      My Grandfather was an Air-Traffic Controller during the Berlin Airlift. These were hard times where people starved every day, and poverty was replete everywhere.  A note from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Blockade

      United States Joint Chiefs of Staff (“JCS”) directive 1067 embodied the Morgenthau Plan’s goals, but implementation proved impractical because it prevented the effective functioning of the occupation, not least because it proscribed personal contact between Germans and Americans.[7] Former US President Herbert Hoover, in one of his reports from Germany, argued for a change in occupation policy, amongst other things stating: “There is the illusion that the New Germany left after the annexations can be reduced to a ‘pastoral state’. It cannot be done unless we exterminate or move 25,000,000 people out of it.”[6]

      @johnnymarr:

      Morrissey on May 11, 2007 at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha, NE.

      shame on me, i forgot Morrissey.

      Morrissey, November 2007, Chicago

      Morrissey is one of a couple of bands/singers that I would see more than once. Metallica was a pretty good show too.

      @Sun_Tzu:

      Whats the purpose of this topic exactly? Theres not really anything more more for someone to post on this except “yeah, I like it too” (which I do actually, good game)  :mrgreen:

      I haven’t played it but I would be curious to see what people think of it. I think there is more than just the simple “I liked it…”

      You can address errata to make it better, mechanics that weren’t the best, best moments, etc.

      The M14/41 gets my vote. Not the best tank by any means, but it’s just plain cool.

      @ABWorsham:

      Is the Lord Of The Rings online game worth downloading and playing? Is it more than Runescape?

      I’ve heard a lot of people recommend it, particularly since it was free.  I’ve seen a lot of Top 10 MMOs of the past few years include it in their list.

      if germany blew up the radar sites uk would not have been able to scramble their fighters to the exact spot needed to stop the german squadrons, thus germany would have been able to better bomb the airfields and airplane factories.

      the only reason they started bombing cities willy-nilly, was one of their bombers accidently bombed a city, and uk responded by bombing a german city and that escalated the city bombing war on both sides.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        if germany stuck with its plan, even with uk radar functioning, they would have destroyed the airfileds and would have thus dominated the sky.  :evil:

      The Panzer IV is getting a lot of love in this poll. The Panzer III in the early years of the war was the German’s tank killer tank with it’s long 50mm gun. The early versions of the Panzer IV had a short 75mm gun.

      I’ll be posting the mid war years 41-43 tanks soon.

      Played it once, 2 vs. 2.  I was on the Republic side and saw that we basically needed to rush to do damage and hopefully minimize Palpatine’s revolution.  We had some terrible rolls whereas the other team had great ones.  It was basically a few turns of us not making any progress, then Order 66 was called and it was essentially over.  There are some specific rules for the game and it’s different than regular Risk, so I think it’s neat, just need to play it a few more times.

      @frimmel:

      I’d say the Soviets and absolutely not Japan or the UK.

      I’d say absolutely not Germany, b/c they will get attacked by 3 powers, at least if the allies conduct an efficient strategy :)

      With the US a newb can get to feeling left out by lots of waiting to move something or for a chance to even just roll some dice. And they really need to deal with all of the units and trying to manage some sort of transport system. The US might be best for the team in that game as they supposedly can’t make big blunders (and are you sure about that?) but if you want them to keep coming around you need to give them more to do.

      Depends on the newb of course.

      I didn’t think of the psychological aspects, but it won’t take more than 1-2 rounds until the US lands in Africa, and from there the US player will see some conflict, or at least get closer and closer to some important dice rolling.

      It didn’t matter.  The war in the Eastern front was all but over for Germany after the winter of 41’.  Very few winter uniforms were issued to German soldiers because the High Command believed they would be drinking vodka in the Kremlin by the end of the year.  One story recalls West of Moscow in mid-December that the frozen legs of 73 dead Russian soldiers were sawed off below the knee and put in ovens, to warm the boot off the foot so they could be taken off and given to 73 German soldiers.  The German men and equipment were not ready for the shock of the winter.

      You have to remember that this was an all or nothing more for Hitler, (Directive no. 21) and If he could not capture Moscow and only Moscow before 42’ the war was over.  Subsequently, Hitler ended up being his own demise after continuing to contradict himself over his goals (Should I stay and siege Leningrad, should I capture Kiev, a should I move the South army north and pincer Moscow?) Now I understand the idea of capturing the oil fields in the Caucasus, but the heart, communications, and command of Russia ran from Moscow.  Why cut off a hand, when you can cut off the head?  Basically if you capture Moscow you could walk down to the oil fields with little resistance.  Also, by the end of 41’ the Allies had fully committed themselves to helping Russia.  America and the UK thought Russia was doomed, but after seeing the resistance the Russians put up, it would soon be a 3 v 1 battle.

      I suppose if this Campaign has taken place in Midwest America, where there was little chance of a Russian winter then I have no doubt believing that Germany would have had time to capture Moscow.

      @Jermofoot:

      @ABWorsham:

      What you guys think about the Wade Phillips getting fired as Cowboys head coach?

      I don’t think he was a huge problem, but he definitely was part of the issue especially when it came to raising hell how the Boys are losing.  Honestly I don’t have much hope for Jason, and think Jerry needs start by removing himself from GM.

      I think his ‘player coach’ attitude slowly worn on the organization. I know he didnt cause the bad choices on the field, but someone’s head needed to roll.
