Hello again!

After a very long time away from Axis and Allies I have started to get back into the game. The last time I played Alpha + 2 was out and I am still on my first edition games for 1940. I had considered replacing them, though after looking at the pricing again, decided not to. Given that I can play the second edition games with my FE with some new setup charts I figured it was a bit of waste of money. Sure there are fancy new AAA gun molds and a couple minor tweaks to the map but not a big deal for me.

I updated the charts I had made previously to reflect the new SE setups. Rather than define them as 1940 SE I just called them 1940 since that is the new base setup for the game. I created charts including an IPC tracker, NOs, Setup Charts, Game Aids and a Battle Board. They can be printed and affixed to some foam board which is what I do to give them a bit more stability. I created the same charts for the base Europe and Pacific games. The setup charts probably won’t help many people but for me I adjust the sizing to fit right on top of my FE boxes so for anyone in my position it will be an easy swap.

Rather than make 3 threads for the same thing I have all the links posted below. Download what you think you might need/use.

Just thought I would post this in case anyone might be interested in the future.  After adding the required pieces to change my first edition 1940 games to second edition (including replacing ANZAC/Italy completely) it worked out to be only $25 cheaper than the best price I found on purchasing the 2nd editions new.

Of course if you just got the AA guns and left the rest the same, it would be much cheaper.

Yeah I’ve been looking there.  I guess I’ll have to figure out what all is different, and how many of each I will need.

Does anyone know if Wizards, or one of the forum vendors (FMG, HBG, etc) sells an addon style package with the updated sculptures and additional pieces offered in 2nd edition?  I don’t want to have to purchase all new games, and it seems confusing which additional pieces I need to buy separately to make my old games the same as the new.

Yup that’s me.  Not sure what to say, other than nothing has shown up here ever.

It’s been 3 months since this post.  Still no order, still no refund.

Is 3.9 and the 2nd Edition set up the same?  I don’t want to waste time updating for one, and not the other.

I am way out of the loop on this game right now.  What is the most current, and used setup?

The last time I did the charts it seemed like they were changing every other day.  I’d like to do them and have it be finished.

Been MIA.  On holidays in Hawaii actually, JUST visited Pearl Harbour today for the first time.  Spent from 0900 to 1600 there today.  Very moving.  Reminding me to check this site, I see that that Alpha 3 is finally finished.  I will be updating all these charts when I return home from vacation.

So I downloaded the Pacific 1940 game and it buggered up my TripleA.

Everytime I open it, there is an error box that comes up, and the game doesn’t show in my program.

Any ideas?

Any word on this?  A TripleA 1940 would be decent.

Alpha + 3 Charts

For whatever reason my Alpha 3 thread hasn’t been sticky’d yet, so search for that instead of using the Alpha 2 if you want.  It is on the 2nd or 3rd page of threads.

I did mine to roughly match out of box.  I had them printed high quality, but not over glossy on a heavier weight photo paper for resilience.  I then affixed them to a cardboard style backing I got at a local craft store with some spray on adhesive, trimmed and that was that.  They are sturdy, and hold up well.

Haven’t used these one yet as I have no one local to play with right now where I live, but wanted others to have them as the rest of you aren’t trapped in the Arctic on an island with 80 other people. Lol.

Oh, I started a new thread rather than replace the Alpha 2’s in case anyone still wants them for some reason.  It should hopefully be sticky’d soon.
