Quality of the units

Since there was no sea battle in sea zone 12 and the destroyer did not participate in the amphibious assault, it did not participate in combat and is therefore free to move in noncombat movement.

I was wondering if anyone could post the starting setup for each of the countries in the anniversary edition?  It’d be really nice if there was a good copy of the originals that I could print out as cards like in the game itself.

I only have the original version and would like ot try the anniversary with ILs enlarged map.

Well, you guys might be missing something here.  You do not need to agree that the game is imbalanced, or have a consensus on what bid is necessary to balance it, to have a consensus on what I am talking about.
Example: Person A may think the game is already balanced and that a bid is not necessary, Person B thinks an Allied bid of 6 ipcs is needed when you play with NOs, and Person C is nutty and thinks that 21 ipcs are needed for the allies with NOs.  But all of these three people may in fact agree that a bid of 2 infantry in europe would be equivalent to a bid of 2 naval warships off the coast of america.
Agreeing on what to do to balance the game is not a pre-requisite to agreeing on certain bids types being equivalent.

Or, to think about it in a different way, lets think of this as a Ratio.
I’m just going to throw this out there, but lets say you have a Bid of X.
If you use it on the “front line” in either Europe or Africa/MiddleEast, then all you get is X.
If you use it not on the front line in Europe/Africa/MiddleEast, or you use it on the front line in China, then you get X1.5
If you use it not on the front line in China, or you use it in the Atlantic on Navy, UK main island Air/Land, then you get X2
If you use it on Pacific navy, or American Continent Land/Air, then you get X*2.5.

Now, as you can see, if you think X should be zero, then they all end up as zero.  If you think X should be 6, then you could either get 2 europe/egypt inf, or 3 chinese inf, or a cruiser in the atlantic, or a DD + a sub in the pacific.  If you think X should be 10, etc, etc.

The land units may not be offloaded in the same turn that the transports retreat.  This is covered on pages 21 and 31 of the rules.

I almost always buy a bomber a round for Germany starting turn 2.  They are great for threatening Moscow, even when in Germany, threatening allied fleets, and if they got nothing else to do I do enjoy bombing Brittan.

Its the allies I hate buying them for, even though they are still incredibly useful, every bomber UK buys is one less cruiser or transport.  You must be very careful not to ‘overbuy’ bombers as the allies.

That makes it a lot easier to block ICs from producing sea units, Sea Zones 5, 56, and 62 in particular.  More importantly, it makes Subs more effective at blocking those zones, because they get to use their higher attack value, and also be reinforced by air/naval units.

Another situation would be if Germany put a sub in each sea zone around the UK.  If Britain puts a Destroyer in each zone to counter, then Germany sends its airforce, while using the Subs as fodder.

my strategy only really helps the Russians if  you’re not using NO’s it can buy be pretty effective if the Russians and Brits work well in concert and if you own the Baltic.I know some people send fighters but your basically shelling out 1/3 of your income on 1 unit that is probably gonna die. What I do is buy 2 inf 1 art and 1 tank which is a fairly powerful force for less than the cost of 2 fighters.

i would choose 1 bship 2 cruisers and 3 destroyers

I think the perfect fleet would be 1 Battleship, 2 Carriers with 4 fighters, 4 cruisers, 4 destroyers, 8 subs and x trannies (depending of what ocean you are in) against an enemy fleet of 2 subs and 6 trannies. This is my kind of numbers, if I am going to attack anybody.

Trannies dont protect anyone no more they are fish in the sea that now need to be defended or a free kill yes!
