No one is quitting, however, what you run into is India falling on J3, leaving the US with 127 IPC’s worth of builds to catch up to Japan, which really isn’t a huge amount. So then China is isolated and the bulk of Japans airforce flys to one of the DEI or the Phillipines and controls the area along with Japans fleet. Japan is likely out producing the US along with having more land/air strength to boot. Against two fairly evenly matched players this is a huge disadvantage to overcome.

pretty sure by “occupy” to get the 5 IPC one time deal you have to have boots on the ground, not planes in the sky.

Yes, you must do it at the beginning of the Combat Move phase.

So my understanding is “Declaring War” is a separate step in the turn sequence done before Combat Move, since it is not necessarily done in combination with any combat move but applies to all combat moves.  If the is true, this distinction would also keep a player from being able to decide whether or not to declare war (for the sake of convoy raids) after he/she sees the outcome of his combats with other powers (e.g. having retreated into convoy zone of a power with which one is not yet at war).  I’m guessing this is all true?  Thanks for your answers Krieg!

PS- speaking of declaring war as it’s own step in the turn sequence reminds me of an episode of The Office (American) when Michael steps out into the office and shouts “I declare… BANKRUPTCY!”  :-D

If Japan attacks UK, Anzac, or Us units when not at war she will have to fight all three. If Japan is already at war with UK/Anzac then she can choose to ignore the US units if not already at war with them.

The state of war commences at the beginning of the combat move so Japan will have to engage the war ship first.

Moving the Battleship can help some but if Japan is really determined to get the UK and Anzac ships she will. It should be possible to combine them all with the US fleet by turn 2 though (move from West Us-Pearl turn 1 and then Pearl to Queensland turn 2. So much depends on what Japan choose to do though. It is a little overwhelming at times.

It is especially overwhelming when public enemy number one is not an opposing player but a three year old convinced he is Loki. :P.

Since they happen on two different turns, they can do both.

Ok so we played only two games, one I was Uk the other Japan. The first one was a J3 attack and the other one a J2.

I don’t think I have enough experience to talk high, but don’t anybody thinks that it is better for the Brits to go to Dutch New Guinea, giving its ANZAC colonies some money these need to have some transports and, using Australia as a shield, moving around it and trying to harass Japan around the ‘money islands’? Uk and ANZAC have to buy time for the USA to come in, and if Japan has to recapture one of his islands again just because some peskering Australians came in with a transport or destroyed part of their fleet with subs, it will get the job done. The ANZAC’s transport is, in my opinion, extremely important. This is what could annoy the Japanese in Indonesia in the 3rd and 4th round, giving some time for the USA to come.

But of course, all this depends on the Japanese.

Yes playing by myself is a real bummer, trying to find people in my area “Nashville”.  Good new is my son and my son-in-law both will be moving here some time this year.  Until then I have no choice but to play myself.  The good news is I win every time.  The bad is news is I loose just as many……
