Allegedly aa42 released

Thanks.  I have this one.  I didn’t know if anybody had one that Wizards put out or anything.

Maybe I’ll scan a color one tomorrow and pass it around.

The map look of the map is great, the chip amount is frustrating, but over all this is a good game. Buy it.

The map look is good but because of almost invisible German borders and the lack of space in European territories the playability is bad.

Like it was said above, if you have Revised and Anniversary just download the ruleset and play it with Revised map and AA50 pieces. The map changes are minor (2 almost useless islands, Formosa and Iceland, and a few changes to North America).

Using the marshaling cards from Revised or making your own will take care of the space issue. So far I am enjoying the game with my 2 sons.

Therefore Saltz, keep that in mind in your strategies.  Always, I MEAN ALWAYS, have enough infantry fodder to bring to battle.  This is an economic war as much as anything.  If you keep losing tanks and planes on hits because you don’t have enough ‘fodder infantry’ to throw to the wolves you will surely lose your battles.  Unless of course your opponent’s buys are the same as yours.

Hey, there’s an idea.  Have a war with no infantry or artillery.  See how that works out.  Might be fun, never know.

So, as I see, you lightened up the Seazones a bit. What did you do with the .pdn to do this? Did you only modify the “Layer 25” or is there anything else behind it?
I am just asking because you did not update the .pdn.

Hmm, I don’t really remember… Tinkering with the brightness of the sea zones and the sea shade layers. And changing the blending options of the sea shade layers (overlay or normal instead of multiply, or adjusting the opacity)… Tried a few things 'till it looked right  :-D

and if aa42 were aa50-where japan does often get pretty large, then that might not be such a big issue…but '42 is supposedly to be more like AAR, where japan wasn’t exactly godzilla running amuck…

to judge the actual quality of the components in deciding which to play based on that, we have to wait for the release.

variety…perhaps, speed of play…maybe, can’t get AA50…sure

…one can drink too much so as to turn off one’s date as they get vomited upon…
