Whether or not I roll for tech depends on how the game is going. Usually I will only do it when desperate or when trying to quickly finish a game I have already won but my opponent won’t concede.

But if my opponent starts to roll for tech, I might follow suit depending on my assessment of the situation.

it sounds like a fun variant, but i can see where Geze is coming from. Although i hate losing, i would feel bad beating a player with a superior position because of a 1 in 36 shot (or 5 in 36, or whatever). The point is, although it may even out the field a little bit, and it might be fun at times, it does nothing to separate out the winners from the losers (he says at the same instant that Zero is kicking his ass).

how about requiring heavy bombers to deliver the bombs with them

I like the idea of holding off of techs until R5, but I’ve usually got it wrapped up by then…. (My friends REALLY need to learn how to play correctly!!!)

i’m thinking HB should be at least 60 IPC. they just swing the game too much…
and rockets should be at least 20 IPC. one indestructible bomber SBRing every turn seems pretty potent to me…

Yeah, I would suggest taking Hawaii, Alaska, and maybe even WUSA (i’ve seen this happen). Disruption tactics are a must when dealing with USA in order to help in a Germans. What you want to do is frighten the USA in at least keeping a garrison in their home country. This gives Germans more time to prepare for a possible WE invasion. If USA doesn’t fall for the bait, then congrats, you now have a steady source of income. :)

Hmmm…never thought of it, but that actually makes a lot of sense. Hitler threatened to invade Spain if Francisco Franco didn’t sieze Gibraltar (which was eventually made moot when the Allies invaded Morocco before anything could be done). Japan of course had very little respect for neutrality. And Switzerland’s “neutrality”, was indeed strictly enforced–with German-built ME109 aircraft! This is an interesting “historical” house rule…
