      If Germany only brings a BB and Cruiser with 2 transports to England to conduct an amphibius assault, the Brits could hold them off by scrambling 3 fighters.

      I guess this is where the German Carrier comes in?

      Can Germany bring addional air support for the amphibious assault to support the BB and Cruiser thinking that Britain might scramble?  Is this allowed?

    • RE: ALPHA + 3!

      All i can say about the British fleet moving into SZ 95 or 97 is by the time my turn with Germany comes around on G2, at the end of my turn, there won’t be any British ships left in either of those Sea Zones.

    • Minor IC in Ukraine

      I am really curious why this is here.  This can only benefit the Germans.  They will take it and it gives them a nice springboard for conquering southern Russia.

      Strategically, what was the reason?

      What was the historical reason?

      Thanks.

      Alpha +2.

      If Japan takes FIC, they lose there 10 IPC bonus, Correct?

      Does that bring USA into the war?

      Does it bring UK/ANZAC into the war?

    • Building IC on foreign soil

      The Alpha +2 rules state that no IC can be built on foreign soil. What about the territories of Shantung and Kiangsu?  These are Japanese controlled at the beginning of the game, but show a Chinese symbol on them. Can Japan build an IC on these territories?

    • RE: Lessons Learned Global 1940

      Here is a huge one.  Forgive if this has been mentioned already.  For Russia, DO NOT congregate your Eastern Forces in AMUR on the FIRST turn.  HUGE MISTAKE.  Japan will attack them and you will lose 18 INF and 1 AA gun.

    • RE: Any thoughts on the Minor IC in Southern Ukraine?

      What is the thought behind that IC?  History in WWII? Does that represent Kiev?  There was a huge contingency of Ukrainians that joined the Wehrmacht after the German liberation of Ukraine.

    • RE: SBRs

      @kcdzim:

      @Benerfe:

      Wait so. For how many rounds?

      Is it like Escort-interceptors battle first until one side is dead?

      Or does it transition into bomber part

      one roll for each plane.

      Phase 1:  Escorts roll one die each.  Hit Interceptors are removed and do not fire back.  Move onto battle between remaining Interceptors and Bombers.

      Phase 2A:  Bombers fire, hit interceptors go to a “casualty” zone.
      Phase 2B:  Interceptors fire, attacker selects which bomber (or tac bomber) is a casualty. Any interceptor hits that remain if all bombers were destroyed are assigned to escorts (This is the only way to hit an escort now).

      Phase 3: assign remaining bombers to target
      Phase 4: AA fire on bombers.
      Phase 5: roll, damage, etc.

      Its unclear in Alpha +1 whether the interceptor hits are applied to bombers only and not to escorts? Where did this come from?

    • SBRs

      From Alpha +1

      9. Strategic Bombing Raids procedure:
      • Escorts fire @1, and interceptor casualties are immediately removed.
      • Bombers fire @ 1 and interceptors fire @ 2. Remove bomber and interceptor casualties
      • Surviving bombers are assigned a target
      • The target fires its AA guns at the attacking aircraft - @1
      • Surviving bombers attack their target, looking for the highest number possible

      Trying to understand this…
      1. Escorts fire, so the interceptor IF HIT, Cannot return fire and are removed immediately? Is that true?
      2. Bombers fire (MY QUESTION IS WHOSE?)

    • Alpha +1 rule US Minor ICs

      8. All 3 Minor ICs in the continental US automatically are immediately converted to Major ICs when the US is at war. They can be upgraded at any time for 20 IPCs.

      Here is the rule, but right below the automatically and immediately converted part there is the "they can be upgraded at any time for 20 ipcs?

      Can someone explain this?

      Does USA have to pay 20 ipcs to upgrade when they go to war?

    • RE: If you already have AA50 and Revised, what's the point of buying AA1942?

      It is not worth getting without Italy.  Italy has set the standard now.  Its not a real A&A game without it.

    • RE: Why not a rule to attack with multi-national forces - the one flaw of the game.

      Yeah, I think that is probably the best…a house rule.  I have just found for the Allies once to get on France and stay there you have to have some sort of combined effort from UK and US powers.  Britain has to attack France first and then the US can attack or reinforce.  If Germany defends or counterattacks and holds or retakes France then was it really worth it.

      We shall see…I will play some more and see how it goes.  Thanks for all you all’s input.

    • RE: Allies lose every game.

      @General:

      Hi there…

      When I play as Allies I lose everytime against a good axis player.

      Funny, I have just the opposite reaction.  The Axis lose alot more than the Allies.  Italy by far is the weak link of the Axis Powers.  Concentrate on the Allies coming up through the bowels of Italy and you’ll have no problem with Germany later in the game.

      @GoekaWar:

      This is the Anniversary Edition with a new map, new country’s to play with, AND new rules. So we are not playing Revised now. Maybe the Axis the can do the same, with Germany and Italy, as a multi-national force. :-D But A&A is just a game, , it was not to be a historical game in the first place.

      This one is more historical IMO than any of the rest…especially with the national objectives to earn extra IPCs.

      The many games I have played, it seems to end all the same.  America and Britain end up in Germany through Italy.

      @Crossover:

      Multinational forces would make the Allies win too easily, such as happened in history. We want a board game that every side can win.

      Trying playing the Axis then.  Your right though, with the option of a D-Day attack, it would be really tough on Germany.
