Please Help!

i like to play pacific 1940 2nd ed with my friend a lot but he always kicks my ass as the allies. both of us have the same amount of experience in the game having played pacific against each other about 3 times. every time i get bogged down in china due to the massive amounts of Chinese infantry, my navy gets destroyed by Americas in every single operation and and by the time uk gets to china and the anzac starts island hopping, its over. does anyone have any tips or strategy i could try out to help me or maybe a video that could explain how exactly i could try to pull off a victory? thanks :)

For India : The Big Hurt is coming for India, no question, every game. So how best to defend from it? ? ? ? I like to add one more AAA Gun for starters, and then add men. If you lose your airplanes in some foolhardy attack then the India defense will be a lot tougher, keep those planes alive!! There’s not to much navy that I personally would purchase, it always seems like a waste of money. If on the off chance Japan isn’t going to India (Don’t fall for a feint) then I slap on a few tanks and start rolling up the Burma Road. If somehow things are going really really well a Hong Kong factory isn’t out of the question. But for UK, capturable, valuable territories are hard to come by.

For Australia : If you can obtain your objectives early, you’ll have enough dollars to buy planes for the India Defense. A carrier in SZ57 can help this happen. You’ll be helping out the US who may come in with a swift strike force via Sydney. Don’t group your ground forces in the Capital. Your homeland defense force can hit all Australian zones from “South Australia”. Safe, Effective, Transportable.

For U.S. Northern Strategy : Alaska Factory is a must for the northern strategy to work. Your goal is going to be Korea and the destruction of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Get your objectives and deny your enemy his at the same time. Free naval/air bases are available in Caroline Islands. I use Manila as a point to cut off Japans Navy and lasso your pacific fleet up to SZ6 for the final series of battles.

For U.S. Southern Strategy : A Naval base in either Line or Johnston Islands is key. This’ll help you leap frog to Sydney and on to the D.E.I. and/or India. This is a slower stretegy but lets you get a lot more ships on the board before the battles start. An Australian naval base in West Australia or your own Naval base in Java does just as well. You can also halt at Line/Johnson Ils. and head West to take out Caroline and Keep your Phillipines army alive and ready for combat.

what i believed, the people i played against said japan could not take the territory since only a plane was in it and you could not shoot it…
they also said we had to have infantry attached to artillery to make it fire…and when i argued those points they called me a cheater

Air power alone cannot capture a territory, but it can eliminate all units in that territory without capturing it. At least one ground unit is needed to capture a territory.

Infantry and planes can shoot at each other without problem if they are in the same space.

Artillery can fire alone. However, it doubles the attack strength of an infantry if an infantry accompanies it. The artillery unit doesn’t represent only the equipment, it represents the equipment and the men who use it. Just as you wouldn’t need an infantry to “drive” a tank, the tank is self-contained with all the personnel needed to operate it.

If it takes 7 turns to take out India after a J1 attack, you or your opponents aren’t playing Japan correctly. It should fall on J3 or J5 at the latest. All these strategies about bleeding Japan of IPC’s via convoy attacks is amusing. The game should be over by the time anything is in position to attack the convoys in sufficient strength to hurt Japan.

we used the huge mainland IC tactic
but still, it should be possible to hold axis

Say you are planning a huge battle, but only have, say 3 Aircraft carrier. Can you still launch more fighter? (over 6) or can you only launch IF there is, at the moment of the attack, a place to land? (So in our example, since we only have 6 landing spot, we can only launch 6 to attack)

I’m pretty sure: you can only launch as many planes as would potentially have a landing spot at the end of the noncombat move phase assuming all units survived combat.  Even an CV that is entering combat can be considered a potential landing space for any fighter.  If one or more CVs do not survive combat, and there are more FIGs/TACs than what can land, then some of the aircraft will die for lack of landing area.
