      It is amazing how much resources Hitler put into the defense of the British owned Channel Islands. He demanded between 10 to 25% of all Atlantic Wall material get dedicated to these Islands.

      Lucky for us, Hitler was really dumb and was a terrible commander. He crippled his air force, threw away an army (6th), wasted his Kriegsmarine,he made Normandy an allied victory.
      I believe that Germany would have won if they had been a competent military mind as head of state, or even if Hitler just didn’t interfere in military decision.

      @ABWorsham:

      I wonder how a Germany ruled by the Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm would have faired had WWI been just a large Balkan Conflict?

      I think quite well.  The breakup of the Austrian-Hungary empire would probably have happened in which case I think Austria becomes very politically tied to Germany (perhaps it even becomes part of Germany).  Either way (or even without Austria) Germany would be the economic leader of Europe by the mid 1950’s.

      I read that several NFL players, such as Randall Cunningham would not lend their names to the game. So he is represented by QB Eagles, he was awesome.

      I played a season where I attempted to get him a 1000 yards on the ground.

      IL2 Sturmovik and the T-34 all versions for WWII. The MIG15 for Korea. These three had a tremendous impact when they first appeared on the battlefield. Got to get the AK47 in there somewhere.

      I caught Predators on Friday finally. This stuff either works for you or it doesn’t and this one worked for me. I think they overdid the shaky camera thing in one of the fights and while I’ve always liked Brody he made a far more credible badass than I was expecting. I could have used a bit more info about the Predators and a bit more delving into the Predator/prey hunting sentient creatures tale these stories seem to want to be about but a nice little ride.

      I also liked that it was or at least appeared to be lite on the CGI and heavy on actual make-up and muppets for the bad guys. Didn’t seem to have a bunch of effects shots for the sake of having effects shots.

      And the terrain/jungle felt alien despite it no doubt being earth.

      Must see for diehard fans and must rent for folks who’ve seen Predator a few times more than three but don’t consider themselves ‘diehard.’

      Lets not forget that both Germany and Japan had an Atomic weapons program…  although far behind the Western Allies in funding and priority.
      Yes but their budget and their technology was far behind the US project.
      Japan bacterologic weapon program was more elaborated.

      Another intresting thought. Could a Japanese involvment in the central powers caused a bigger shift in Europe. Italy was still neutral, and had originaly been part of the central powers. Perhapse Japanese involvment and a few stunning early victories, like taking Hong Kong and destroying a few European powers east asian squadrons, could have brought the Italians in on the Centeral side. Granted, Italian preformance in the war was pretty poor, and I wouldnt expect them to do much. However it would have been another front for the allies to have to send troops to. A front the central powers wouldnt have needed to send forces to, and it would have ment another fleet in the Med for the allies to deal with.Also, Italian involvment would have ment that the British would have had to fight on 2 fronts in Egypt. I dont know qutie what the Italians had, but either way it would have stretched the British more.

      I recently played as Germany with no bids.  I just invaded Egypt on G1, then focused my purchases for the “German Lurch.”  Due to some fortuitous submarine rolls and the US focus in the pacific, I actually managed to secure all of Africa in about 5 rounds, while Japan invaded the mainland.

      But, we still lost due to the enormous US navy in the pacific which threatened to invade japan’s Kwangtung and Manchuria factories, thereby allowing Russia to invade Germany.

      :(

      Just noticed the German West losses I gave earlier is for  Sept 1939 to April 1945. It includes the 1940 losses, an extra 156,556.

      **Heer Losses in the Polish, Norwegian, French, and Balkan Campaigns
      (Organizationsabteilung d. Gen,Stb. d. OKH. 6 Feb 45, NARA T78, R414, F3226-3227

      Losses in the Feldheer**
      ……KIA…WIA…MIA…Total
      Poland …8,082…27,278…5,029…40,389
      Norway …1,166…1,548 …1,091…3,805
      France… 27,650…115,299…13,607… 156,556
      Balkans…1,593…4,845…644…7,082
      Total …38,491…148,970…20,371 …207,832

      So the claims made in the Third Army  book are even further off!

      @Cromwell_Dude:

      WHAT REALLY ANGERED THE NORTH AFTER THE WAR?   The 13th Amendment for one thing outlawed slavery.   Remember, before the war, slaves only counted as 3/4 of a person.   When the 13th amendment outlawed slavery, what happened to Black person’s worth in the South?   You got it: they ‘became’ a full person.   Now, then, what happened to the South’s representation in Congress after the war?   Oh no!!!   IT INCREASED!   I understand the Northern anger.

      So what did they(the North) do in response?

      @ABWorsham:

      Should the Italians and Germans occupied Tunisia in 1941? This would have given more airfields to attack Malta bound convoys, provided more ports for shipping, ports that were closer to the Apennine Peninsula. The addition of these ports would forced the British to hunt for shipping west of Malta, which could have helped ease the stress on Tripoli and Benghazi convoys.

      Those might have proved to be advantages to the Axis, but they might have come at the cost of negative consequences that would have offset them.  Tunisia was a Vichy-controlled territory at the time.  If the Axis had invaded Tunisia, the Vichy regime would likely have regarded this as a breach of the 1940 armistice terms with Germany, and would probably have reacted in ways Germany would not have liked.  Remember that when the Allies invaded North Africa, Germany occupied the “unoccupied” Vichy-controlled southern part of France, to which France responded with the scuttle of its fleet at Toulon to keep it out of German hands.  France might have done the same thing if the Axis had walked into Tunisia in 1941, and might even have jumped to the Allied side entirely.  So the cost-benefit analysis of an Axis invasion of Tunisia involves some tricky might-have-beens.
