    • Better axis strategy

I need some help. I just finished my first game of E1940 as the axis, and around G10 I had to concede defeat. I tried Barbarossa G3, and got Leningrad soon. I also, as Italy had most of the middle east, and even Stalingrad about I5.
I had several horribly failed sea lions due to bad dice and not enough naval power. Eventually, Britain and the US both had Huge fleets in the channel and were dumping infantry into western europe by the dozens. I was able to fight them off earlier, but now there is just too much. I also just can’t maintain a Navy, although at the end I had a pretty sizable one, but it was too late
Italy has most of africa, and there are no allied ships in the med, but britain controls gibraltar and there is just 1 Italian Battleship standing between it and italy. The British factory in south africa has pushed all the italian units out of africa, and it will soon be blitzing through some tanks.
There  is literally nothing standing between the Red Army and Berlin except 1 german infantry and about 2 spaces. I have no land units east of Germany and Greater Southern Germany. It seems my game will end similarly to the way the real war ended.

I hope that I gave enough information. BTW, I am using OOB rules.

Soviet Union isn’t hard. In real life Russia is easy to defend too. Just destroy all the cities and wait 'till winter :-D

    • RE: Turkey

I forgot about the german NO for Sweden… Turkey is arguably the most important pure neutral, both from a geographic standpoint and the one with the largest army. The axis needs would probably need a good navy to make it work.

    • Turkey

I’m just gonna throw this one out there.

If the UK kicks italy out of north africa early on, how logical would it be for italy to invade turkey I3 or I4? what about if They are doing well in africa? it would be an easy way for germany and italy to sneak behind russian defenses because not only does it offer a bridge between the balkan area and caucasus without having to go through russian territory, it also opens up the black sea. The obvious downside is that the U.S. or UK will probably invade spain, getting the 6 infantry and an undefended foothold in europe, not to mention a ton of other IPC and infantry boosts from other pure neutrals.

    • RE: General questions

      @Cow:

Well either way. uk can only make 9-10 inf r1.  germany round 2 buys more transports and dumps what he has on to a spot near uk. G3 is boom boom if you got the forces or wait a round just shuffle a bunch of guys over and G4 it is done.

There is nothing uk can do. period.

What are you talking about? That has nothing to do with this topic

    • RE: General questions

Oh, so that 17 ipc boost is a one time thing, not added to the income. I’ve been reading that rule wrong the whole time.

    • General questions

      1. Is Ontario adjacent to the central U.S and the Eastern U.S?
      2. If germany takes France on G1 ( getting all 17 IPCs) then Italy takes south France, does Italy take the 3 IPCs from germany?

    • General questions

I don’t have the rulebook, so can I get these questions answered plese?

      1. Can a tank and a mech infantry be on a transport at the same time
      2. Can a unit that can move 2 spaces (Like those two^) get on a transport, then get off to attack on the same turn as a combat move?

      Edit: more questions:

      3. Say Germany takes France, getting all of there IPCs. Then Italy takes Southern France. Does Italy take the IPCs for that territory from Germany, or do they take control of it, but not get the IPCs?

4: Is Ontario adjacent to eastern united states and central united states?

    • RE: Submarine Questions

To answer all of your questions, planes and submarines cannot attack each other unless there is a destroyer. Period

    • RE: G1 sealion?

Well, that changes things :-P it could still probs be done in about 2 turns, most of which could be done in the first move anyway. I’m pretty new to A&A in general, so thanks for the heads-up. Btw, I don’t think I’ve ever made moves like this, but if I have, I sure won’t anymore

    • G1 sealion?

Edit: I got my answer, maybe I will post a revised thread later. I’m gonna lock the post now.

I noticed everyone is talking about how germany and italy are disadvantaged in this game, so I looked at the setup map (I don’t have the game :-( ) to try to think up a g1 strategy that can even the odds a little.

This is is an insanely risky move because you could lose your entire luftwaffe and most of your atlantic navy, but if the dice are on your side, you could eliminate britain’s european income before they can do a single thing about it.

(note: this plan relies on a tank being able to unload and offload from a transport in the same turn. Please tell me if you cant do this in E40, because you can in Spring 1942)

Purchase: Units to fight Russia! you already have all the pieces you need on the board already!

Combat phase: This is composed of several battles that will eliminate the navy in the english channel and the entrance to the Baltic Sea, eventually clearing the way for an amphibious assault.
      1. Destroy the Brittish and French cruisers at the entrance to the Baltic. This will be done with the battleship from sz113, The bomber in germany, and the sub in 124. Do not take the cruiser. You will need it for the amphibious assault.
      2. Send 2 fighters and 2 tactical bombers to attack Britain. The goal of this is both to weaken the UK player’s ground forces, and to keep as many aircraft as possible from scrambling.
      3. Attack the destroyer/battleship fleet in the English channel with an amphibious assault. Use the 3 subs that are in range, plus the cruiser and transport in the baltic (after you load a tank and an artillery, of course) and any remaining aircraft (you should have 1 fighter and 1 tactical bomber in range who have not yet fought). If you destroy the fleet, bombard and invade britain. If you won all these battles, you are now the proud owner of 29 more IPCs. Get ready to fight the US and Russia!
      4. Use any other units to kill France.

      Strategic implications
Now Italy doesn’t have to worry about south Africa anymore, and you can spend more resources on Russia and less on Britain.

P.s. Can a tank and mech inf be on a transport at the same time? If so, use that instead of just the tank

P.p.s. Feel free to use the planes and subs in whatever combination you want. I think most of them are capable of reaching any of the battles.

The union jacks are for india’s (uk pacific) income in the global game, because you need to keep the economies separate. There are two so you can have a spare
