Thanks.  It was a great post.  Thanks for bringing the community the needed pick-me-up.  Very exciting.

The maps you guys provided on here are very nice.  However, I haven’t been able to find one with starting units placed at all.  It would be a nice reference when discussing strategy.  I’ve only played this version a few times so far so I don’t have starting units memorized or anything.

Has anyone seen a map with starting units placed on it (at least listed)?  or pictures/lists of the starting placement cards?

It’s also important to consider what is behind the dead zone. It may be a vital territory meaning that your opponent will risk airforce to clear your zone of anything up to three or more inf.

A common example is in Revised. For instance, Russia has a stack in Ukraine. Germany has a stack in E.Europe. So the German player puts an inf in Balkans as a picket. This has happened more than once when I have played on Gametable online. It should be a novices mistake - but this happensmore often than you would think so the Uk sends a bomber over Balkans and clears it and the 8/9 Russian tanks can have a pop straight at Germany or even if Germany is stacked:Italy.

Even in situations where the German player has put three inf I’ve taken the risk of two ftrs and a bmbr if I’m confident that the Russians can get Germany next go.

Just as other ships may, submarines may also move out of a sea zone where they begin their turn with enemy ships, even destroyers.  The destroyer doesn’t stop the sub’s movement, as the sub didn’t enter the sea zone - it started off there.

A new edition of A&A is to be released in August 2009.

There is a box to the right on this forum, showing it will sell for $39.95 and the Anniversary Edition for $97.99, however, when you click on it, it sends you to Amazon, where the regular edition is $125.99 and the Anniversary edition is $399.99. I doubt they will sell very many.

Early, UK needs a couple transports, or he’s no threat to German income, and therefore ignorable…more Nazis to Moscow.

Those transports have to stay alive though, so UK usually has to be conservative and coordinate from round 2 onwards with the US.

US needs to build DDs early to help clear the Atlantic, figs and boms help too…if they don’t have to go to Russia, they can help clear the last of the subs, or the Med fleet if it’s wandering north.

Once the Allies have enough DDs, or the German threat is gone, US switches to nothing but loaded transports…maybe a fighter if he’s got money. UK can pretty much do as he likes, exploiting weaknesses and opening things up for the US.
