RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!posted in Marketplace
@CWO:
Honolulu with a little Pearl Harbor I am not familiar enough with the rest of the Victory Cities architecture to note famous landmarks there. I do know that Tokyo is next to a big volcano, Mt. Fuji I believe.
A torii would work nicely for Japan. RAKKASAN!

Regarding Pearl Harbor, I’m not sure. The other structures you mention are buildings (and very distinctive “postcard” ones) but Pearl Harbor was a whole naval complex (and one which the average person wouldn’t recognize). What about the Aloha Tower as an alternative?
How about the Arizona Memorial? Or are you looking for something that was in existence during WWII?

Thanks for the write up. Did you encounter any issues with the number of playing pieces?

RE: Wizard of the coast is sending out additional playing piecesposted in Axis & Allies 1914
Sent an email a couple of weeks ago. Got my pieces today in the mail. Jackpot!
Got for each country; two battleships, two subs, three cruisers, three transports, two planes, two tanks, five arty, six infantry, except for France, which got nine infantry. Also got 30 each of the light chips (30 lt blue, 30 lt red), and 10 each of the dark chips (same distribution). Think this will really make a difference.
Good luck to everyone else in getting your pieces, too. I feel fortunate.

RE: First Game - Allies in A Routposted in Axis & Allies 1914
@Tyberius:
This first game was completely by the book and included the RR. I know there are numerous fixes floating around on the boards but I wanted to play test the game on its merits, as it is, coming out of the box.
Here is how it went.
Round 1
US: buys three transports
Round 2
British troops then boarded American transports heading to Mediterranean. U.S. docked their fleet off the coast of Portugal.Round 3
U.S. moved into Mediterranean and plunked down more transports.I didn’t think any US forces or equipment could participate in any battles as an attacker before DOW.

RE: Larry Harris: Strategic Movements Mechanicposted in Axis & Allies 1914
Agree that this shouldn’t apply to ships.
As far as the US, how about wording this proposed change so that it is only available on the first turn AFTER your nation has been at war. Applies then to the neutrals, etc.
There’s no way a nation is not at war on one turn, and the next is conducting an attack around the globe the next. Not at least with WWI technology.
EDIT This also means nations that start the game at war can not use this movement until their individual turn 2.
