RE: Really need advise when playing USAposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I dont see the point in building lots of infastructure on the pacific board only…… Japan needs to take hawaii or sydney to win(after India falls), that being said you want stage from hawaii because from there you can hit carolines, go down and help anzac or hit the heart of Japan (Japan or Korea). Thus forcing Japan to keep a decient fleet in the homeland. More options for you + Less options for them = Win
That makes sense.

Really need advise when playing USAposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Pretty self explanitory title. This is for a Pacific game not Global, but it might apply to a bigger game.
Played a really nice game of Pacific last night, however after 7 rounds we called the game as a draw for the following reasons:
Japan did an India push on the first 4 turns. By the end of J4 China was gone off the map and India was pushed back, however Japan did not attack.
At this point I had used my first USA turn to build infrastructure for an attack. I put a Naval Base at Midway, and built up Alaska using it for my planes, and Midway for my Navy/Transports. I had a decent fleet with 8 transports loaded with troops.
I took out Japans northern fleet, dow to nothing.
ANZAC moved to help India, re-inforced some troops and fighters.
Japan took India finally, but with heavy losses, only 3 ground units and a dozen planes left and it’s southern fleet was taken out by ANZAC.
A few rounds later I was staged to hit Japan however didn’t feel I had enought, I made the decision to re direct to the mainland where Japan left only 3 infantry left. He had pulled out to try and take Australia to get the final VC.
With the prospect of both China and UK being in the game within 2 or 3 turns and no way to really stop it Japan decided to call it. I agreed that the game was basically reset but with out Japan resisence on the Mainland. Eventually all the extra IPC’s Japan had were going to be gone and they would be left stuck on the island and probably would have taken it, eventually but not without many more rounds.
Really need suggestions for USA on things to buy the first 3 rounds and how to more easily prepare an invasion fleet.
Thanks.

RE: When exaclty does the US enters at war&war time income questoinsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Yeah the income is from National Objectives. It is the same in Pacific, only there it is a flat rate increase, rather than being split into 5.

RE: When exaclty does the US enters at war&war time income questoinsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
@Gallo:
From the manual: if not yet at war, the US can declare war to some or all Axis Powers at the beggining of Collencting Income phase its 3rd turn.
Since the Collecting Income phase is at the end of the turn, that means the US can not start performing any hostile action (either combat movement, or non-combat movement that go beyond their pace time allowed movenments) until its 4th Turn.
Am I right about this?Correct.
@Gallo:
Secondly: the US starts cashing its war time income at its 3rd Turn collecting income phase (so it will have a lot of money to buy new stuff at the beggining of next turn (4th) when at full war). Am I correct
Correct
@Gallo:Thirdly:
how much $ does the US makes while not at war?
how much $ does the US makes when at war? When not at war 52 IPC’s.
When at war, the USA gets 77 right away, if they take some key islands right away that gets bumped to 82. However it Japan attacks Phillipines and Hawaii on J3 and takes them as an example USA will only start with 67.
@Gallo:If (say) at 3rd turn the US decides to declare war against Japan (but not Germany) or Germany/Italy (but not japan), I assume the US remains neutral bis-a-bis the powers didn’t declared war too… in such case: does the US claims all its income boost or only part of it. how much?
thanks in advance!
I think the when the USA declares it is on all, and they dont’ have a choice to stay neutral in one theatre. Some confirm this part.

RE: AAG40 FAQ Alpha+.2posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Alpha+.2 Rules
12. The United States Navy, while being neutral, has the following movement restrictions. It can only move to sea zones that are adjacent to US territories in the Atlantic (more specifically Sea zones 101, 89 and 64). US warships (not transports) may also conduct long range patrols into sea zone 102. In the Pacific it can only end naval movements in sea zones that are not adjacent to Japanese-controlled territories and islands. What does it meant by “conduct long range patrols into sea zone 102.”?
Attacks while neutral?
No, SZ 102 is adjacent to 101, no German ships are placed there in initial set up. I suspect that placing a fleet there might act as a buffer for a possible Axis eastern USA attack. Not being able to stage transports there puts USA 2 turns away from landing when at war. Also, you can’t end movement with units on transports if you are neutral.

I’m printing these out now and will be mounting them to thin cardboard. They will look like the AA50 charts when done. Thanks a bunch!
No worries. I went out and got a large black piece of picture matte, was $15 and a can of adhesive spray. They really do look great with a hard backing, should last a long time. (Assuming I don’t have to change them with more changes from Larry :) )

RE: If the U.K. declares war, can Japan enter the DEI - or is that a DOW on the USAposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Only if UK declares on Jap first right?
Cause if Japan takes DEI UK sees this as an attack on it, which in turn brings USA in……???

RE: 94Canuck's Global 1940 Alpha + 2 Setup Charts and Game Aidsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
but its fine if we dont share it with others right? because i modified your charts for private use and since i am the only one using it i know that most of the work was yours so im not passing it of as my own
That is my personal view. As long as someone isn’t passing them on to others claiming (or implying) them as their own work, I don’t have a problem with people modifying them.
+1

Thanks Bob, as I said they were inspired by yours, I have basically everyone you’ve ever done printed for my other games. Needed something to tide me over till you updated and these came out. Better than I had hoped, and you are right about the time invested. I started working on these the day after that Alpha 2 came out… what’s that a week ago now? I’ve spent probably 3 to 5 hours every day on them. I had to learn literally everything as I went which is why it took so long but now that they are templated I think I can update or modify them without much trouble.
Thanks for the sticky as well, glad you guys are liking them.

You need something a bit better than MS Paint for a PNG file I think. If you absolutely cannot figure it out I might be able to save you some .jpgs which will work in Paint. Try a free version of Photoshop :)

Could you use the same style and graphics, to make an chart for the RULES updates?
That addendum is REALLY required aswell :S
Excellent work!
I will add it to the list. Trying to think of a good way to present them on a chart. There is a lot there. I’ll see what I can do.

Hello everyone, seems like there have been a ton of Setup Charts and Game Aids that have come out in last week or so since Alpha + 2 was released. I normally wait for Bob Mickelson’s charts since they are very well done, however he has stated he won’t be updating his Global charts until the rules are finalized. Not wanting to wait I decided to try my hand at making some of my own. As you can tell these are clearly inspired by Mickelson’s charts, however I didn’t use any of his material before people say I stole his stuff :) I scanned all my textures and images from my own AAA games and created the templates from scratch. Now, since since is the first time I’ve ever attempted such a thing outside of MS Paint I am really happy with the outcome.
I decided to take a simplistic approach to the aids. I always disliked how to many things were jammed into one chart so I tried to keep it simple.
For the setup charts they are just the units, and meant to be put away once set up. I hated how you had unit info charts on them that were really small and forced you to keep the bulky setup charts with your boxes so I split that up as well. I made a full page IPC tracker up to 88 which still might not be enough when the USA gets to full speed. I did a full page NO, with the multiples noted to stack markers rather than make a ton of extra spaces. I also hated how the Tech chart was part of the other ones so I split that off as well. Since you won’t play with Tech all the time you can take it out as needed and store it if not. I didn’t make a battle board since Mickelson’s is perfect IMO the way it is.
I’ve read through each of them a number of times so there should not be anything missing in the setups, nor noticeable spelling errors :D
Lastly, all of these have been designed around a 8.5 x 11 (Letter) size so no funky paper needed. I printed out a full set on an old Epson Photo printer and they look MINT so I hope you all enjoy them. Any suggestions please post here as I’ve saved them in layers so future updates shouldn’t be that time consuming… hopefully.
One more thing, don’t use the photobucket files, they are reduced use the mediafire links below.

RE: First thoughts on Alpha 2.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I dont’ really mind it, I actually kinda like it. It seems to put Axis more together if I think about it long term, especially the first 4 rounds where Russia isn’t attackign (assuming you don’t declare war as Axis)
After round 1 France is dead so Italy, Germany, quick Russia, Japan. Then all the Allies, and repeat.
Doesnt’ seem that bad at all.

RE: Alpha+.2 Retro themed Global 1940 Chartsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
These are nice and thanks for the effort. Personal opinion is that there is too much info jammed onto one card. Set up, turn order, tech, VC’s. turn sequence, unit stats. Over load for me lol. But they look sharp.

RE: Bob_A_Mickelson's AAG40 National Production/Objectives and Setup Chartsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
The files are locked, can’t modify the layers. I have been working on my own, not as fancy as Bob’s, and I wouldn’t give the source files out. I can’t imagine the time he has spent on these, I think that is a pretty unreasonable request.
