      Good game.

      Yeah, I think I finally got playing the Allies down.  I like throwing a lot at Germany, but keeping Japan somewhat honest seems to be big too.
      I also like an aggressive Russia when possible.  I had simialer scenerios in my game with you, Gamer, and Zuck with Russia getting in position to threaten and take Blk.

      It’s funny I’ve had trouble with buying Ita fleet too.  I always miss the troops in Eu.

      Yeah, I’m ending this year on a good note.  :-D
      I got back into the game this year, tried some things and I think I have a good feel now.  I’m expecting a good run next year as well.  :-D

      Alright, that’s a good spot to call.  No need to drag this out any more.
      I was 99% sure you were going to Epl, and just had to see it.  I can hold Per or Ukr/Mos, but not both and once one falls the flood gates open for one of the Axis.

      You were definitely a victim of Mr. Dicey. I would definitely welcome a rematch when you get back. Have a safe trip…it was definitely a good game…Japan was becoming a monster and I simply got lucky in Germany. Maybe I will have learned how to play the Allies better by the time you return. I will update in the results thread.

      Does winning without your technologies coming into play count?

      Sure it does! I’m having trouble seeing how the axis have a real chance right now. Maybe I’m wrong?!?

      The Axis are currently winning a large majority of the games, regardless of tech or NOs.  Its widely believed that this will even out or switch eventually.  Though its still unclear, I suspect that NOs help Axis, who need money desperately, while techs help Allies, who have money but need something to turn that into tactical or strategic leverage, something they are very short of.

      The reasons why the axis have the advantage are the following:
      1. The Axis go first, whereupon they sink well over half of the allied fleet, and easily demolish a dozen territories on the first turn before they have a chance to regroup.
      2. Without a fleet, the Allies have to wait a turn or two before they can have a significant impact on Eurasia/Africa/Indonesia.  By that time, Axis will have conquered pretty much all of it except Russia and the fringe territories.
      3. Upon the end of turn 2 or 3, the Axis has as much or more money than the Allies.  While they are now spread out and vulnerable like the Allies were on turn 1, the difference is that the Allies still have to expensively transport troops in to attack, while the Axis do not.

      Keep in mind that if you are playing with NOs, by the end of Turn 1, Germany will have 50ish Income, Italy will have 20ish, and Japan will have 45ish.  By the end of Turn 2, that will go up to 55ish, 25ish, and 60ish.

      Yes, numerous times.  However, they all require Germany to be ultra aggressive in round 1, otherwise, Russia’s got way too many men to over come.

      Allot depends on the optional rules involved.

      Those who dislike 1941 for the imbalance should try a game without NOs.
      National Objectives really sway the game in the Axis advantage too much:  Give the axis too much money while taking away those dollars from the Allies…

      1942 is nice if Russia and UK can contain Germany, but that can be a very hard thing to do without some US help.
      USA can certainly go toe to toe with Japan in 1942.

      Yes and no, Stuka.  It would only make vetoing a budget a thing of the past, in other words, it would streamline the budget process.  But ONLY if the Congress decides to spend MORE then they get in taxes.  Bear in mind, if Congress decides to actually, don’t faint now, spend ONLY what it has without a deficit, then it only needs a simple majority and a signature instead of a super majority AND a signature.  Likewise, if the budget has no deficit, then a veto can still be over-ridden by a super majority.

      The whole idea is to make it SOO hard to go into debt that most times the country will operate above board.

      In fact, I’d like to see legislation that states that 10% of all taxes MUST be invested in local government or domestic corporate bonds. (Relatively secure, helps the country or countrymen.)  Eventually, the feds should have enough invested throughout the land that they will never need to tax the people again.

      Furthermore, that’s not so outlandish an idea.  Many governments domestically and abroad are buying mutual funds to supplement their income so they can ease the tax burden.  Why can’t the feds?

      When I play FTF I look at the units I am going to send into battle and then count my opponents units.  Just doing that generally gives me an idea of how the battle will turn out.  If I have any doubt about wehter or not I will accomplish my mission then I may not attack.  Most the time I know the approxiamate result of the attck based on experience.  Of course lucky rolls can change all of that.
