    • RE: Is Greenland an island?

Yes Greenland is an island but if you want to take advantage of Greenland in terms of the NA “island bases” than no its not an island

clearly the intent of that NA is for use in the pacific agianst the Japanese.

    • RE: Caucasus = dead zone?

Thats what I decided to do, except for the AA gun, I left that there and 4 infantry, 1 had to be there and it may have been a dumb move on my part but I figured with 4 infantry he wouldnt be able to do a “strafe” style move and take it with minimal forces

    • Caucasus = dead zone?

So Im in the midst of a round 2 Russia Turn….and I’m left debating what to do with my front line. I currently have it split between Caucasus and West Russia with a total defensive punch around 46…however, I have noticed that Germany can bring a pretty big force into these territories…4 tanks, 3 inf, 4 ftrs, 1 bomber plus a transport and a battleship so throw in another infantry and tank…the same can be said for west russia minus the transport and battleship.

I have the North slightly cut off and steady, 4 British units in Norway with 2 inf holding Karelia 1 inf in Belorussia (the territory west of west russia) No German transports in the Med, I have 3 british transports but those could be gone depending on Germany’s play.

So heres the question…do I dead zone Caucasus and leave 1 inf and stack West Russia for the counter. Do I leave a baited Caucasus with a few infantry…and so forth

      what do you guys think

There may be good ways to play it but Im saying I dont think this game is a shinning example of it.

SZ 7 is between England and West Russia.  And I didnt go on an attacking spree, I took West Russia and Ukraine (got favorable dice in both the attack and the counter defense) He didnt take Egypt so I have the India fleet in the Med and he used his subs and planes to take out my BB so his Med fleet is sitting next to Italy and he only used planes to take out my DD. So all in all I took out 1 fighter in Ukraine and I think he lost a couple trying to take out my BB and my DD

    • RE: Can Germany win without a Baltic carrier?

Im currently in Round 1 of a game as the allies, my oponent did not purchase an AC and this game will not last long because of it. He purchased 8 tanks which are good land units, but he doesnt have much of an airforce and his navy is gone. (he moved his baltic fleet to sz 7 and is currently being wiped out) I have 4 land units in Norway and 3 transports sitting in the waters off England waiting to deploy 6 more units either in Norway or Western Europe. The United states will be moblizing its units into Canada and will be primed to drop 4 more units either on Africa or if Western Europe is open, they’ll support the UK there. Sure those 8 tanks can counter and retake Western Europe but I’ll be back next round with more units from the Allies. Its only round 1 and Ive already got the one two punch set up with UK and USA. They can continue to jab Germany until it falls.

    • RE: German Strategy question: Fighters to Western Europe?

With all those fighters and a few infantry the allies would lose that landing unless they had a massive landing force.

With the fighters in Western Europe they can attack any naval unit that is anywhere near Europe or Northern Africa.

So yes they do a good job of keeping the navy at bay without fear of losing the fighters to a landing.

    • RE: Taking Algeria on U.S. Turn 1…

I had a game where I landed in California, would have won me the game if I could have held off his small tank army and fighter from Eastern US, but he knocked me out the next round and got some really good rolls and it was over shortly after.

I however will not divulge how I was able to land there, I dont want to give away my secret

    • RE: Some help with AA (new player)

Dont think of the units as “A bomber” or “An infantry”

They are more like squads. The bomber squad may be comprised of bombers and some fighter escort, the infantry is a group of infantry possibly with some other vehicles and armament to help. A carrier isnt just a carrier its a group of ships with the Carrier being the most important, thats how I view the units.

    • RE: UK1 options when still controlling Egypt

To try and get this discussion going agian……

The key to having egypt is having that extra fighter, so whats the best move with that fighter?

Is the extra fighter off Kwangtung really going to hinder Japan?

Is pulling the DD and the fighter to the india fleet and moving the aussie fleet west in an atempt to make a sizeable UK pacific fleet on UK 2 worth it?

Is having the India Fleet in the Med with 2 fighters on the carrier a huge headache for Germany? <— my vote

    • RE: Replace the Bidding System

My intial reaction is a thumbs down.  I’ve seen it stated elsewhere that a mandatory 9 IPC bid for the axis has lead to nearly a 50/50 split in axis wins vs allied wins

Germany did not capture Egypt. What are the best options for UK in this situation. I was thinking move the DD and the Fighter to the India fleet.
