Europe map

Meant One map only for a shorter game.was talking Europe, but have a few problems with Pacific concerning set up, especially
Vis a Vis missing Russian Inf. In pacific only Japan should not be allowed to empty Manchuria and Korea as Russia borders them. Played a friend who sailed his Us fleet to Australia on T2 , before my T3 DOW. Was legitimate, but I feel it should not be. I now accept T2 DOW is seen as all as best. Would like to see a clarification of stand alone NOs and starting set ups. Sorry if I sound unclear.

Also, In Aplha3 Russia gets +9IPC instead of the 2 units, regardless of their diplomatic status with Germany, and what territories they control.

I just checked the Alpha 3 thread again and did not see this rule on there.  Can you tell me where you found this?  Thanks

Can someone walk me through step by step how to do this? I clicked on the link and followed the instructions and it still didn’t work. I’ve played A&A Anniversary and A&A Pacific 1940 on this site before but for some reason the Europe 1940 map is not working. Thanks in advance!

Actually, I’ve just made a different variant.  Unlike the last version, this one uses only direct connections, without the need for some board-to-board crossovers to take two moves.

The positioning of Mexico was a problem that kept bothering me because, at first glance, it looks like the two halves of the country can simply click together because they’re the same size.  Then I compared the Global 1940 map to the Anniversary Edition map and I realized that, in Global, a vertical strip is missing from the middle of North America (which helps to explain why British Columbia and Ontario practically touch each other).  So the fact that the two halves of Mexico look as if they are connectable is just an illusion.  That’s why, in the new variant I made, I decided to extend the border of SZ 10 all the way to the land spur at the bottom left of Southeast Mexico: because there’s a missing strip of land between the two boards.  It’s a better match with the official rules too.

Comparing Global with the Anniversary map also highlighted for me just how big the difference is in the scales between the two halves of North America in Global.  Another thing I found surprising when I compared the maps was that the Global rules say that SZ 51 is adjacent to SZ 64, 65, and 66.  SZ 51 only takes up about 20% of the height of the map, while SZ 64, 65 and 66 add up to about 45% of the height of the map, so the Global rules connect two boards in a way that implies a huge height difference between the two sides.  In the new variant I made, I disconnected SZ 51 from SZ 64, so that the height difference wouldn’t be quite so extreme.

It is the case that…
There is a set of Pacifc Only NOs used for Pac40
There is a set of Europe Only NOs used for Euro40
And there is a set of Global Only NOs

The Global set includes only some from Europe and Pacific, and includes some that are “global only”

Interesting, yes… but I don’t think the similarity between the A&A game and Axis pact you reference is intentional. By that I mean it was a total coincidence. Taking into account all of the other errors in Pacific and previous versions, there is no way that the designers paid that much attention to detail. I bet it just looked like a logical place to split the board for them.

Yeah. I think they just split it where China ended, and that happened to be there.

Besides, 10 degrees is a large error.

Africa will be hard, but if you can get through Egypt and Med you will be able to slowly move on the British, but they have an IC in South Africa. Russia will be bigger so Germany could get a lot more countless territories and France will be a few, so they can build up, but if the US ever gets there they are rich

Can we combine this with A&A on a Colonial Diplomacy map and play global?
