    • Quick Question about Strictly Neutral nations

I am a bit confused about the rules regarding strictly neutral nations…

If I were to invade a strictly neutral nation (before any others have been invaded), must I do this during the noncombat moves? If I do move in do I get the infantry listed there? Or must I move in during combat moves and fight the infantry?

    • RE: How long do your Global 1940 games last?

Yea I almost always set it up the night before and we like to start playing at 10am. Having said that, the games still usually go until the small hours

    • Turn by turn game on Twitter

      Greetings all,
Long time lurker, rare poster. My friends and I will be playing a game of A&A Global Tomorrow and I thought that I’d create a Twitter account to give anyone interested a turn-by-turn update of the course of the game. If you’re interested, the account name is AnADelaware.

    • RE: Does Risk suck?

Risk, I find, is much more of a social game that can be picked up and played with friends. Its simple and most people know how to play it anyway. The game is different each time (due to random positioning) and its alot more fun among your normal friends thanks to the ability to form treaties, etc. that can’t normally be done in A&A due to static teams.

That being said, the strategic depth of Risk is very limited. It all comes down to positioning and timing. The nice thing about A&A (but at the same time, the thing that seems to limit it) is the varied unit types. If you want to play a good game of A&A you need five guys that know the rules and are devoted to the game with approximately equal playing ability. In Risk, you can slap together four+ players of decent caliber and you can have a good game.

I like Risk because my friends seems to have a tough time wrapping their minds around A&A and the difference in skill is astounding. However, there is somthing about A&A that makes it so appealing. That somthing is the strategic depth, but I am repeating myself.

I like Risk 2210. Its awesome. Many more options.
I kinda like Risk Godstorm. Its cool to have gods, but I’ve found that 2210 is much more interesting.

    • RE: Killer Bunnies

I enjoy Killer Bunnies. Its nice to play with a few friends one rainy afternoon or late at night. The fact that someone who is dominating and still easily loose is somewhat appealing. That way there is always hope for victory

    • Concerning Brazil

How much strategic value does Brazil have? Sure, it produces three a turn which is nice. But its all the way out there. If it were to be captured, would it be worth taking back? Is it even worth capturing as the Axis?

    • RE: Number of victory cities?

      @Guerrilla:

All my games are 9 pointers now for the following reasons:

      1. I usually don’t have more then 4-5 Hours and a 10 VC game for a group I typically play with is like a 8-10 hour game…
      2. Axis Victory and Allied Victory is usually achieved with a balanced buy in the sense that you must get a good build in order to win…
      3. More fun imo…

as far as different VC’s consider:
      Hawaii (instead of San Fransisco)
      Canberra (Instead of Calcutta)

      or try more VC’s:
      Canberra
      Hawaii
      Vladivstok (Soviet Far East)
      Cairo
      Rio De Janerio (Brazil)
      Baku (Novorbisk)

      GG

Isn’t Baku the capital of Azerbaijan? So wouldn’t it be located in Caucauses?

    • RE: What would you change?

      @General_D.Fox:

:-D  We, in exchange, burned down your White House.  8-)  But all is good and well now (somewhat, of course.)

Pleh, that was the Brits. Though the Canadians did defend very well when we led an incrusion into Canada. They stopped us and thats nothing to scoff at.

      Anyway…
I do like the rules as they exist now(for the most part). I would like to see either new or changed rules for research. It seems that alot of the researches (except Superbombers and Rockets) are not worth the risk and the 5 IPCs you spend for a chance.

    • Newbie Questions

Sorry, I just recently bought Axis and Allies and I need a rule clarified.

For flying units, is the movement value the value I can move into enemy terriroties, attack, and retreat with the same value or do I need to divide the units movement in two. That may sound confusing so heres an example

Say I have a fighter wing in Trans-Jordan and I want to attack an enemy in India. Would my four point of movement be spent like Persia to India to Persia then to Trans Jordan (for a total of 4 spaces) or could I spend it Persia to India, to French Indochina then back through India, Persia, and to Trans-Jordan (a total of 6 spaces).

Thanks in advance for the reply
