Thanks Panther that is what I thought.
China and what should be done with it
-
Okay then, A +1 to you.
-
I think the turn order in the global game will be similar to AA50(41)
Germany
Russia
Japan
UK/Anzac & France
Italy
US/China
Your going to want Germany & Japan to go early as they were the aggressors. Every game I remember Russia goes pretty early. I can’t see them going after Italy. I don’t think you would want G & I to take their turns before Russia, to much of a double team.Anzac may or may not be its own power in the global game. (most likely not)
France won’t make much of an impact after the first couple rounds, or until some one liberates them. The UK player will likely take over their navy and other units anyway.
Russia and the US won’t be able to attack early on, they’ll just buy units and move into position. China will likely have its role reduced and take its turn with the US again. -
France shouldn’t even get a turn since they didn’t do anything, except when they decided that they were
going to be traders and join the Axis. -
but you have to understand the political climate at the time. France was a nation divided, its what made them fall, and its what made many french join the germans.
-
Like I said, skip their turn.
-
Well you will be skipping their turn if Germany does what it is supposed to do and crushes them early. After that the UK just uses whats left. It will all fall to those evil dice. Just hope the UK player that will be rolling for France doesn’t get lucky at the same time the German players luck turns south :x

I think france had a navy. and french are in africa, ready to cause an annoyance to the Italians
-
The French fleet is a big question in AA40. Historically it was like the 4th or 5th largest navy in the world. It was very modern, although its capital ships didn’t have the tonnage, due to restrictions of the time. Much of it was destroyed by the Brits (July 1940) or scuttled by the French (Nov 42) to keep it out of axis hands. Parts of it were incorporated into allied fleets. A few ships were used by the axis. I wonder if the axis will be allowed to make an attempt to secure the French fleet in this game, or at least part of it.
I believe Larry said the UK player would most likely control the French units, including the navy. This and the fact that he also said Vichy would not be represented in the game leads me to believe that set up will reflect only about a 1/3 of the French fleet if that much and control granted to UK once Paris falls.
It would be cool however (even as a house rule) to roll a dice for each French ship on the board at the time Paris falls. 1-2 axis; 3-4 ally; 5-6 scuttle it (remove from play) or something along those lines. -
I think the easiest way to keep within the structure of the game is to allow the French units to stay on the board and be controlled during France’s turn, when they die off then that is it until Paris is liberated, hopefully.
-
There needs to be a Vichy rule.
-
And what does this have to do with China.
-
There is a blue territory right next to china. French indo china I think. but the previous posts…idk
-
Yeah I think we need to get back on topic or Aldertag is going to get us.
-
Watch he will globe you!
-
Actually did you see the territory above China ( mongolia I believe) its all broken up! That leads me to beleive that you might be able to sneak through it to get to chinese territories! or that its going to have a bunch of infantry to discourage you from going into it.

As far as turn order Russia must absolutely go after both Germany and Italy, to remove the stupid can opener tactic in AA50 41 that keeps Russia from doing anything but defending her factories.
I think it would be better if all countries on both sides went at the same time. This would allow combined assaults and remove stupid crap like can openers.
-
Whats a “can opener” strategy? I have never heard of that
-
Yeah, What’s the can opener strategy?
-
Can opener is when Italy moves in before Germany. Italy “opens” a weakly def tt (takes it and holds it) which will allow Germany to blitz tanks (and mech inf) through to hit Russia on its turn. This method would also allow you to take tt with Italy then move in with your German ground and air units for better def w/air. You can “can opener” with any friendly power, but Italy/Germany seem to work very well together.
-
Of coarse if Russia went between Italy and Germany (as it does in AA50"42")then it could stop it normally. Then Germany would have to “can open” for Italy which won’t be as effective.
