Transports in combat

It was just a way to conveniently organize the rules, plus it keeps the resolution of the sea and land battles for each assault together.

It would be really nice for Italy though if you cold use that German transport in the Med this way.

No, all combat movement must be completed before any combat begins.  The declaration of an amphibious assault with a preceeding naval battle is the only exception.

Yes. The only units barred from ending the turn in a newly conquered territory are air units.

This is actually a question that gets asked fairly often about each incarnation of A&A.  I guess it just confuses some people that they can move forces into a contested area after the battle is over.
