    • RE: UK Factory In India

I only do the Allied wall (IC’s in Sinkiang and India) if I have a pick of National Advantages and go with Colonial Garrison and Chinese Divisions. Even with that help it is still hard to hold off Japan from India. Sending Russian reinforcements to India weakens them against Germany whom they are already way short against economically.

India for the Axis is alot like Africa for the Allies. If they want it they will have it.

    • RE: What's a Canadian Shield??

For an example of just how hard it is to take out DC, I had a game against Jen where she took LA on Japan 3. She did take DC in Round 9. Oh and Russia went bye bye before the Americans.

    • RE: Strategic Bombing?

I think SBR’s are a viable option as an overall strategy. I don’t like the occasional SBR when my Bomber has no target that turn as that always seems to lead to an AA hit.

Remember if you purchase bombers for an SBR campaign it is not carved in stone that they cannot participate in other attacks as needed.

    • RE: Always and Never

Put me down as another that disagrees with most of these ALWAYS and NEVERS.

For example I can’t even remember the last time I countered Egypt UK1.

Also I have strategies that are based on quite a few of those NEVERS.

    • RE: Antiaircraft hits - who decides casualty?

This is a difference between the out of box rules and LHTR.

The Box rules state that ALL aircraft are rolled for. LHTR breaks it down between bombers and fighters.

    • RE: Problems with transports and AA gun fire

Transport may carry one infantry and one other land unit. These units ONLY movement must be getting on and off the transport. Transports may move up to two spaces. Loading and unloading do not count as part of their movement with the exception that once they unload they are done whether they moved two spaces, one space.

You are correct on AA guns.

I would recommend downloading and printing a copy of the LHTR rules as they are less ambiguous than the box rules and clear up some problems in the box rules.

    • RE: Sea Unit Placement Question

What was ment is that a transport can move its alotted two movement spaces and then pick up and unload. An example would be a transport coming from seazone 36 off of French Indochina to seazone 60 off Japan and loading two infantry and offloading them to Buryatia.

    • RE: Japan Strategy

Australia and New Zealand add up to 3 IPCs that are rather remote and hard for the allies to liberate. In other words in most games once Japan has it it stays theirs.

    • RE: Any way Axis can win this game????

lets look at the ways Axis can win.

      1 Take out the US
      2 Take out the UK
      3 Take out Russia

1 Taking out the US is all but impossible except for rare circumstances so I would recommend forgetting about this other than learning what the rare circumstances are so they can be capitalized on.

2 Taking out the UK is vastly easier than taking out the US; however this can bee seen coming and requires Germany to invest in Naval units which can be countered by the Allies. Also other than taking the UK’s distant territories Japan is left out of this fight so again I would recommend this as a situational explotation.

3 Lastly that leaves us with what the majority of the games are, Axis elimination of Russia.
That means that smashing Russia flat is the Axis’s primary concern. Grabbing Africa and scattered territories are entirely secondary. Protecting non-vital Axis units and territories is also secondary. With that in mind invest no more in Africa than it takes to eliminate the UK units in Egypt that need to go round one. If Germany can grab extra African territories on round 2 great, if not don’t worry about it. Both German fleets are weak and time is against them. I would recomend getting what you can out of them and then writing them off.  So on round one Germany purchases land units for Russia and Japan purchases transports to send 8 units from Japan per turn to the main land. Once Japan has this set up then they can spend the resources to expand to the far flung territories but do not loose site of what the goal is smash Russia as fast as possible.

Anywhere from 3 to 5 hours so I went with the high figure.

    • RE: UK opening strategy

I would recommend consolidating ALL UK Pacific/Indian naval units in SZ30 and I would also leave the 2 infantry behind in Australia. In my opinion doing otherwise invites a Japanese sinking of SZ30. The loaded transport would be worth a strafe at the minimum. Also by leaving the 2 infantry in Australia it forces Japan to bring more units to an area they can do very little from.

    • RE: US Pacific Strategy

I will have to try the 2 CV round one approach. My concern would be a lack of a BB hit early on .

I think the real beauty of the dedicated purchase is that it allows to go ahead and fight the battles earlier where you DO take losses to the Japanese. Your losses are already being replaced and if Japan is buying Navy that is pressure off Russia.

Two battleships and two transports can also be a tempting target for Japan and we all know how well the Liberty ships defend never might the tips.

    • RE: US Pacific Strategy

As to the original question a Battleship and carrier first turn followed up by a Battleship, transport and 2 Infantry the following turns can get real annoying for Japan real quick. Depending on how the starting US ground forces are used a sub can be substituted for a transport early.

    • RE: Possible to make Western USA Fall?

Yes you did in our first league game. In my defense I was in a bit of a hurry to post my turn, I also had a bit of target fixation going on with what I wanted the US to do in that game. I should have listened to the voice in my head that kept screaming buy ground units. I figured my units in place would hold which they almost did and again I was entirely too focused on the Naval aspects at the time.

No biggie it was a fun game and probably the strongest UK I have had in a game.

    • RE: Possible to make Western USA Fall?

For the reasons Jen and Bunnies posted above the southern route is better. The northern route is too obvious and takes to long to set up with the amount of forces needed to do anything against the western US.

      What no Motorhead?

And if we are going to bring up Punk, Fear and the Plasmatics are missing as well. Black Flag got mentioned but I will bring them up again.

Krocus did some good stuff in the '80s. Accept also did some of their best stuff then as well. And least I forget Hawkwind had some good LPs in the '80s but I have yet to hear a bad one from them.

    • What's your ride?

Whats your ride? I used to be a big car nut back when I was younger and dumber. Currently I have 1970 Ford F100 Ranger. 300ci I-6 and a Borg-Warner T-18 4 speed (granny low). Its nice having a tank that can walk over a soccer mom piloted SUV and still gets low 20 mpgs.

    • RE: Favorites

HMMWVs replaced the Jeeps, trucks and (shudder) Gamma Goats.
Bradley’s were to replace 113s but couldn’t fulfill all the roles. And I wish I could remember some of the Jodies we had about its swim capabilities.

As far as the  list of officers how about “Bull” Halsey"? Quite a bit more tenacious than his service contemporaries.

My grandfather spent most of the war under MacAurthur and could not stand him for what thats worth.

    • RE: Former pastor Jeremiah Wright and Obama the Grey

I wouldn’t exactly say that snopes link is a slam dunk for your case there Jermofoot. So what if some misinformed mouthpiece thinks its out of date, the Flag Code hasn’t changed. What has changed is knowledge of such that used to be taught in school. Senator Obama appears to be around my age and should have learned proper respect for the flag and anthem in elementary school. As a candidate for Commander-in-Chief he should KNOW the proper action to take during the national anthem.

    • RE: Presidential Election (as a current event- watch the tone or it's gone)

It will not be until their convention in late May until the Libertarian candidate is announced. Right now Wayne Allyn Root is leading in funds raised and probably has the best name recognition of the potential candidates.
