Where to download the game with out the cd?

Ok, so if I corrected all the mistakes I made in my first PBF game with you, we should see the second game created HERE!

It was 1990, I was 18 years old… I moved to the big city of Toronto and my new friends were gamers who played Risk all the time. I quickly got bored of it and was looking for an alternative game I could introduce to them and I saw on the store shelf Axis & Allies from Milton Bradley “a game of high adventure” and “decide the fate of the world in just a few short hours” (lol). Unfortunately we were all pretty hammered by the end of the night and the only thing I remember of my first game was punching out all the plastic pieces from the plastic stencil racks and all the roundels from the cardboard sheets. it was an instant hit with the whole group and I played it with them religiously for up to 2 years until I moved back home to Peterborough. I brought my game with me and it wasn’t long before I hooked some old high school friends to it, and over the next 8 years I played Classic edition even more than I did before. After that in 2000, I moved back to Toronto where I discovered Spring 1942, then A&A Anniversary edition and finally Global 1940… ironically, I met someone from that first group from the early 90’s almost 20 years later, we accidentally bumped into each other online and we have been playing 1 on 1 1940 Global games every month for the past 5 years.

I agree that it sucks to lose 2 or 3 vital and expensive planes to FlaK in one attack, but since my FlaK usually never hits at all, it kinda makes up for it when it happens to my opponent.  :lol:

I was thinking that there was a set of 6 cards; 1 through 6, and for every enemy plane that flew over the gun you randomly drew a card, (for every set of up to 6 enemy planes that fly over). Then turn over the cards, if the 1 card is there, you got a hit!
An example of an attack of more than 6 planes
  8 planes fly over/attack: the first 6 planes suffer an auto hit, because you would draw all 6 cards
    for the last two planes, shuffle the deck and draw two random cards, if the “1” card is drawn,  you got a second hit!

Wow a whopping six votes. Hold on I want to make sure I counted right. (don’t want a recount demanded).

I kinda thought thats how it would play out. But I do think that Agent orange makes a good point. Then again I suppose I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a game.

Hello fellow gamers!

I was just wondering if somebody experienced this problem:

I run Axis & Allies on a 1300Mhz computer with 4MB video RAM (Windows XP). It should be more than fast enough.

However, during play the graphics keep slowing down 'till everything is very, very painful. I’ve tried running it in W95 compatibility mode and updating the drivers for my graphics card, but nothing seems to help. Again, when starting the game everything is fine, but it gradually “freezes”.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Thanks for the info! Yeah I also suspected maybe the download link went bust after .mac turned into a pay site. I like your thinking with your awesome offer to host the existing alpha version again though. Hmm, I wonder why the author didn’t just go oh cool… here ya go. Well hopefully someone that snagged that alpha download will peek in here yet… hopefully. If you have the ability and desire to host… we really need to get you a copy of that file somehow! The website states the Mac version sports over 75 different units… 75! Yes, this I have to see and play. Anyway, I really appreciate your follow-up. I will give your A&A Terminal hack a try the next time I boot into OSX. Thanks! ~BumaTank

Save it manually? LOL Yes, that’d be a bit tedious.

Unfortunately, I’m still stuck with the same problem, and re-installing the game hasn’t helped any. Does the A&A folder have a seperate sub-folder for saved games?
