When do you typically use Kamikazes?

Chinese AA gun, and swap 1 inf for art in Szec. Add NB to NSW, and move 1 ftr from NZ to Queens Swap Brits BB & cruiser, and move back 1 trp to India (maybe both trps)

I know you planned a J1 attack, but did it seem like there was enough on the table for Jap to warrant it. That’s why I’m thinking about leaving one trpt in Malaya so Jap can still nail some thing w/cruiser. J1 could still remove all but 2 allied tpts that way. What did UK do w/BB, sounds like you didn’t counter Jap at Java UK1 (to risky). Sounds like it was the backbone for the UK/Anz fleet near DEI, which would allow the US to maneuver better. I like giving the Chinese an AA gun. With all that available air power, it just seems right.

I don’t want to do to much right off the bat. Most of the above changes shouldn’t effect later Jap attacks too much. I’m starting to think that a total Pac reduction in air would be better then just reduce Japs, if you go that route.

I always use chips whenever I have more than 1 of that unit type in a space.

I also use blue chips for airbases and black chips for naval bases - easier to see on the board.

I’m not 100% sure about how Kamikaze attacks prevent shore bombardment during amphibious assaults. Can anyone please explain with perhaps an example? The manual merely states:

“A Kamiaze attack prevents a bombardment supporting an amphibious assault.”

This is extremely brief and, I believe, needs further clarification. I know that Japan may use her full quota of up to 6 Kamikaze attacks (even all against the same enemy surface warship) in the one battle, if she desires. Is it true that ONE Kamikaze attack prevents ALL Battleships and Crusiers from bombarding, or is it done on a 1 for 1 basis? By that I mean does each single Kamikaze only prevent 1 ship from bombarding? Say there are 3 bombarding ships and Japan can make 2 kamikaze strikes - are 2 of the bombardments cancelled whilst the 3rd may go ahead?

Also, I saw this question & answer come up at one point in the FAQ thread:

Does the answer here relate to my paragraph above, in that one kamikaze prevents ALL shore bombardment? I would really appreciate a clarification on how this all works, thank you.

Either ALL bombardment occurs (no naval battle) or NO bombardment occurs.  “A” bombardment does not refer to a single ship, but the entire group of ships firing their single round.

A single Kamikaze plane causes a naval battle in that seazone.  A naval battle eliminates the possibility of shore bombardment from that seazone.  period.

oh, and i forgot to mention, not only are kamikaze’s never seen, but America’s 2 okin/iwo NO is also never seen.  For the same reason.  You will never see either of these two things happen until the game is already lost for the japanese.

You never see US take Oki/Iwo because your buddies dont play USA correct, and this is also the reason nobody here know how to stop the J1 attack on India. Listen dude, in the real war USA never bothered to take Caroline nor DEI. US went directly for Oki/Iwo and build airbases on them, and they won the war. So that is why Larry made them NO island, he wants you to do the same, if you want to win.

I kind of like them.  They’re by no means a game changer, but since you don’t have to burn a plane, it’s like a free shot, so I don’t see how they’re a liability.

When I first opened this Christmas night, I almost dreaded playing after trying to decipher all of the China rules.  After the first play, though, I think they add to the strategy.  I’m just a casual player, but each time I play AAP40, I like it even more!
