I see no reason for Germany to have to tolerated repeated CA bombardment invasions. Bombers cost the same as a cruiser but hit at one better. When not cleaning the seas the bombers can keep England’s ears pinned back with SBR’s or used on the Russian front.

With the reduction in price for bombers the only reason I can see to buy a fighter over a bomber is for defense or on carriers which is again mainly defense.

    • RE: Rules: on N.O. UK AA gun on Soviet territory

AA guns CAN change ownership. For the mentioned AA gun to change to Russian control it would first have to be captured by an Axis player and then the territory would need to be liberated at which time it would go to Russian control.

Yes, look in my game with EM it is several pages in. This module is correct for both '41 and '42 also the map is correct as I verified it against my physical game board.

It has little to due with aptitude and a whole lot more to do with luck of the dice. Germany got diced in Ukraine by 1 Russian infantry. Said Russian Infantry stepped forward into an unoccupied  Bulgaria for the NO. The Russians will not have the NO after the next turn. Just because Russia gets that NO it does not mean they are sitting there drawing it for turn after turn.

Not necessarily. In my current face to face game Russia has that NO but is in bad shape. Germany does not always have all the infantry it would like to cover the expanded frontline.

Look at the Russian card that came with the game again Jenn. If I am not badly mistaken it says Allied control. Just checked the boardgame geek thread with the pictured of the set up cards. Word for Word:

Gain 10 IPCs if Allied powers control at least three of the following territories: Norway, Finland, Poland, Bulgaria/Romania, Czechoslovakia/Hungary. and/or Balkans.

I will take the Allies if that’s ok. That way I know I am playing against someone who has already worked out the capabilities of the Axis. Plus I think we are all going to have to develop some strats for the Allies, right now from what I have seen they are just fodder for the Axis Juggernaut. Start the game when ready EM.

I don’t use triple A but seazones 6 and 7 do connect to North West Europe. The early Abattlemap map file had this incorrect.

Carriers also keep Japan “honest” in that with the consolidation of the two sea zones at Japan they now no longer have a “safe”  seazone to park unescorted transports in.

      @allies_fly:

Yes, you buy one in 1941, put it in Caucasus.  It can reach manchuria or borneo SZ, landing in australia.  Note you also need the Russian 7 inf in buryatia too

Ok I got ya. It can reach the East Indies not Borneo. Not a big deal for Japan. I would still take Borneo and probably New guinea as well. The New Guinea transport can be sunk by the W. US bomber (land Australia) or the fighter off the SZ44 fleet, which will have to move up to recover the fighter. This means either the fleet is position where I can strike it on rd 2 or there is another bomber that can go down with the rest of the Allied junk on Australia rd 2.

Honestly the more I think about, I would probably just hit E. Indies anyway. If the Russians want to trade a 12 IPC bomber for a 7 IPC transport, I will make that trade all day long. And the way I position myself on turn one means barring some outrageously bad dice, Australia is going down on turn 2 even if the US flies in the 2 fighters that can land in Australia.

      :?
where are the Russians going to park the bomber so it can hit Borneo? They would have to buy one in '41 and japan goes first in '42 so Buryatia may already be Japanese turf.

    • RE: Does technology influence the Chinese Fighter??? o_O'

Its listed that way on the set up chart because there is no specific Chinese fighter piece. I am using a P-38 from Revised just in case the dice gods feel sorry for it and let it live passed J1

Obviously after they have bought some  :-D

The games I have done this in are on the computer at my house where I don’t have internet so I can’t look at any battlemap files, but I think it was around round 3 or so. Again I equate this with the Axis in Africa. If Japan really wants China they will have China. However slipping a few Russian units that way can prevent an early shutdown of Chinese infantry and sometimes even expand a bit. Just the early infantry from Kazakh and Novo is enough to hold up the easy advance for the Japanese and prevent China from potentially not being able to even produce an infantry on round 2.

I also think this will be more effective early in the playing cycle of the game because I think too many people are trying to play the Axis like it is Revised or Classic. I just don’t feel the pressure with the Axis that I did in early games and I feel a slowdown of the Axis juggernaut could lead to some mistakes by overly hasty players.

Macro  I would like to play '41 NO’s and tech as the Allies. I have some things I want to test. Seeing how we just played if you want to wait on another opponent I understand.

Russia has to commit either a tank or a plane to this for it to work. It is also like Africa was in Revised if Japan wants all of China bad enough they will have. What you can do with the Allied wall is delay Japan some and make them work for that last little bit in China.

Ever considered Germany and Italy doing the bomber tag team on England? The Allies are not the only powers that can buy bombers.
