr w. Subs first round or a CV w. Sub and kill the rest of RN on round two.

But this the maximium of feelings you can get from it.
Usually when some of these battles (sz 106,109,110) went south, you should def. primarily focus on Russia alone.

The reason why we even attack the most of RN first round is to clear and standoff against sz 110.
When th US enters the war and controlls sz 110 along with UK RN,
It is on Germany to defend the Homeland a fight two frontlines.

From 110 you reach everywhere you need as the Allied Player,
      wich is:
Gibraltar, sz92,Germany, Western Germany, Norway, Denmark, Normandy, Belgium, Morrocco, Algeria.

This is a lot of Ground to cover for Axis.
Therefore sz 110 is a vital Keypoint!

The idea should be to delay as long as possible the process of Allies controlling sz110!!
