If I remember correctly, you can’t build a Major IC in a foreign territory. I do agree, though, on the importance of the Caroline Islands.

I don’t know if it’ll help. Let’s say they take Sydney and also assume they took every mainland australian tt. Then, they would make 93 ipcs to the US’s 55. No need to continue the game

If they take Hawaii, they make 84 ipcs to the US’s 54 and ANZAC’s 15. No need to continue there either, when they have a 15 ipc lead

The most popular strategy I’ve seen involves a major complex in malaya and then pulling your navy onto Australia. Wouldn’t this give lots of time to attack japan with your navy and fortify Hawaii

Yeah, that’s kaufschick’s strat and why he think it’s broken. I’m not sure how he deals with threats to Z6 when his entire fleet is at Singapore. i guess he thinks they can Delay until Sydney falls

I too am new to the site, but have been playing this game for nearly 15 years. welcome to the family.

In regards to a pacific strategy I believe that China is a place for mis-placed agression. I dont think you need to advance more then 4 provinces in to China, taking Yunan, Hunan, Anhui, and Charhar. This reduces China economy by 1/3 and denies them their NO, it also keeps your units close enough to the coast to pull them back if they become needed else where.
The key to winning comes from taking and holding the southern resource area which include Maylay, Kwangtung, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Celebes, French Indo-China, and the Philipines. By taking this area you will double Japans economy and reach a parity with the US. Also, this area will put 2 more VC under your control, which are the objectives you need to win, and gain you some of your NOs.
From here its key to make swift work of India, throwing everything you can aginst them. The quicker this is done the beter (turn 4 or 5 ideally). Then you will be free to finnish of China at your leisure.

After that its really up to you. I like to go after the Anzac’s as taking their VC is harder for the US to take back. Best of luck, hope this helps

Do you mean half of 57 or half of 17? If it’s half of 17, that’s a greater disadvantage to the allies.

I think it was obvious that it was a misprint on the map. There is only a little snippet, the second I saw it I knew that was not right.

China is irrelevant.   J1 attack takes away so much $ from the UK / US with territories and bonuses that the US +40 is really a +20 or so net, and who cares about the US being able to buy a carrier extra that isn’t going to be anywhere important for 2 turns?

I will be buying online after Christmas. As for supporting my local game store…They want 90 bucks for the game. Amazon wants 60. I would happily pay 90 or more for a reprint of anniversary (which I missed out on) but based on what I have read online this game, while it looks like a lot fun, isn’t up to snuff with no IPCs, a lack of pieces, and rule book that is filled with errata and misspellings.  The main reason I am considering this game is to combine with upcoming europe (I don’t think a reprint of AA 50 is really coming based on posts here and at WOTC).

I have good collection of navy minatures which might help with the lack of tac bombers…not really sure yet.
