JAPANESE OPERATION Cposted in World War II History
How does the Axis and Allies community judge Japan’s Operation C, also known as the Indian Ocean Raid? What results would have happened had the British Forces A and B combined and meet the Japanese Combine Fleet?
How would a Japanese base in Madagascar have played out?

@Topmat We played the LOTR Risk for years. We had some great times. The game had strongholds, mountain ranges, ports, and rivers.

RE: Is this common knowledge?posted in General Discussion
@aequitas:
Well explained Gargantua, well explained.
I agree, I believe this gentleman likes the idea of studying WW2, but has a slightly above normal general knowledge of the topic. The average person off the street believes the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Is this common knowledge?posted in General Discussion
Had a guy proclaim a few weeks ago that he loves World War Two. Today we started talking, I wanted to lead the conversation into the War. I asked the gentleman, what is your favorite theater of conflict in WW2? His reply was are talking about movie theaters or WW2?
Is this fairly elementary WW2 language?

RE: You May Be A WWII Junkieposted in World War II History
My son had some Axis and Allies submarines out on table next to his tablet. I told him, your tablet makes a great U-boat pen.
That makes you a WW2 junkie.

RE: WW1 what if ?posted in World War II History
Had the Western Front been a conflict along the borders focusing on the fortresses and strongholds I can see the French and possibly English sending a large Expeditionary Force into the East.

RE: Large scale Yamato Modelposted in World War II History
I bought a toy model of the Iowa from a garage sale as a teen. She was launched in our lake. We then commenced to attack her with bb guns until she slipped beneath the waves.
It was great fun. We could never locate the wreck.

Napoleon vs Duke of Wellingtonposted in General Discussion
Napoleon’s invasion of Russia robbed history of a showdown of Napoleon and the Duke fighting a campaign in Spain.
Although I believe the Duke would have fought a rearguard action while working his way toward the safety of the Spanish coast.

@ABWorsham:
Just got Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger in the mail.
Storm of Steel was an amazing read. It’s a great firsthand account of the brutality of the Western Front.

RE: Boardgame Popularityposted in General Discussion
Any gamer that want a dedicated gaming room need to stay singel and stay free. That is the only way. If you want company of women then goodbye boardgameroom and say hello to 5 kids, 2 cats, a big Husky, a Toyota family van and to spend the rest of your life at your day job to pay for all this. You dont argue with women, you will have to choose, either you do sports and games, or you commit 100 % to making a family. You can say goodbye to beer and fishing too, I know, been married 2 times.
Beer, fishing, and Axis and Allies all can be done while married. The key is moderation. I have trained my sons into Axis and Allies players. My wife has a three day kitchen table game law, game must be finished by three days. She wants her kitchen back.
