Ya but every thing is raised +1 across the whole game for AD
So far Allies 3-2
But should be 4-1. Axis had 1 tank in coast city. Allies Didn’t bring enough troops.
It was nice had allies attack St. lo on T4 or 5
Added a few pieces to setup. 3 extra paratroopers and a few tigers late on card and AD@5 I think M1 only. Moved 3 block houses off coast on upper left side of map and put in 2 more against big US beachhead and other one against other US beach head.

Well, no one is bullying anyone that I have seen.

Its more over-strategizing each round, seemingly inviting discussion for each combat operation by allies.

Not discounting valuable advice from your allies which we all seek, my view is that this level of co-ordination in-turn each round takes away from individual play and is time consuming. For me, something challenging may be lost when allies overly depend on other’s impute on each strategy.

In the end, each player controls the country so at some point individual play is necessary.

If you use the same logic you should get rid of the Japanese NOs for Calcutta, Hawaii and Sydney. Not sure I like that change.

That would actually help Allies a fair bit and also keep peace between Germany and USSR for longer on the average. Would more peace make the game better? I’m not sure that it would. It would increase the number of Sea Lions though - perhaps that would be good.

Yes and no. It would be crazy if Japan can squeeze 5 more IPC out of a rocky island than the original owner can. But, if we change the words in the rule, and say that anyone who control Hawaii island and the adjacent seazone 26 with its convoy zone, will get a 5 IPC bonus, representing international trade with South America or something. Do the same with Sydney and seazone 62, and now I can endorse it, man. Now it makes sense to me.

About your other topic, the possibility of longer time of peace between Germany and its partner in crime, Russia, who knows man ? The current OOB NOs sure reward aggressive play, since Germanys choice between a 5 IPC peace NO dont catch up with the 15 + wartime NOs. But, the OOB NOs also make it a scripted game, but not a historical correct scripted game, since in the real war Germany first had to try a Sea Lion before it would attack Russia. Now, since the designer obviously want a lot of action, and not a sit and wait game, he trough in a lot of NOs to speed up the pace. And that is why we can see everything that happened from 1939 to 1941 in the first Turn of any A&A game. But if you ask me, I think its too many NOs in play, it should be max 3 to each nation, and they should represent something abstract like international trade, shipping, oil etc that is not already printed on the map. Actually there are no need for NOs, you only need Victory Cities to win. If Germany want to win the game, it should attack Russia because of the VCs there, not some derogatory NOs.

IMHO, NOs only have a meaning in this game if they are a part of some bidding system.

Increasing the peace time economy with russia (10 IPCs for both) while giving the wartime Leningrad +5 bonus NO to Russia, can give a better balance toward allies while giving more incentive to attack UK early and Leningrad later, to block the new russian income.

I would highly, highly recommend going “Three-Turns per Round”.

Axis Powers go first.

Then, Russia & China go.

Finally, Allies go.

If you have 8 players that know what they’re doing, this makes a very intense G40 game happen in about 7 or 8 hours.

Axis and Allied forces can attack together.  Russia may not attack with Allied forces.  China also may not attack together with Allied forces.

I love this game and I appreciate the work the game designers put into it.
I was looking at a way to speed up the game and I played “all throws are hits.”
Did it once with No Mines Option and once with All Mines Always Hit Option.
This was a lot of fun and it forced me to rethink some buying strategies and maneuver strategies.
FYI, Allied Powers start with 161 ground units (169 when US enters) and 23 ships (25 when US enters).
Central Powers start with 176 ground units and 12 ships.

I would like to see a deluxe version of AA42 that has all the goodies in it like Revised.  :)

This is a great idea, i have alwasy thaught axis and allies could be a great free for all game(within some hitorical limits) like risk and diplomacy.

now with this edition they have a starting date where that might makes sense

I still have yet to aquire my copy of AA50, but when I do i am definently playtesting this

I was thinking how unhistorical it would be for England to let Japan take the pacific in exhacange for attaking the US so Britian could use them sooner.

but on second thought, I think Winston Churchill is as quoted saying immeditly after Peril Harbor “We have won the war”

It isn’t that unbleivable is it, British agents influenced or paid off the Japanese High Command

if that did happen was that even wrong? if anything American pasifism and isolation was right

of course it is riduclous, the Japanese had every resaon to attack the US
which is why their should be some japanese running out of resources rule

but it is cool idea’s like this that would make this variant really enjoyable

I agree.  The decreased cost of FIGs in Revised made BOMs less important than they were in Classic.

In Classic, you could add 33% to attack power for just 3 IPC (25%) increase in cost… a good deal.  In Revised the BOM is still 33% more attack power, but is now 50% more in cost, AND one less unit…  a BAD deal.
