For the most part though the folks who end up with those things in the first place are ones who’d keep them. As opposed to a lot of the other types of convention exclusive items that will end up in the hands of resellers in the first place.

Ok if i was you i would get at least 5 transports and you can have at the least 2 men or 1 tank or 1 man and 1 tank or 1 man and 1 artillary in a single transport. Anyway you need Russia to pressure Germany in the following places: Belorussia, West Russia, Norway. Also make the UK pressure with only bombing raids the following place: Western Europe. Then while Germany is being attacked in the east and west, you will use your transports and send them to Algeria and Libya. After you take those 2 places and build up those 2 places, BE SURE TO DO THIS, as fast as you can push every single thing (from Algeria and Libya)  to Southern Europe. Then tell UK player to stop bombing raids and buy rockets and steal money from German factorys. Then in at the max of 3 turns there will be no more Germans. Ihave done this strategy 7 or 8 times and every time it was succsesful except once. So try that strategy um… hope if works for you. Well if the play with three people is a  must D-Day and BOTB and Guadalcanal are out. D-Day as US and Brits and Axis but the Brits and US each move as the Allies. BOTB and Guadalcanal are straight up two player games.

I really like BOTB.

I have not played Guadalcanal yet but it seems like fun. D-day and BOTB have reinforcement charts but G’canal allows you to determine your own reinforcements more like the global or entire theatre games.

Frankly it is really apples and oranges s to me but I don’t think I could go back to Classic after Revised.

If you look to the articles or strategies sections from the main page you will find Saburo Sakai’s Pacific essays. Read those and if you are still leaning to Pacific or it seems like it might be boring quickly you will no whether to go with it or research one of the other games.

D-Day is fast. BOTB is a little longer but has combat and movement like none of the other games and the aspect of supply management is great. Too soon to be informative on G’Canal but it seems like logistics will be important if not more so than picking the right fights. These games are best as two player though.

Europe is, I think, closest to Revised and probably best for a three player game. Pacific is cool because of the Victory points and spending 70 or so IPCs every turn with the US and is also three player.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either Europe or Pacific if three player is important to you. Just my $0.02.  :-)

In-site dicey is not an option with TripleA.  And THAT is a b*tch to try to do with TripleA.

I tried it and the territories were noticably different and the costs of units was different.  I think it was some half-way point between Axis and Allies and Axis and Allies revised.

Hm? I’ve been playing triplea for quite a while and I’ve never seen that option available (especially considering how easy it would allow to change a saved game…). Are you sure you’re taking of triplea or of that other mapping util? (map view? I dont use so I’m not sure of the name)

Yes, this is TripleA.  It’s a hacked version, based on the 0.8.2.2 kernel.  Which is why ppl running newer version don’t have these features (the hack is only compatible with the old kernel).

The good news is that tonez has been working on rolling these hack changes into the sourceforge project for tripleA, so future versions should all have these features, and we shouldn’t have this situations where some people are running incompatible versions.  Unfortunately, it takes time, which is the only reason it’s not already done.

Once the new (unstable) release comes out, it should have these features (plus a few more).  At least I hope it will.

After you attack a territory with an air unit and you kill all of their units, must the air unit that you used, land back to any friendly territory within one space or does it go back to any territory within its movement range?

They can move to land in any friendly territory within the limit of their movement

If air units can not capture land territories, what’s the point of leaving men in territories like Yakut SSR?  Wouldn’t the game just be about stationing all men at the borders?

You can try to do this, and many folks do.  The risk is, once a break-through has been made in your front lines, you might not have any reserves to seal the breach.  Also, no nation (except Russia) has an IC on the frontier, thus all builds have to work their way to the front from an IC.
