Which game is most balanced?

Regarding Ships. Ships are organized by size/cost. The more the ship costs the bigger the size of the mold/unit is.

The two that are hardest to distinguish is the cruiser and destroyer. The destroyer is the cheaper of the two, and therefore also the smaller of the two.

If you are confused - just line up one of each type of all the ships somewhere off to the side, so you can see the differences.

The optional rules of Revised were ridiculous. I mean, every allied country had decent rules (and UK having probably the best with free IC and Joint Strike), and the Axis probably had the worst. Kamikaze anyone? :)

To be more historically correct, maybe the rules were correct. But I have to agree with the post of another member. If we were to do a historical game, we would have to take into consideration the attack/defense of every unit in the game, which would make the game far too complicated.

If one wants to play with joint strike, he should do so in in-house game

In the light of day I understand you better now, and it’s right that you can calculate your defences/attacks better in LL, so you will end up using lesser resources for “just in case” or “just to be sure” situations. And ofcourse, if there’s a huge pile of trns on a “just enough to keep 1 DD left” fleet, someone made a mistake, because you have to calculate your losses if things go wrong in too. It’s like a 30% chance to take Ger with UK, no one would doubt about that, since the potential gains far outweigh the potential losses, thus tilting the average gain in your direction. That aspect is still in LL though, be it less severe (it’s a question of adding 1 DD instead of 1 BB “to be sure”).

From my short experience with the greatest war game of all time, the 1941 version is very well balanced, while the 1942 version is more in favor of the Axis. I advise anyone who loves a good long war game to buy it.

I have found it’s still very difficult for Germany to survive if Russia, Britain and USA team up.

The primary reason for this is the difficulty in sustaining a German navy.  Even at 6 IPC each, subs are expensive when you need to buy tanks and fighters every round.

That being said, I won my first game playing the Axis.  I was aided by my opponent’s poor play as he ignored Japan.  My Japanese units conquered Western USA, Central USA, Mexico, Western and Eastern Canada and it was over.
